I've got some crazy priest on some server (57-58). I discovered that in raiding BRD/BRS I essentially didn't have to do anything. Do you know how boring it is, sitting there, thinking, "Someone get hurt enough so I can heal you, jeez." I managed to coin the very rare name Ultimus on the server (I got on it when it was about 6 hours old - bought the potion recipe for swiftness potions for all my money at level 10 - 30s.)
I also agree with Duffman, very annoying downtime when killing stuff as holy/disc. I have been rather newbish, and spent my entire time as holy/disc. I'm sure shadow is really nice. I just like healing people so damn much. It's unfortunate when I get all bored and then don't react as fast...heh.
The only fun things I've been able to do lately are hanging out in Un'goro crater (woot, dinosaurs; woot crystals that can be used as crazy items and potions; woot, jungles; woot lots of questing exp; not so woot for the proximity to horde stuff). Plaguelands aren't too bad for a holy priest either. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I crit more often there - it's just unfortunate that there's not much to farm that way (although I did get some glimmering/shimmering/really bright/cool purple longsword off of some lizard by Mara.
I just don't know if I can play it anymore...there's just nothing fun to do. The world never changes. Everything is so static. It's a little different when starting on a new server, the economy is turbulent, there's no 60s, there's an abundance of newbies to play with...but then it gets old and stale, like some $50 hunk of orc-filled bread.
Of course, then I abruptly stopped because I have college classes to go to (and I find there's far more fun things to waste my time on). Conveniently I also have a 40 orc warlock on some other server.
yeah, all MMO's get stale one way or another. if you don't have time to join a raiding guild and raid 4+ nights a week, you'll get bored of running strat/scholo/DM/brs til your eyes bleed. if you DO have time to join a raiding guild, you'll get sick of looking at mc/bwl/aq/naxx. if you pvp, you'll get sick of either getting killed over and over or killing people over and over the same way...
personally I feel like the game's not worth it if you can't raid, though even that gets boring because so much of the time you spend sitting around waiting for enough people, waiting for the right class balance, waiting for people to be ready, waiting for groups to be set up, etc... but at least you feel like you're getting some of the best eq in the game =d
and shadow priests are fun. if you solo most of the time you have no reason to be a healy priest. the only way I could stand xping as a healy priest would be 100% in instances... shadow priests have little to no downtime with spirit tap, it's nice.

I don't think so. You have to keep it fresh for yourself, much like life.
DPS in my guild is so competitive, most of the time you're paying attention just so you don't fall to 15th place on the DPS meters.
Healing has a lot less competition, but ours pride themselves on the fact that they've gotten so much better than they used to be.
The tanks don't say much...but then again, it doesn't get boring being a tank, either.
Also: If you spend more time than 10 minutes waiting for enough people to raid, you're doing it wrong. We have a strict policy: Invites at 5/6pm up til first pull: First pull an hour later. If you're late, someone else gets your spot, or you get -dkp, unless you've got a damn good excuse. Its pretty cut and dry with us.
Also, PvP guilds can be a lot of fun if they enjoy teamwork.
dps meters are kinda a red herring, but at the same time, they can be useful. you can use em to see who's doing next to nothing, first and foremost... you can use them to see what classes are more powerful in a particular fight, who's not dpsing, who's not decursing, etc. and you can just use them to compare your own performance to your peers. most online games are competitive, and if you're not pvping, the only way you have to compete is in the meters =p
our guild is pretty strict about attendance too, but all guilds have slumps now and then. we could probably do with a little recruitment but at the same time we don't want to recruit because the expansion is nigh, and raids will be smaller... so any new recruits would probably get screwed when the expansion comes out and there's no room for them in raids. all in all we know what we're doing. if we kill gothik this week, only the 4 horsemen and saph and KT left to kill in naxx... hopefully it'll happen before the expansion but I'm not holding my breath lol
I always wonder where Indalamar is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
edit: And I've stopped raiding myself. Lawlbringer sucks so much, and I've already got all of the ZG loot I can even think of, which every piece matches or is better than any MC item I'll see. BWL is the only thing I have to move onto, but I'm not all too rushed to get there - I'm shelfing my paladin and making a blood elf demonolgy warlock when the expansion comes out. I love PvP so much, and playing as a paladin in PvP was too little damage, or waaay too much reliance on procs, just pure, dumb luck most of the time. A demonology warlock in BC relies on no percentages at all to win a fight, its one hundred percent in your hands how the fight goes, and thats how I like it. =P

Ding 70! >:D
My GF hit 70 about 15 mins after I did, but unfortunately had much better luck on the AH and is now scooting around on a gorgeous new Swift Red Gryphon. I'm still about 2k short. ):
I was part of the original Veiled Eclipse crew, but have left for greener (aka my own) pastures. Raiding in BC? Maybe... depends if the new guild gets some peeps in it or not.

I HAVE had a look at them, and all I can say is this: At least your stuff fits, and it makes your class a little better. Ours only has the potential to keep us where we are- we lose DPS in one way, gain it in another. Prot tanks got a decent review, but with the point spread the way it is, its impossible to have a 'good' Warrior build where the points fit. You end up, no matter what, crippling yourself.
