One of my colleagues asked if the skulk were a lady and you were looking out its... ahem... naughty bits. I think he just broke up with his girlfriend and it didn't go smoothly.

I find the idea that you're "working" with absolutely nothing open over your desktop very amusing.

Also wow @ seeing MonsieurEvil again, I remember when you ran a/the NS fansite, are you working on the game now?

MonsE doesn't run an NS fansite. MonsE runs NS.

That looks awesome Marshal :D I hope they go with something like that where you actually feel like its being hologramified in front of your marines eyes.

And maybe it should be possible to turn on and off this thing. It would be cool.

Very cool HUD, especially if it was a commander-given upgrade. I think the HUD should be made much more transparent in consideration of immersion and clear vision, though.

    Keep going on guys.

This really looks awesome! I like your work and I am happy that there wil be NS2 some day.

There's just one thing I kinda wonder about (like I already did in NS1):
Why the heck does a skulk player look out of the mouth?! It's eyes obviously aren't there (otherwise the glowing things up to the mouth aren't the eyes of the skulk)! Would be like looking out of a marine's mouth as well...
well, okay, it's the good old NS1 feeling about havig this view as a skulk, but doesn't make much sense, I guess.

Nevertheless: Really cool work and keep it up! It's good that you explained the current status very detailed. That gives us an overview about the progress and stops people thinking that the game will be released the next week. ^^

I can't think of any other way to show a bite animation. If the POV was above the mouth, any attempt at showing the bite would look quite stupid. The bitecam is the only way to go in my opinion.

Probably a really daft question but I'm curious - with making unexpected volumes of pre-release sales has UW needed to get shed loads of advice on various sales taxes that could apply?

I assume the rest of the EU is similar to the UK's VAT but I'm not a specialist in it so wouldn't be too sure on how digital downloads are treated - but if you were to sell physical goods (e.g. CDs) into the UK and total sales go over the threshold (~£60k iirc) you'd need to register and pay VAT - there's some get around for packages <£17 each allowing lots of sellers such as Amazon to bypass VAT on small sales. Err I'm just making the point messy here I think, oops.

Anyway, I was just wondering if part of the joy of pre-sales has been tempered by it being an utter arse to sort out all of the compliance issues rather than letting someone else such as Valve handle it all.

    Oh and pictures look nice

Well, you could replace bite with swipe, and thus eliminate the need for a bite cam. But biting is already so ingrained into everyone's minds for skulks, it would be hard pressed for UWE to change it to swiping with their claws. And besides, its fun to bite people.

Take it slow for releasing Charlie, we are all willing to wait, make sure its top notch before release. There are several games which would be considered as "Competitors" with NS2 which are releasing in the next few weeks. I know NS2 is completely different, but for new eyes it will be considered similar or in the same category. Id say give it like at least 2 months after these games release so everyone can get "bored" of them which is what I give them at max since they are nothing but the same game with a few new maps and chars. It will take around 2 months for their players to realize this. Then strike hard. I know NS2 will have a HUGE spot with the big boys if you hit at the right time.

Im dying to see UNKNOWNWORLDS up there in the top lists. Take your time and do it right. I know you can and will.

Yea. It would be soooo cool to see Unknown Worlds in every game site talking about Natural Selection 2 and it's success. :D
Success = Money = More games from UW (maybe NS2 expansion?) = Hopefully with the same quality of NS1 and (maybe) NS2.

I find it very intriguing that all of this will be done by 5 peeps! Also this engine is going to kick ass vs most engines. The development talk I've read in the interviews is simply amazing... Heck even Valve has failed in producing a realtime editing engine!

UWE can show the big players out there that quality can be done properly with a small budget and team. Let's hope they all learn from it and maybe even try and get a SDK licence from UWE for the NS2 engine due to awesomesauceEditing :P

Does it show I am impatiently waiting on the SDK/TR :D

"Thanks for the update guys! I like the look of the whole thing and can't wait to be playing.

I noticed the walls and ceiling seem a lot "bumpier". Are there any special changes for the skulk still be able to wallwalk smoothly along these surfaces? Because those would have been hell in NS1."

i think thats the first thing ive not only understood, but seconded, locallyunscene on :P
    ::thumbsup::

How is wall climbing? can we navigate crazy cool atmospheric walls and grids SEAMLESSLY to better chomp some marines?
