No but seriously seeing the work that goes on every day I'm confused what people are trying to get out of this? The game is actively being worked on (I know from seeing first hand) and planned to be finished so.....
The real question: Why the hell hasn't UWE put a heavily scripted action-thriller single player campaign into NS2 yet? Seriously, I paid money for that. Giving me reskinned Call of Duty with aliens is only half the product UWE!

Nothin personal, I'm just really tired of the unjustified complaining about this game's progress. It's not like Duke Nukem Forever, we're here and we can see the devs are churning out major changes with every build. Some good, some not. Some bad, but in order to make way for greater good. This game belongs to Charlie and UWE, and they can do whatever they want with it. They're not complete morons, they know they've got to get this engine finished and polished, as well as the game. With a staff of only 6 people and only essentially one of them writing the entire game ENGINE, the fact that they make so many changes so fast is amazing. At this rate Max will possibly have Spark looking as solid as an id Tech engine (my favorite line of engines because they're so damn solid), and in a fraction of the time it takes any dev team to create a brand new engine. People forget that almost everybody uses UE3 now, which I find both good and bad, and they're able to crank games out like they're going out of style. There are a lot of things about UE3 I am tired of though, such as its graphical style. It seems incapable of looking smooth. Or, they just use the Call of Duty approach, and they reskin their game and tweak a few minor aspects and release it next year as a new game at full price. That right there is the bane of the industry.
Therefore, even though it's not personal, Silverwing is right. \/
This conversation is quite ridiculous, everyone seems to think they own the game when in fact the only thing they have a right to is a game titled Natural Selection 2 that was never given a formal release date. Games are far too rushed nowadays, and often release very sloppily and their reputation suffers, sales go down, and the publisher/devs can no longer justify fixing the game completely anymore, and they didn't really do anything innovative in the first place. Good games take time, they take passion and dedication, and they take talent and intelligence. UWE seems to have all of these, but they need the time from you. For everyone who can't handle that, go play an assembly line-built yearly release game, and come back when you're ready to contribute positively. The devs have enough incentive to get this game moving as quickly as then can manage, they don't need people whining to motivate them.

Did you not read my post? Or the Kotaku article? It was. It's pointless trying to get a discussion going around this when fanboys flame those that try to challenge why it's taken so long to get such a meager product. Time = money. They don't have either.
Perhaps this thread is all about venting frustration regarding the latest NS2-build that made performance disappear down the s.hitter. People can put up with quite a bit (lack of maps\classes\upgrades), but a pisspoor FPS, the forever lingering stuttering that makes 60 FPS look like 30 and I suppose a general lack of polish (the menu is still goddamn Flash, why haven't you nicked fsfod's menu yet?) that drives players bonkers.
It also gives a general fealing of unease, an improper functioning engine is worrysome, the lack of an onos\HA\JPs, less so. <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->It is my belief that UWE feels pressured into releasing builds, and have hit a snag in development and cant proceed right now but feel the need to release something and as a result tossing in wierd ideas ( spawning on squad mates ) in order to prevent the flood of complaints about lack of builds... while they work on sorting out the snag.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Except I don't think that's what people really want right now (new features that is). If they'd fire up the profiler and just spent a good amount of time rewriting parts of Lua purely for the purpose of performance-benefits people would be cheering them on, and grievances in general on this forum will surely subside quite a bit. This doesn't have to eat into Max-time (he's buzy enough as it is with the occlusion-culler and whatnot) as you can yield significant improvements just by writing the Lua-script a little bit different, moving things about a bit.
