  • QUOTE (lwf @ Jan 8 2011, 06:31 PM) » That just means it's working - you're not supposed to notice. It's purely for performance reasons, if you notice the shift th I've developed content for games. What I mean is I've done my own small scale non-…
  • Or, just don't complain if your computer can't run it well. I loved playing CS and NS on my mother's old dell from like 2000, but it just didn't have the gonads to do it real well. I loved it all the same, and just thought "if only I had a better co…
  • QUOTE (Price @ Jan 8 2011, 04:44 PM) » Just for Info. Half-Life 2 is a close combat game too and use it for every Source-game, CS, DOD, TF2 and stuff. Sure its a old engine with bsp system and the spark engine use other newer features but for the c…
  • It runs fine for me. nevermind that I have a 3.0 hex-core cpu
  • I've honestly never noticed a difference in gameplay from LOD models, in all my time playing games. Granted, maybe I'm not playing the right ones.
  • You're ###### welcome.
  • QUOTE (zex @ Dec 15 2010, 08:04 PM) » "Instigating..." I don't think that word means what you think it means. QUOTE in·sti·gate verb \ˈin(t)-stÉ™-ËŒgāt\ transitive verb : to goad or urge forward : provoke I know, and knew exactly what the…
  • QUOTE (zex @ Dec 15 2010, 01:56 AM) » But if it doesn't make any sense to you, why were you speculating that "it was to get even for how the aliens were playing?" I'm not accusing you of anything but it is curious how you are changing your story? …
  • I'm a sucker for special packaging though, I'd love to see a comm center case.
  • Plugins, and mods, etc; SteamID would be really useful for the likes.
  • I think saying this is a direct competition to NS2 is like saying halo is a direct competition to call of duty. Same genre, sure, but very different.

  • I don't think the flamethrower is powerful enough. And should damage all marines and marine structures, all the time. Even if there's a toggle for FF and it's off. That powerful.
  • QUOTE (RobB @ Dec 6 2010, 06:34 PM) » should be arg. as in ARG! MY HYDRAS! Marine is sappin' my hyras?
  • Eh, realistic as that may be, I don't like the can of worms that opens up.
  • I don't see how making the two factions of play a little more symmetrical is anything close to a "slippery slope". In fact, to me, it makes more sense to have both sides competing for control, than to have them tech on different terms. Okay so it wo…
  • QUOTE (Zuriki @ Dec 5 2010, 12:50 PM) » [..] in addition to some bullet-holes/dents too. This added with sprites that show hit registration are the only things I truly miss right now, and feel like the game is lacking without. That and muzzle f…
  • While I gore; I never really noticed in NS1 (haven't really played the alpha/beta enough to notice in NS2) that there wasn't any blood, it was just what it was, and the gameplay was immersive enough without it.
  • QUOTE (AssassinTeddy @ Dec 3 2010, 08:25 PM) » If you try to create a server there's an option for a game mode called 'faceoff'. Probably won't be identical to ns1 combat but it seems to be the combat type option for ns2 RIGHT that's the third…
  • Well I don't know if it still exists but the last time I looked at game modes there was "NS" "MvM" and another. I assume MvM is marine v marine. Where is your god now?
  • QUOTE (yourbonesakin @ Nov 28 2010, 12:31 AM) » This: But mostly this: How map hacking gets into NS2, I have no idea. It's a terrible, terrible idea which needs to axed now, now, now. Unknown Worlds Entertainment, I love you. You get my supp…
  • I personally like it a lot better than the ns1 fade, which I felt had little continuity with the other models. Much more cohesion now.
  • I must be the only one who doesn't think the brow plate causes any look of emotion.
  • I love it, period. You're rarely going to get a full-frontal only view anyways, and I don't think it "doesn't" work, and the movement totally helps make it frightening. Also, wow, I'm playing with it in model viewer, and the idle7, just all the mod…
  • QUOTE (zex @ Nov 26 2010, 08:22 PM) » Gorge doesn't have a melee attack? I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. Taking options away from players is bad design IMHO YMMV I agree, especially when we're giving marines a secondary melee attack …
  • I've always felt like it broke continuity to have your view stay oriented like you were on the ground. I donno, it might be nice to try elsewise, but I'm not going to be upset if it doesn't change. Though I agree it feels like it doesn't make sense …
  • Score!
  • QUOTE (Runteh @ Nov 25 2010, 12:46 PM) » If a skulk is biting your friend, and another a build bot... you will shoot the one biting your friend first. I guarantee that, as he is paramount to your survival more than the bot. Don't guarantee somet…
  • QUOTE (Runteh @ Nov 25 2010, 10:59 AM) » [..] You do not 'feel' as much for the build bots. [..] I donno why that would be, bots cost money, players are free. I feel much more inclined to save the one person that can build as opposed to in NS1 w…
  • Just my two cents, but I have two takes on how you should look at NS2. 1 - It's a brand new game. Don't look at it as a sequel, or worse, a remake of NS1 with better graphics and physics. Since NS2 is it's own game, it's undoubtedly going to have…
