My name is a variant of crazy ivans which is a submarine tactic used by the soviets. Also it is a unstable character from command and conquer red alert 2

It is short for Crazy Insane Volunteering Army Novices.

Considering he is insane it matches my personality perfectly.

(Edward) Indeed that is true. That is the first truthful thing you ever said.

Shockwave: Secret of Mana?

My name started in '94 when I got access to the internet at school. I used to go chat rooms when I was bored (who didn't) but they were banned at school so everytime we found one it got banned shortly afterwards so I wasn't really too bothered about what my name was. About the same time I found a way of visiting a site and it not getting banned (I'd send myself an Email to my hotmail account then open the window in there) I found this great chat room with people who didn't just want to talk about sex (I seemed to be one of the few who actually wanted to talk instead of cyber) and I just used the name East because I was feeling particularly unoriginal that day and it is the opposite of my surname (West, for all those who don't know the compass points ).

Of course the next time I went back on there I wanted people to recognise me so I kept the same name, I ended up keeping this name and never seeing a single person take anything similar for the next few years.

Obviously when I played online for the first time I was curious to see if I was recognised so again I kept the name. Eventually I was recognised, not for chatting but for my l337 medic skillz on TFC and was asked to join the 'Combat Medic Guild' and so my name became [CMG]East. That then changed to be come [CMG]East-TPF- after joining the Team Play First group and then, after a long decision I finally decided to join a clan (after saying no for a few years, didn't think I'd have the time to properly devote to it) and so became [HoL][CMG]East-TPF- which didn't even fit on to the scoreboard!

Hence the CM (Combat Medic) in front of the East, people started assuming it was my full name instead of just a prefix and rather than explain each time I just accepted it. Most of the people who know me online from before call me Easty or East (hence the siggy) but I will always keep the CM.

Oh and I became extremely upset when I found out a forum member from B3ta was called Easty but there isn't anything I can do about it even though I've had this name and variations of it for the past 10 years.

Oh, when gaming with friends I sometimes went under the pseudonym "The Crowbar Scout" for my penchant for taking out HW's with my trusty crowbar (there is a guide somewhere on the internet which I wrote and I *think* I was the first true crowbar scout in TFC, it soon became a minor cult craze but there wasn't one before me afaik

[Edit] So many Oh's *sigh*

Rather boring one for me...

Back in the day before I started lanning and gaming properly, I used to play a lot of Lucasarts games. Sam & Max, Full Throttle, The Dig, etc.
One game, Afterlife, was a sim style game where you controlled both heaven and hell and you had to make the place run well...

It had a resource grabber called an Ad Infinitum Syphon... I can't remember what I was thinking at the time, but it was something along the lines of "Well my name's Adam, may as well steal the 2nd name then!"

Viola. Infinitum.

And no matter how hard I tried, I could never bring myself to start using a new name...

I've used HWGuy (of Team Fortress fame) as a name for about 2 years, but someone else took HWGuy in this forum. The Heavy Armor w/ HMG reminded me of the HWGuy, so I added the "in a Can".

Nowadays, I go by Chow Yun Thin. I got the name from a mission in the first GTA.

Hehe, My full in game name is -={DG}=- Cabose-TPF-

OMG IRL TPF FTW!

I actually started out in NS with TPF and then moved into TFC since I was a late bloomer in online gaming. I got HL a few weeks before NS 1.04 was released, before that, I played a lot of Tribes.

But yea, now TPF does the Battlefield thing, it's pretty fun.

I never really had a steady nick until NS. I went by "Meteora" (Long before that Linkin Park album came out.) in Deathmatch Classic. I played TFC as something stupid with sniper in the name, can't remember and during 1.04 I went by the name "GhostSyphoid". When I came to these forums I wanted a new nick and it has stuck. I chose DarkATi because "ATi" would be too short. I had just got done building my first computer and it had a Radeon 9700 Pro in it, so I made ATi longer by adding "Dark" in front.

Dark more or less in the Dark and Mysterious sense, not like, oh my ATi is too Dark... heh, anyway, there ya go. I contributed. wppt.

Mine came during the days of Mplayer. My friend and I were playing Total Annihiliation and we both were trying to come up with nicknames to use ingame. I think he started with 2FAST4U and some other lame names like that. I was also watching TV at the time and I think I saw something on tv about people saying they had skillz. I thought it was pretty funny so I stuck on has Skillz at the end of my name and it just stuck.

My History:
Vahn Rahl.
Vahn= The main character in Legend of Legaia. Game I was playing on the PlayStation(yes #1) TBH I just beat it recently.
Rahl= The last name of a family of war wizards in the Sword of Truth book series.

