I'd like to be able to hold 'shift' to use strafe jump. This way I can use a normal horizontal jump with maximum height. Gives more variance in terms of marine movement patterns. I really don't think this will make things 'too complex'. It's similar…

In my experience, in public matches, the reason aliens have an advantage is due to better harassment abilities (at the public level). Maybe 'better' isn't the right word, but 'easier'. Skulk mobility combined with bile bomb allows aliens to much mor…

From the beta test notes, can someone clarify what "reduced marine dodge jump effectiveness by 50%" means exactly? Does this mean the speed boost has been simply dropped by 50% or something else?
If the speed the boost from strafe jump i… -
I agree. Third function is unnecessary and would make it a boring copy of celerity.
I'm a little bit more stubborn about the second function.
In response to driest, do you think the first function would be better as something… -
You could fire it while turning your head quickly to get a slight spread on the parasites and hit two marines. This would be effective when marines are clustered.
-
Maybe have it fire 2 parasite at once instead of one. Like burst fire thing. Same time to fire, etc... just two back-to-back.
-
Rather than the tumor ability for skulks, why not buff parasite in some way later in the game as part of the skulk/biomass upgrade? I can think of a few things that could make it more interesting/useful later in the game, can you?

Elodea, you, sir, have a way with words. Perfectly articulating just what exactly it is that has been consistently rubbing me the wrong way about the strafe jump mechanic.

If possible please remove exo movement speed slowdown when firing and nerf them using an alternative method.
The constricted movement, like you're stuck in some chest high mud is not all that fun to me (and I'm assuming probably to a siz… -
Awesome. Thanks Sewlek!

After more play. Leaning towards server issues.

It's the servers fault when you are pressed against a marine so close the models are colliding (i.e. you can't get any closer) have the bite lined up and it doesn't register the hit? Although I'm not saying it happens every time it seems like 1/3 - …

The problem also seems to exist to some extent with the fade, it feels like its damage cone has been shortened, although it's far more noticeable and severe with the skulk. It's rage-inducing. I refuse to play aliens anymore.

Go into your steam folder, then find where your natural selection 2 is stored. Attempt to launch from the ns2 application in said folder. If it tells you that a directx file is missing, then go download and reinstall directx: in Build 252 Will Not Launch Comment by das0308 August 2013

Ah, this seems to have worked! I you. IYou mean direct download of directx?I had deleted that in an attempt to get the game running earlier. When I try to launch the game now, a new one is NOT created. Therefore I can't do that.Well. I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling. that does not work.
When I attempt to launch from steam. The dialog 'preparing to launch' pops up, and next to the 'Natural Selection 2' on my games list the word 'syncing' appears fo…There was something. I deleted it.No dice. thanks for trying though.
I guess I'll post dxdiag.I believe it was CrushaK, who sometime ago suggested linking the marine supply cap to command stations (effectively making them supply depots). I would really love to see this implemented in a balance test mod. Perhaps doing the same thing for alien…Although there appear to be issues with this idea, overall I think it's a great idea with a lot of potential. I really wish the devs would play with the supply mechanic more. The main thing preventing me from switching to Linux from Windows is that so few games I love support Linux. I see you are addressing this issue.I want it, so bad.Warning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipbWarning No formatter is installed for the format ipb
