frakkin' amazing. but good to know you're still working on weapon effects as it seems a little cartoonish here.

Isn't the LMG a little bit big, proportionally talking with the rest of the marine?

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->weapon model is way to big!

can i disable it? (i want to see as much as possible and i can disable it in all prevailing shooters :) )<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I don't think you are gonna be able to disable it. it directly affects the game balance.

"Those vent systems that the Skulks are in are for their use only. The marines and the bigger aliens access the map through all the main routes, but Skulks have a whole secondary set of routes they can use for hiding, ambushing and falling back."

I'm surprised nobody's commented on this yet, taken from the bigdownloads interview...

Woah look at the skulk teeth! A-W-E-S-O-M-E

You know, with all the great games coming up in the next months (Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Assassins Creed 2) I would still trade all of those games for a release of NS2 without even blinking :O

And for Max: Being a programmer myself I can appreciate his skills. This guy is a monster :P

"That's our trademark "bite-cam" from Natural Selection. The Skulk sees the world through his mouth because he's built for biting."
But... the eyes are obviously over the mouth... o.O

Critical observation: The skulks bright eyes seem to be washing out the pupil slit in most of the screenshots. Have you guys considered making the pupil slit bigger to make it more visible? Love the glowy-ness of the eyes :D

    Very stunning visually.

But the U shaped snout of the skulk still makes me think it looks duck-like. :)

But honestly, that's my only complaint!

Well, apart from the size of the aliens now. Seems like they will be quite easy targets.

I'm kind of relieved the alpha won't be coming out this fall... I was afraid I'd fail out of school this term :P

I wonder if as a marine you would be able to see how much ammo your teammate has left by looking at his gun...it doesn't seem to show up in the screen shot. Not a big issue, but it would be pretty sweet :)

Nice The skulks look so big :)

i believe some people are a bit suspicious because of the really giant leap from NS1 over to NS2.

But if you take a look at the screenshots, they are not all that unbelievable. Just look for details... and you may find less than you think are in the screenshots.
For example,i don't think that the textures on the skulk-vent screenshot has any bump maping. The panel in the right is REALLY flat, and all other details like this. And for all those who think skulk's teeth are... "fake", they have some aliasing... just take a closer look. no 8xx aa aplied on the shot xD

On the marino shot, the aliasing is very clear, at that "07" part of the wall, on both sides.

Hey guys, loved the post. Loved the screens. Can't wait to put my ... hand onto keyboard and mouse to play this game. waiting on my alpha... Please, take your time, but just dont take too much time!

Charlie, it's been inspiring to follow Unknown World's progress. It sounds like you have a great team and I am in awe of the work you guys have done (both on the gaming side and business side). I remember the first time I logged into an NS game, the night it was released. I felt immediately transported to a different world and was completely consumed by the atmosphere. That has happened only a couple of other times in my gaming experience, and it's what keeps me holding out for Natural Selection 2. I can wait until it's released.

I'm impressed by the quality of the visuals, but I can't help but notice that the skulk is rather large (As in how could I possibly miss it large). I hope the trend towards making the game easier to pick up does not come at the expense of a lowered skill ceiling.