Vahn_Paktu.
I joined a clan for HomeWorld(PC game) called Kiith Paktu(If you played the game, you know what the name is). Members were required to put _Paktu at the end. It's stuck every since because people know me now as that.

First ever name I can remember using is in Diablo. I had a Warrior called Tahngarth, which is an old character from Magic: The Gathering.

Next I can remember is in Starcraft. Absolutely desperate for a name no one had, the first thing which popped in my head was Ahora. I at the time, thought it was a character from a book I had read or something. Little did I know it was Spanish for "Now" which I'd obviously heard in Spanish lessons. This led to 2 years of "Are you Spanish?" every time I joined a game.

The name I have now is a character from Starcraft. While playing on a friend's LAN, I needed a name sharpish. I choose a cool character from Starcraft. Only several years later did I find out this name wasn't the one I thought it was (meant to take Artanis). Had been using this one for far too long, so decided to keep it.

Righty. My real name is "Kieron" but all my mates at school called me "Ron" for short. I started getting into gaming and all of that in around 2000, when Y2K fears were running rampant, hence the "2K" on the end. (Yes, I have little imagination.) And it's stuck. And, as it's seemingly unique, it's here to stay.

Crazy **** taco... I go by it in ns as well as cs and what have you. But It all started when me and some friends were playin a good round of sc, we started making fun at the ultralisk for beatin the crap outa a scv. So we called it a crazy ****. Crazy **** started to get names attached to it like crazy **** grandma, just stupid things that amused our senses of humor. Eventually i suggested burito then evolving from that came taco. And it has stayed that way for many of years.

While my 56k was downloading NS, I was reading MonsE's FAQ over at yonder www.readyroom.org - one look over what the Marines could do, and I decided I'd never play aliens as long as I lived. Tried to sign up to the forums as Marine, but someone had already taken it, so I popped an 01 on the front and that was that.

Guess what my real-life name is. I'm not very creative.

In-game, I'm SMAT.BaBoUnD:
SMAT being the backwards form of TAMS. Kudos if know what that is. (Hint: it's in Texas.) If you look hard you might find a picture of me on one of the student life pages.
BaBoUnD being the bastardized short form of "Budtzing Abound". Some weird name I made up when I was bored and joking around with my sister. Sounds strangely Nepalese, maybe, I dunno.

The 3 names I have gone by:
The Destroyer
Mexican S
DJ Acroama

The Destroyer - My main alias. I have used this for years. It originated way back when I was working on a comic idea which followed a genetically altered superhuman who hates what his is....blah blah blah (there is a HUGE backstory to this). Well, the idea never got off, and I tried a movie script, and am now trying to write a book instead.

Mexican S - I'm half Mexican. It was my friends nickname they gave me.

DJ Acroama - I'm starting to make my own techno, and that will be my DJ name. And for a side note, acroama means entertainer in latin, or so I am told.

An epic tale about to commence.

First time I played NS, someone said "Moo." - I returned the compliment. I then called myself "MarineCow" because I happened to be on the Marine side at the time. I switched between "AlienCow" and "MarineCow" when on different sides, but this became problematic as on most servers, if not all, you can't change your name unless you are in the ready room.

"AlienCow" is funnier, so it stuck.

But... I hear you ask; Why do you have an exclamation mark on the end of your name when on the NS forums? Where did this punctuation come from!?

That, children, is a story for another day.

If you see me in game, I say Moo a lot.

Well my first online name was Phaedra but then the folks in IRC realised that it was the name of an greek godess and started to abuse the google-bot in one of the channels I hang in, the bot must have had a bad sense of humor as the first result it displayed was a fat, naked woman in a thong. I generally change name name based on what i'm playing, I use locallyunscene for most accounts and when I play TS. It was originally my screen name which I got because I listened to this radio program that played local music and it was called Boston Unseen. I didn't want my name to be too derivative (which I suppose it is anyway) so I spelt seen "scene" as in the music scene. I don't really listen to that stuff much anymore, but I use the name when it fits.

I used to go by Thrawnjr. on starcraft (read a lot of starwars books) as well as _-_-_-_ which i liked but most character sets don't allow it so I stopped using that. Now I play as SweetJeebus on bnet (obvious simpsons reference) and when i played C&C generals I used KrispyKarim(the RA on my floor was named Karim and I'd just heard a lot about KrispyKreme donuts)

On UT I was spambassador and for any online RPG (other than ryzom, I was Ami then) I use Mito Chan Dria as a throwback to parasite eve.

my avatar has nothing to do with my names thusfar, it's from an old series called exosquad.
