They nerfed the movement and energy consumption so the pubbies could stand a chance against fades. You know, because marines are often disorganized and go alone only to get picked off by them. Which UW immediately decided was a problem with the fade…

As long as you don't get tossed around endlessly by enemy attacks like the previous games, looks ok.

Marines: learn 2 shoot, learn 2 trap fades.
Fades: learn 2 movement (you can easily go as fast as before), learn 2 engage the right targets.

@piratedave Shadow Step does remove momentum so don't use it in movement, only in combat so you can swipe mid-shadow step. And dogding backwards and sideways, that too.…

My only problem with the Fade now is that I can't figure our what to do with Shadow Step. It consumes way to much energy to be as viable in combat (dodging) as it was before, and it's obvioulsy useless for gaining speed. And the whole 360º thing... …

I perfectly understand that initial confusion, but if you practice a bit (a lot actually), NS2 is one of the best games out there.
