When I first started playing ns my nick was 'nem0', after about 1 year I when I was getting an email address on hotmail, nem0@hotmail was in use. Instead I registered the address <b>rn</b>em0@hotmail.com, I got the "r" from the first letter in the clan I was in at the time which was "Reaction.se". I liked "rn" and since so many "nem0"s started popping up when "Finding Nemo" had it's premiere I decided to change to rn, to have a more unique nick... :}
And I must admit, I was in pain when I had to see "I FOUND NEMO!" most of the times I joined a public server.

I was Stickman, because i'd started drawing Stickmen all over the place at school as my artistic talents were.... lacking, and it used to make people laugh at just how poor these stickmen were, so i'd draw them all over the place and have fun in doing so. Then in a game of CS, there was a guy called X_, i'd known him a bit on the server, and all these people kept asking if X_ was a clan and he got bored and just said "Yeah, stick X_ on your name if you want to join" and i played along. It looked cool so i kept it.
I can't remember what i was before Stickman. I remember using the name Morphz, but i can't remember if that was before Stickman, or if i was trying to change my name into something else. I remember using Soundwave and Starscream for a while too (because they both rock).
I first played DoD (or Firearms i can't remember) at a 2 man lan at my friends house, and this was before i'd actually played games online before ever (also my first FPS, which means i've been FPSing for like, 3-4 years. I'm nub) so it was probably something really stupid, or something my 11 year old brain thought was cool (like SuperMegaDeathDealer or something).
Before i started playing games i was basically a chat room kiddeh, but i think i just used my real name (Gary, or GaryO which is my first name and first letter of my second name).
I started multiplayer-gaming when TFC came out and needed an alias. At the time I didn't wear glasses and could barely see out of my right eye and started looking at the monitor with that eye shut so I took the name Cyclops thinking of the mythical ogrey beasts. After many times being told that Cyclops was a character in a comic book (of which I knew nothing about at the time how innocent I was) I decided to take the most subtly offensive name I could think of at the time which was Necrophiliac.
When I first joined these forums I was still using the name Necrophiliac, but when being looked at for forum moderatorshipdomness Flayra rightly said "would we allow somebody with a name like Beastialist or Child Molestor represent our community?" and yeah most of you should know what a Necrophiliac is so I shortened it to Necrotic for some reason or other. Once Necro- started hanging around here and on IRC I was sick of people setting off my highlight when trying to talk to him so on IRC and in all online games I now use Hodge which is what most people know me by.
I got the name Hodge from an English Literature class when we were studying War Poetry and Thomas Hardy's "Drummer Hodge" We were told that "Hodge" is a West Country nickname for a country bumpkin and one of my fellow students thought that was amazingly fitting for me and it stuck.

I got mine from several class mates in my school year. I did "dinner duty" which is basically keeping an eye on the dinner queue and making sure no one jumps it. I don't know why, but if anyone jumped it I got angry very quick and started shouting a lot.

Well, I have posted this once before, however one more time can not hurt.
Back in 97 I was introduced to a magical game named Dark Forces: II Jedi Knight. With one of my friends we started an "Elemental" clan, naturally he wanted to be "Fire" (duh) So I choose "Wind" instead. Then after playing online for a while and just finishing my new WoT book 1 (EotW) I changed it to Lanfear.
Some further time down the road I tried out Trinity (orginal eh?), Akasha (I liked the books) and even Amyrlin (Again from WoT).
After one halloween in 2001, I finally stuck with Lanfear because I dressed up just like she was described in one of the books (I believe it was Book 2, TGH) and it stuck from then on. Occasionally even IRL I am called by this name.
Thats about it.

I just choose random names that sound cool (at the moment). I've been through PianoWireMaster, and ZombieSkullFragment, but dispite being individual both of those are extreamly long, so I tryed to keep it shorter with SwiftSpear. The name isn't a terrible alias, and its unique enought that if people hear it a few times they remember it, so I just kept it. Now I use it for everything online, unless I'm trying to be a ninja and trick people about who I am, then I use a cool smurf like Ronald Bobington, or Hugh Richards.

My first multiplayer game at all was Everquest. I was trying to think up some cool name, so I kept saying random things. Finally I said Quaunaut. I liked it. And I've stuck with it because its like William- the kind of thing you could see someone being named that thousands of years ago, or thousands of years in the future. Hell, I'd even rename myself that if it didn't sound so damned wierd today.

Ooh. I remember. Anyways, this was back in the <a href='http://www.startrek.com' target='_blank'>Star Trek</a> forums (which now have been taken down because of some legal mumbo-jumbo between Viacom and Activision, as far as I can remember). I originally had some other user name, but then some problems arose and ... well, I was forced to create a new account. At that time (and still), I was (am) obsessed with the Borg (a species in ST). So, I just decided on some random number combination (since that is how they're all called; 7 of 9, 1 of 12, etc). And 2 of 8 just popped up. And the underscores (2_of_8) had to be put in since the original ST board didn't accept spaces in the username. Yarg.
We once had a poster hanging in our classroom of a girl ... "playing" ... with a banana. (The pupil who sticked it there got busted, though)
The following days I thought about how wide a **** could be stretched and thought of birth and the HUGE diameter of a baby's head and I was like o.O . While I thought of this, the bus I was in drove by an "Obst und Gemuese Bazar" (=fruit and vegetables shop). I then had some dirty thoughts about fruits and vegetables and at the very same day I changed my old forum name to "Obst & Gemuese" (=fruit & vegetables).
my first name was disk then i changed to smiley but becourse so many used it i changed to -*smiley*- then i changed to smile to the world and the world smileys back

I knew 2 of 8 was a Borg related thing! TBH, I think I remember you from the Star Trek forums.
I used to use a name that was just first initial, middle initial, last name, with some numbers thrown on (I had to pick something for a Yahoo email account, and nothing else came to mind). While at a LAN party playing mostly CS, I decided that I needed to change my name. Since I didn't know my way around the map, I figured "i'm lost" was fitting. When I started playing NS online, it still fit at the time.
Whenever I play online, I have the tag [TGN] in front of my name. It's what all of us in the dorms used a couple of years ago. Anyone that played on the Team Fun server in 1.04 probably saw a lot of that tag.
I was named after my grandmother (my older sister was named after the not as cool one). I like my name a lot, and have used it for every game I have played thus far, so that is why I continue to use it.
[WHO]ThemYou can call me DaveJoin Date: 2002-12-11Member: 10593Members, Constellation
I used to be known as Ximeter back in the beggining of my counter-strike days. After I did the clan monkey circuit (-=Die2K=-, $iK, red dot society ). I decided that I needed a new name that nobody knew about so I could kick **** without anyone seeing it coming (I used to be really really good at cs before they screwed it up). I tried a few names out, I don't remember any of them now.
One night, me, my brother, and my dad went into a game and I decided I needed a new name again and changed to "Them". My brother followed in suit and changed to "They". And I can't remember what my dad changed to, but it was along the same lines.
I liked the name so much that I founded clan [WHO] just so I could keep it alive and have a nifty clan tag.
And now I refuse to go by any other name unless the naming system of whatever game/board it is doesn't allow brackets. If that's the case, I either use xWHOxThem, or my other spur-of-the-moment name, Dirk Swizzler.
I simply like the imagery of Phoenixs. Its also because if you kill me i'm just gonna respawn and kil you <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
