(Quote) Having done both building our own engine for our last game, Natural Selection 2, and licensing Unity for Subnautica, we can say there are huge pros AND cons to both approaches. It's less about whether you build your own, or licence an e…

That date is tentative. We are still investigating whether or not it is going to be the best date for us to release, and, as always, there may be unforeseen factors which prevent us from being able to hit that date. So, just because it's on the Ro…

(Quote) Ark was built from the ground up to be a multiplayer game. Same way our last game, Natural Selection 2, was created to be multiplayer from the start (we are no strangers to making a multiplayer game).
However, with Subnautica… -

The thing is, players DON'T craft beacons right away, nor do they need to. They have many bigger concerns to be thinking about then spending resources on Beacons. So, the beacon sits in their crafting menu, among all the other mu… -

(Quote) We very much plan on doing a full balance pass on the game. Recently we started a separate Trello board for balance tasks and added a weekly balance meeting where we can discuss and work out a lot of the issues. We've been discussing po…

(Quote) Harsh opinions and feedback are fine. Calling the developers lazy, because we made a decision you disagree with...not fine. Have a good day.

(Quote) Make your own game, then come back and we'll see if you have the right to call us lazy.
Anyway, we debated long and hard over the best approach to take, and we felt like the overshield approach was a good compromise. Just re… -
(Quote) The Cyclops does give quite a bit of warning before it explodes. I believe it's 20 seconds right now, after the health hits 0. So, the idea is that, if ,you decide you need to abandon ship, the smartest, and probably quickest way, is to…

(Quote) We spent many weeks balancing, adjusting, and buffing the Cyclops from when it first went in. Many people are basing their perceptions on the early version of it, not the version that was just released with this update.

Really nice work! Very cool

(Quote) There have been many many changes since that IGP video.
-Cyclops health increased
-Reduced health percentage at which fires can start, meaning more damage needs to occur before fires start.
-Reduced the probability… -
(Quote) Sandsharks do not attack the Cyclops. If you run into them they might do a very slight amount of collision damage based on how the current collision system works for all vehicles, but generally any creature smaller then that will not cau…

Oh, those are very nice.
I would love to put those in the game. The problem is, we are currently concerned about extraneous items which add to the texture memory budget, so non essential items like posters are a concern. -
(Quote) Ha, no worries

(Quote) I felt the need to step in and clarify this comment, since this is how rumors and, later, accusations start, about what devs "promised". I very clearly stated in Discord that mp was not ever...ever...going to be in the game for 1.0. I s…

Thanks for the votes, everyone. Always appreciated

Hmm, definitely a hard choice between the 2 categories. But we'll be happy to be nominated for anything

Sorry, there will be no Arctic biome, or any other whole new biomes (such as Lilypad Islands) added for 1.0, as we have our hands full finishing and polishing up the existing ones. But, there's always the potential for future updates post 1.0, depe…

The blood FX in general are going to get another pass at some point to polish them up, and we'll likely try out a few other color choice options. We are a bit limited in what colors we can go for that don't conflict with any of the numerous other F…

I very much hope we become millionaires, too Not holding my breath, though. Development on a game like SN is pretty expensive, …

If you came down through cargo room and the elevator room, then to get out you can do 1 of 2 things --you can use the laser cutter on the door leading to other sections of the lower area or you can walk back up the elevator shaft ramp. We realize i…

It went to cert last Friday, but unfortunately there was a very slight issue that caused it to fail. That's been fixed, and a new build has been sent off, with a scheduled certification time set for this coming Friday. If all goes well the update …

Yup, the update will be coming out for Xbox. There was a slight issue, however, that caused it to fail Microsoft's certification process, so we were unable to do a simultaneous release on both platforms. But a new build has been resubmitted, with …

(Quote) While theoretically it is true that the Xbox and PC versions can be released at the same time, we unfortunately have to deal with the certification process for Xbox, which can cause delays. And, unfortunately, the big PRAWN Suit update c…

We will continue to be working on optimization all the way up until release.

(Quote) Reinforced Dive Suit and Still Suit have not been removed. In fact we just completed some concept art on those, so that we can make unique models, the way the Radiation Suit has it's own model. If those are not obtainable in game then i…

Yup, we have a bug report for that, already. We plan on addressing it before we release the Exo update on Xbox. -
Exo update should be coming to Xbox around the same time as the PC version (next week), unless it fails certification.

Good to hear the latest update is working out well for you. We are going to continue to be improving performance. And in fact there was just a fix for the Cyclops dropping to 5 FPS when piloting it around at full speed, that didn't make it into th…
