Tbh, trying a cigarette isn't something I would class as stupid at all, more a of part of growing up. He didn't like it? Fair enough, but live a little for Jeebus's sake.
I smoke cigarettes sometimes. At partys when I'm drunk, or when I'm haning out with friends that smoke that give me cigs. I would never, EVER in my life become a regular smoker.

Edit - that's in places like pubs and crowded areas. Segregated restaurants or open areas are no cause for complaint.
