Because NS1 was awesome. NS2 has <a href="http://getsatisfaction.com/unknownworlds/topics/geometry_vertices_teleport_around_randomly_crash" target="_blank">way to go</a>. Feel like owing the money for NS1 anyway.
Just grabbed the special edition. Played the original, got raped because I got into it so late and decided to give this a go since the potential is there. Now for the fun waiting game.
Just pre-ordered the Special Edition as well. I don't really care about the black armor and such, but considering the amount of time I've spent playing the original NS, and the amount of time I will spend playing NS2 (:D), I felt like 20 dollars just wasn't enough. 40 dollars isn't either, but hey, I'm only a student and I don't really have that much money to use.

Well I finaly got around to oredering the SE. Placed my order 1st Jun, Paypal took the money on the 2nd, but apparently the funds are still clearing, transaction says pending until June 8th, but still nothing, oh well, when paypal get their act together, i'll be getting my hands dirty with the coding and mapping tools :D
i bought SE cos i'm the biggest fan of NS since 1.0 days! haha i always try to explain the game to friends and end up having to use references to starcraft telling them to imagine it combined with FPS.. ahh god they must get bored of my NS raves but i'll bully them into getting ns2 aswell so they can see for themselves just how awesome it is >=)

I decided to buy this after reading a thread about it on an another forum. After some quick research, the game mechanics looked really interesting, so I decided to risk it and buy the standard edition, hopefully I won't regret my purchase!
I bough the NS2 Special Edition because it has something extra that the other version will not. I love the game, i started playing it on 3.0 and got hooked with Combat mode, but also loved classic mode. I know i will miss the combat mode a lot,, i love that fast paced non stopping deathmatch action but for what i've been seeing in the dev process this will be incredible...
But as i always do, i bought the game and forgot about it till it comes out, i don't want to self-torture with the long wait, hehe but i check from time to time when i get the emails about updates and stuff. Hope it comes out soon!
I bought it because NS1 is still the greatest multiplayer game I've ever played. Only Tribes 2 came close. If a company like Unknown Worlds has the courage and vision to go it alone to deliver a deeply engrossing and unique game unlike anything else in the market they deserve our support.
I would have happily paid $40 for NS1, so I will consider my NS2 SE purchase payment for that. If ns2 is good, my ns3 purchase will be payment for the ns2 gaming. I strangely really like this situation.
