    The anti-capitalisation is wonderfully whimsical.

Well, my gaming aliases have been:

Sky- The first three letters of my real name, and what some of my friends call me.

Psyke- Mixed up "Sky" and realized it was similar to psyke, and then used this name because it's like... PSYKE! or psyche, depending on how you look at it... And I thought it looked cool.

Remedy- Came up with this one during NS 2.0, I don't remember how I came up with it, but I thought it sounded so cool. After getting the name, I played around with the idea in my head that it meant remedy for the alien plauge, like I was what was going to cure us of the ebil bacteria. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

blu knight- got bored of my other names. I wanted something mroe simple, and one of the bots on a server was called "Blue Tiki". I was going to do "Blue Knight" but I didn't like how that looked, so I took off a u. I still wasn't happy with it at that time though, so I put a 173 in place of ight... so it would be "blu knite". After a while I got bored of the numbers, so now I just use "blu.knight"

There was also a time between remedy and blu.knight that I used them both in one name... like blu.knight[remedy] or something.

    Hmm.

    Name is [CFS]Naoki

Yes, the 'clan tag' is part of the name because I made it up on a whim, so the actual tag does not exist. I used to get a lot of people badgering me about joining my 'clan' (didn't exist) when I played CS 1.5

It stands for 'Chronic Failure Syndrome' since I'm an inconsistent player in most games.

And Naoki because that's the group that does a few DDR songs that're good to listen to while I played an old game that's still fun to this day:
    Tribes 2.

I think I explained this in another thread, but not here.

I used to be named Duff-Man, but then the forums were all redone and some other person had DuffMan. Sooo, the forums changed my name to pardzh and told me I could change it back if I wanted. But I'm lazy, so I did a GIS for "pardzh" and picked the squarest image that came up. Then I resized it to 64x64 and used it as my avatar.

I've used the name Manawydan for years. When I first started online, many moons ago, and first got exposure to IRC, my real name, Dale, was already in use on DalNet/Undernet. However, my middle name, Manawydan, wasn't so I decided to use that instead.

Ever since then, I've used Manawydan for most online stuff, including my MSN/Yahoo etc. e-mails and such.

Desert Fox was my previous name. I thought of it while i was playing CS 1.5. Nasuke is from an anime called Naruto. I don't actually like Naruto's story. I just like their art. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Originally went as whats-his-name back in my Q2DM days, because I was yet another easily forgettable not totally awful but not so great player.

Then I tried to join some clan. I can't remember the name, something vaguely goth, maybe "carnival of doom" or some such nonsense. The clan leader's nick was Azimuth, and the post-tryout conversation went like this:

    <Whats-His-Name> So Az
    <Whats-His-Name> Am I in?
    <Azimuth> no way WHN.
<Azimuth> my clan doesn't need another guy who runs around falling into the lava like a drunken bozo

The rest, as they say, is history.

I've since shortened it (on IRC and some other forums) to DruBo, because I wasn't so thrilled with the drunkard label that it gave me. On IRC I added a |h4x because of eBnar and pielemuis, two old pre-1.0 regulars who usually went as eBnar|lemur and piele|sney. I thought it was neat to have a perpetual non-sequitor stapled to my nick.

Used to go as yo momma and yo daddy in the good ol days of UT, but it was fairly unoriginal. I started kinda thinking about it, i started using masta' alot in conversations for a while, since it was more gangsta' than "master". Since my name is jon i just decided to be the master of everything "J", i.e. Da J Masta.

Sadly, since having this name almost no one, including friends who I go to school with pronunce it "Daj-Masta" despite the obvious J capitalization, so its kindof not my original idea, but it works, so I dont complain.

O and in lan games all bets are off, ive been punctuation, one letter variations of other player names, obscenities, racial slurs, and various other good-natured randomness type of names. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

if nothing else, im the only DaJMasta ive seen or heard of in any steam game, any UT game, and most of the RTSs that ive played.

Ah well let's post here to...

During the doom-quake2 era I had gone by the name (man I'm getting old!)

    Decoy or Decoy (NL)

Arround 1997 I think, I became totally addicted to anime so I changed it to the japanese version. Decoy roughly translates into Kouji, and Kouji is also a much used name in Japan.

    So here I am!

I'm However thinking on changing it to Borgman, since this is my real sir-name and it looks like an alias. I'm not sure on this since I've been Kouji for this long...

