have played ns_bast_remake and it was very fun and much better than the old bast so up and go!

In Mr. Ben's pic I only count 9 nozzles, stick the tenth one somewhere near refinery to balance out the map. If were going for that kind of a drastic change anyways, might as well add one more nozzle.

The first thing to try I think would be to remove onf of the nodes in the the double node and move engine further from the the marine start. It would take the least effort and retain as much of the feel of the map as possible. Then if there are still problems with that then hack it up.
Keep Atmospheric Processing a double node. It helps to blance out the poor marine start if they have easy access to 2 nodes. (though feed watter is increadibly difficult to hold.
I liked the layout suggestion most recently made... the one with all the REALLY DRASTIC changes. I had also been thinking about how a double node could be placed in the center of the map, and also been thinking about how such a cool location as the drill shaft could be made into a natural route for traveling. And that layout solves the problem rather elegantly... swapping the drill shaft and atmospheric. Quite perfect.
I wouldn't want to see the airlock go away completely, but I do see the point in that it makes the marine base a deathtrap... it rather gets in the way of things. But perhaps if it was moved to the other end of that hallway, where it's now suggested there be a mere weldable vent? And also, I might suggest making it either a three-way airlock, or otherwise to force you to go through it in order to go from the Engine path to refinery...

if you must make changes, would you release a version true to the original as well? even if uncomplete it would be appreciated for nostalgic purposes. i would suggest maps made with layout changes also receive a name modification...but that's just a personal opinion...

practiacally all of subversive trooper's comments have been rediculous. Hes the guy who "stumbled" apon NS while attemting to download the acclaimed "vampire slayer" HL mod, and then immediatly procceded to post a long critical commentary on these forums about the wierdness of vampireslayer having giant ants, bats, and marines in gorrilla suits who attack you in your "citidels populated by turrets"
