Compared to the initial release this community patched version is so much more playable with Intel HD 4000 graphics. I recently downloaded NS2 again and had some great fun. Thanks!

Sadly still fails: gcc: error: vgui.so: file not found.
-
Okay, filed another https://github.com/fmoraw/NS/pull/2 to document that properly so others can get started faster. Is there also a complete list of dependencies? gcc-c++ is obvious, b…

The cd ../linux is confusing me. The folder does not seem to exist. Or let's phrase it that way: from which folder are you typing your build instructions?
Also the different folders are confusing. It looks like the SVN import did not con… -
The Linux build script does not work: "unzip: cannot find or open ../NS-server-src.zip" so it looks like the source files are incomplete. It also comes with zero instructions. Not sure how to help myself there. Sent you a pull request that fixes th…

The diff is hard to read because of it's size. https://github.com/fmoraw/NS/compare/unknownworlds:master...linux?w=1 hides all the line ending changes.
-
Wow, that is impressive. Have you pushed your changes to GitHub already?

Great episode of GameOne.

SDK with full source code is available at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife?files=1 since august 2013.

How about now is the best time to win back performance again? But it needs someone to touch their closed source code, which will probably never be released. I doubt anyone can make huge improvements by just tweaking the Lua scripts.

The easier fix seems to be to request the OpenGL 3.1 API at context creation to resolve the issue that we can't even start the game. -
The more you Open Source your stuff, the more fixes your receive.
-
Because it runs the Source engine just fine and I can't sell my copy of NS 2 again plus I loved NS 1.
-
The new dark textures fit. I really loved Eclipse. It was a brilliant map and made the GoldSrc engine look impressively pretty.
-
NS1 source code would be a cool birthday present.

Immediately closes upon launch. Where can I find the crash log files on Linux?
-
Let's hope that the focus on less features, more fixes makes this game better and more approachable for a bigger audience.
-
Am I the only one who can't start the game anymore with the renderer crashing?
-
I suggest a check for the currently supported OpenGL version and required extensions. It should be displayed to the user in a pop-up window and suggesting to update video drivers. Bet this is a common issue.
-
According to that list my Intel HD 4000 should support OpenGL 4.0
-
It is strange as I am also using a very recent Mesa release (though my Kernel is old) and the binary Intel drivers are just repacks of tested combinations of Kernel/Mesa.
I downloaded it again on Windows and the OpenGL renderer (the GLSL… -

Filled out a form, but never got a reply. Seems to be quite the insider club. -
It was not a very good idea to make a giant patch that requires lot's of refactoring the engine for Linux and few days after that start a giant content update and marketing campaign. Those big changes require testing and you need time for it to get …

Don't just wipe out the whole configuration file. Go to %APPDATA%/Natural Selection 2 and search for that XML and delete the line that says
<Device>OpenGL</Device>

I restarted the game with the DirectX renderer which does not crash. Yes, this computer does not come with an Nvidia card. CUDA was disabled. Looks like the setting is ignored and it checks for it every game start. Also updated my PhysX installation…

Well I think my problem is that I get 13 FPS in the main menu on my Thinkpad X230. It feels like I am drunk when playing in-game. Lag and stuttering is really horrible although the graphics settings are set to low and look terrible.
-
I also get very frequent crashes. The bad thing is: the crash report utility either crashes together with NS2.exe or it keeps "Sending" forever so I guess Unknown Worlds never gets any automated feedback and therefore will never fix anything. I also…

Okay, interesting... reversed Kickstarter approach: here is the game for 5 $ now you can fund the development of an update already released with the usual reward system. Could work out as the product is definitely AAA quality and you have a fanatic …

Yes, you are right and I was even told before buying the game that it will not be much fun right now. Some guy at his NS2HD promised that performance will increase drastically within the next patches and modern integrated graphics …