I have had so many nicks..
a new game, a new nick.
But i guess it all started back when i was playing C&C and Q1/Q2 with my friends on lan.
Choosing "pain killer" becouse it sounded cool, and i wanted to stop my friends suffering by killing them <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .
That name stuck whith me for years, until a friend of mine said why i wasnt named "pain killa", he suggested it sounded better and cooler. And so it was discarded, during a play of online Unreal T deathmatch.
changed it to "Ezy_Cut", stolen from the Danish DJ and record producer.
So in UT i was know as Ezy_Cut.
beginnig to play NS, i needed a nick. I just striped away "Ezy_" , and i became SteelCut. It suited both playing Alien and Marines.

Ezy_Cut has followed me around in some form or another.
    Have allso been known as:
Ezy Target. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> In "Red alert", becouse i was the first one to die.

    and HeHe..
When i play CS im named AimBob, refeering to AimBot, but mostly my Uber bad aim.

    Well....

When I first came up with this name it started out as Sake-Bukkake that was years ago on battle.net.

It was the result of a bunch of freely associated japanese words. Sake bukkake teriyaki no-dachi, again now, sake bukkake teriyaki nodachi sake bukkake teriyaki nodachi

Starting to get a feel for how catchy it was?

well after playing with the name for 10 games, I recieved a suggestion from a player to change it to Bukkake-Sake. I took his advice and then read it to myself, it was then that looked up at my computer screen and realized what I had.

The name was original and crude, but only to a certain crowd. As few knew what bukkake was.

Still even fewer know that there are several other sources and meanings of the word bukakke.

Mr.Bukakke, from what ive heard is the name of a nigerian scam artist

(dont do E business with them dudes from nigeria!!!, if you use paypal thats immediate grounds for freezing your account!!!! Visit www.paypalsucks.com, from what i know there are alot of sites like that because paypal scams alot of people)

In japanese it means noodles, and also ive heard it means flock of seaguls.

I keep the name to this day because its been grandfathered in as my internet idenity. Its a name people will remember and one few mimic. So my hope is 5 years down the road when I still have this name someone will remember it from wherever and say, I know you man from such and such.

The only other names ive gone by for long periods of time are "Shotgun-Steve" on counterstrike for like 2 to 3 years and Afroman which I developed long before that Mediocre rapper claimed it for his own. I used it in the beginning days of starcraft and even before then, I became most known for it in channel hell on USA east in the
CoE clan thats Cult of Euroynamus or something, which later disbanded and reformed as i! which is stands for Eye for an Eye, lead by the almighty doom and later weed.

NOTE: The admin told me I need to change my name so it will be changing soon to Sake. or BuSake or something else.

Found Cup of Squirrels in a Simpsons comic: I had been playing UT for about 3-4 months, and I need a name (I was "chicken" at the time...what? I was only 10). I was off sick one day, and my dad got me a Simpsons comic. It featured Bart and Milhouse flying to Paris to see a Krusty show, only to find it is cancelled. So, Milhouse decides to ask why after listening to some Troy McLure French learning tapes on the flight there. He says something in French, and the ticket booth guy thinks to himself "Why is he asking if I want a Cup of Squirrels?". I dunno, I liked it, so it stuck.

    Cup of Squirrels. Smooth.

When I was around 8 or 9, I got Final Fantasy for the NES as a Christmas present. As a 1986-era NES game, it didn't have a lot of memory space. So you got exactly 4 letters to name each of your 4 characters.

A cousin of mine helped me start up the game for the first time, and he made up some random letter combinations for each of the 4 guys, some of which were sort of pronouceable and some of which had no vowels.

Anyway, I liked the names so much, I reused them many times. One of them was Cxwf. I'm not listing the others because I tend to use them for my passwords. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> When I started having to make online names, I picked Cxwf and used that for everything.

Then I got into NS. After I got a microphone and started talking to my teammates instead of typing to them, I realized it would be really nice to have a name that people could pronounce. So I thought I bit and came up with Kerostasis instead. It doesn't really mean anything, it just kinda sounds cool, and I like the letter "K", and I was a big fan of the card "Stasis" in Magic. So now I've started registering for things as Kerostasis instead of Cxwf.

    grepdashv = grep -v

The unix (or perl, etc.) command "grep" acts as a filter for text. I like the command enough that I took it as a name (10 years ago?), but "grep" alone was not unique enough, so I appended the "-v" argument. The name acts as a <i>social</i> filter, since those that "get it" on first sight might be nerdy enough to be worth getting to know. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
