I'm gonna miss the gene alteration stuff if it has to be scrapped (which is looking very likely), but just know that if you put it in the expansion I'd be super interested. That and an endless proc-gen Minecraft-style sandbox ocean would also be on …

A couple of other really random facts -- the Reaper Leviathan is seemingly based a lot on oarfish and on sea angels. Oarfish are the RL equivalent of the Reaper: a *huge*, long fish with a white body and a red mane running down its back that is ac…

(Quote) I wouldn't say visible from the spawn point, but it is visible from a long way off. Again, if you swim in the direction directly away from the Aurora's back thrusters, you'll find the island. Be careful to not get close to the crash zone …

For me pipes are still pretty much something I make a bunch of at the beginning of the game to fence in my lifepod from drifting and never use the recipe again. If titanium in this game isn't renewable, there's no way no how I'm using it on pipes.

Guys, you can dismiss the ESRB all you want. Go on and say how much they suck because they do. I think even most of Subnautica's devs would silently agree with you.
But don't think for a moment they're inconsequential. Your games can and… -
The only surest way to avoid reapers is to uninstall Subnautica. Isn't knowing they could be out there half the thrill of exploring?
More seriously, aren't there like zero reapers at all in the whole southwestern quarter of the ma… -
I've heard conflicting reports on whether scrap continuously spawns or whether things like quartz respawn. The developers are kind of put in a tricky position here because ideally you should be able to build your base as big or as ambitious …

It's not about "realism", it's about suspension of disbelief. Those are two very different things and shouldn't be confused. It feels a lot more immersive if the names given to the fish are reflective of what the science community would call them ou…

I think the game's story is leaning pretty heavily on the idea you won't be leaving the planet. Why? Well, obviously the Alterra Corporation are jerks. It's rather noteworthy that the first time you pick up a diamond, your PDA informs you that nothi…

Subnautica creatures aren't exactly the type to allow fresh meat to float in the water long enough for you to discover it. I do like the idea of skeletal remains though, or more signs of struggle.
Not a fan of fear meters in most games, … -
... I can think of several reasons why a completely stranded survivor with nothing to do would want access to a mesmer. Those eggs are a prize indeed.

You're kind of strawmanning my point. I'm not saying the implementation of the design -- one which you ARE supposed to be delayed, by design -- is perfect or flawless in its execution. It does have its jank and pacing issues and other such th…

The game isn't meant to be powered through or "progressed" at a rapid pace like an RPG. If you want that kind of game, there's already stuff like Terraria that does it beautifully. If you're speeding by the beautiful ocean environments or they don't…

I'd imagine the real hazard are mynocks lava larvae who attach themselves to structures and drain their power.

Well, you might already know my opinion. In fact, my very first post to this very forum was on this topic. Namely, I do support this.
Is it weird for me to say "all of them"? Part of Subnautica's appeal to me is just how vibrant and beautiful the game is. Even the Safe Shallows is basically bathed in color, especially thanks to all the bio-luminescent creatures. And while the shal…Wouldn't be too hard to rework the spawns and biomes. I like the idea that the further out and deeper you go, the farther you are from the light-giving surface that the void leviathan would hate so much. I'd also like to give ample warning before th…My vote is with alien creatures. Always more alien creatures. The more populated this ocean, the more it's easy to believe it's an actual alien ocean and not a video game. I mean of course Subnautica is a video game, but a lot of its magic i…It's not a bad idea in theory, it gives intermediate to advanced players a major leg up. However, a beginner is much more likely to squander or misuse those resources putting us back at square one somewhat in regards to the pacing. It would p…(Quote)
I like this idea as an alternative requirement to scanning fragments. That is, if you have a % of all the things scanned in the game, stuff will unlock on its own without you needing the fragments for it. So if you're REALLY stuck …I really like this idea. Further, I think it'd be neat if drones can perform scans. Thus a scanner room on the outskirts of reaper territory in the dunes or mountains can let you scan fragments in it (or even the big ugly itself) without putting you…It's not a bad idea, but at the same time feeling overwhelmed and like you have to figure things out is kind of part of the survival game experience. Subnautica is actually pretty spectacular at this part -- figuring out what stuff to build and how…I'm not against the notion, but it should be more inconvenient to do than using the prawn suit. You should want a prawn suit and currently being teased with all these deposits you can't use yet is meant to be a motivator to get one. But I do …Had a unique creature in it that was infamous in the nearby shallows for constantly whining about how bored it was that nothing interesting happens in the ocean.
Gone extinct now.In case anyone is reading this and genuinely wants a safe way to approach the ship -- get in a seaglide or seamoth and approach the Aurora from its bottom left side. Hug the sides and stay on the surface if possible. There will be a hole on your rig…I always feel icky using the knife because it's one of the few consumable titanium items in the game. Since as far as I know nothing respawns and the map is limited, when a knife is used up you've effectively removed titanium from your world forever…(Quote)
I feel like if that's the case, the PRAWN suit needs to be a lot cheaper to craft. By the time you have it, you're probably not going to care about a lot of those larger deposits.
