I'm sure some modder will add it back in anyway.
MOST servers I had a decent ping to had FF on. It was really annoying. I mean, it didn't really hurt me, but I bonesaw'd quite a few teammates who didn't know to shoot the ground.
The current maps at have far too many (tiny) choke points, so they are a pain with FF on. For example, dustbowl is challenging enough as is, but with FF providing fire support becomes a real pain. You couldn't even build a sentry to guard the teleporters close to the last CP - it'd hit teammates more often than enemies!
And am I the only one who seems to be blessed with the ability of joining servers with completely imbalanced teams 9 out of 10 times?

Whenever I was on a FF server, people would usually set up rules to detect spies. Like, if you're an Engineer, and you have your shotgun out, you'll get shot at. Or if you aren't shooting as you come into the <strike>flag</strike> intelligence room, you'll get shot.

yah, the entire FF thing was always kinda dumb to me.
I tended to join a FF server, TK to people, realize it was FF and Leave.
Sure, you can use different rules, but it only works when EVERYONE agrees to them. "swing your crowbar" "fire into the floor" "never carry X weapon" what ever.

Something I wouldn't mind seeing from Quake 3 Fortress is the ability to emulate holding different weapons as a spy. Your numbers corresponded to other class's weapons. The only disadvantage to this was that obviously if you were disguised as a soldier and you were seen with a melee weapon it tended to get you weird looks.

TF2 looks amazing. I've been reading this thread and I can hardly wait. I'll get my new computer on October the 9th so if I'm really lucky, I'll be done setting it up and downloading all my Steam games and updates on the 10th.
I'd be lying if I didn't say that TF2 is probably the best multiplayer FPS I have ever played, and could very well be one of the best ones of all time. It's that good.
I just played a round in the same server as [WHO]Them. He spent the entire time infiltrating the enemy's base as an engineer. He set himself up a dispenser and both an teleporter entrance and exit in that ledge overlooking the last point, only in the enemy's base. I don't know if he ever made a turret but I do know he was PRETTY FREAKING USELESS. I had to carry our entire team. Way to go man <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
I guess after playtesting for a while you want to start doing some weird stuff.

I was testing how well it would work as an attack tactic. The answer is not very well. After trying it around 10 times in the past day, I've only had 1 run that I'd call successful. Although I do have my routine of how to get setup unnoticed all worked out.

Why put both an entrance and an exit in the same place?
I have set up advance positions as a engineer a few times, but generally only on Two Fort.
My best was getting a dispenser, a teleport exit and a lvl 3 SG in their flag room <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> (normally I do this in the sewer)

ive had the same problems. several times corpses would fall through the levels and didnt stop until i restarted the game, and once i got a lot of model errors. i remember specifically a scout that had the model of a sniper but was carrying a rocket launcher, and also medical closets instead of gates on the train tracks. very odd stuff.
Demoman video coming sometime next week, and on Monday? The "Meet the Heavy" video, only in Russian. I hope it's the same voice actor. I think it would be nice if every month or so Valve released a TF2 patch that just added a few new taunts to a couple classes. I mean, it's really easy to write them, and all they have to do is spend the extra cash on the voice actors. Sure, it's expensive, but it's <i>awesome</i> and it's not like they have anything better to do with the money.
