Gorges and the Paradise
In an intense battle of Kharaa versus the Frontiersmen, many unwanted deaths and terrors have happen. Gorges, a species of mystery to all, have thought of a plan of escaping the battles of terror and horror that plague the gorges. “Come gorges, we have found the portal to freedom and paradise” said Sky. “But what will happen to everyone else? Our allies may need us.” Said Theslan. “No we must leave now! While we have to chance, eternal paradise awaits us!” shouted EMP Demon“As this opportunity will only happen once.”

The gorges rush to a secret location, while war is going on between the Kharaa and the Marines. The gorges rush into a hidden phase gate, then teleported to a strange location, where a marine that loves gorges awaits. “Alright! The portal to the sacred paradise has opened, but only for a certain amount of time, you guys better get in before it closes!” said Petco with a big smile on his face. “Thank you, you have helped us well, so this portal will take us to the dreams of all gorges, Gorge Paradise?” asked the gorges. “Yes, but you must hurry into the gate, the paradise was said to be closed to all after a certain event, but I created this portal, through years and years of studying everything about Gorge Paradise.” “Now go you must hurry!” The gorges rushed into the portal, and then they immediately felt something strange and intense.

The gorges have now arrived at the sacred gorge holy land, dream of all gorges, Gorge Paradise! “Oh no, something strange is happening, I believe an evil presence has followed the gorges! NO!” said Petco as a tear has fallen from his eyes. “What will happen to them…”

“Wow, this place is amazing, resource towers everywhere, hive locations, space, and everything a gorge would ever dream of. Best of all no one can shout at us or yell at us for building the wrong chamber!” thought the gorges as they thought they have found eternal paradise, but none of them knew, that among (while disguised as a gorge) them were a furious species called Gorge Eaters. These species find gorges extremely delicious, also they gain tremendous amounts of energy, helping the Gorge Eaters survive, and feel extremely great and powerful. As the gorges builds resource towers, and enjoy Gorge Paradise, soon it will no longer be A paradise anymore, Gorge Eaters have created a device that alters the sacred holy land of gorges. Soon evil and terror will consume the gorges! What will become of Gorge Paradise!?

    Day 1

While enjoying the paradise to all gorges, the Gorge Eaters have planned coming here with the gorges all along. A strange light and flashes have appeared all over Gorge Paradise. After an hour of a strange feeling and presence of evil in Gorge Paradise. The paradise has changed; the gorges see a vision, many Gorge Warriors fighting against unidentified species in what seems to be Gorge Paradise. The Gorge Warriors fight fiercely against the species, which seems to be Gorge Eaters, but in the end, the Gorge Warriors are defeated by this species which are known as Gorge Eaters. They are destroying Gorge Paradise, and summoning evil spirits, ruin is only left, and destruction.

In a flash, the gorges see Gorge Paradise as what they saw in the vision, when the Gorge Warriors lost that battle, which was nothing but ruins, and wrecks. “What has happened?!” screamed Fatal Error scared to death. “The paradise… it is now ruins, but what has caused this, what did the vision mean, and what are those Gorge Eaters!?” yelled Renegade wanting answers.

The gorges hear a crunching noise; they find Bob dead, with only bones left. “It seems Bob has been devoured, only bones remain of him…” said Sky with a tear. “It must be a work of these species called Gorge Eaters!” “These monsters, devour gorges, enjoying eating them, and killing all gorges, they also have been known to disguise themselves as gorges. It seems that among us, are Gorge Eaters and they have disguised themselves as gorges. Meaning someone could be a Gorge Eater right now, we should vote on who we suspect, and trust, who is trustworthy”.

No one died today, but I made some random name died for story purposes.

Day 1 will end on Wednesday 5:00PM (PST) (GMT -8).
Instalynch is at 11. And we need someone to change the topic title from night 1 to day 1 .

Oh yeah wolves, psychic, seer, wizard, and guardian,(or any players) you may PM me what your plans/strats are/will be, so I can list them for post game.

Good job guardian. As always, I will start off the day with a random vote, let's go with Theslan.

Voting for CMEast because of not being able to follow instructions as simple as "And this is Night 1, No Posting!" and "no editing of posts." It's as good a reason as any.

According to people on IRC, the original content of his post was "Ok, random vote for Nurot just because you're new and I enjoy taking peoples cherry's," which brings me to my second point: If we are to believe what people said last game, almost every single vote in that entire game was random. Yeah right. Frankly, by now, "random vote" has just about as much value as "I'm not a wolf" - you may be speaking the truth, but you may just as well be lying, and unless we have a reason to trust you it's likely that we won't.
So by saying "random vote for Nurot because so and so," CMEast actually hits the nail on the head: "Random" votes are a farce. "Random vote" tends to mean "I don't want to divulge my reasons for voting."

I'm going to also vote for CMEast. I have no problem against him; it just seems like he sports a weird attitude, and seemed like he wanted to get a vote in early on IRC.

EDIT: explained in IRC, by Petco. Makes sense.

Great on guardian save though, just what we need to start it off.

Because im lost randomly voted against me, I'll vote against him. Though, if you are in any danger, I'll move my vote off to another no vote guy/gal (is there a gal playing this round?).

    Current votes:

CMEast - 2 (Fatal Error, lolfighter)
    Theslan - 1 (im lost)
    im lost - 1 (Theslan)

Yeah, the day started an hour early because I received all PMs already, everyone was waiting for the day to start, so I just started Day 1 an hour early. The time Day 1 ends didn't change so it didn't really change much.

And remember when no one died, it doesn't really mean the guardian saved someone, a Wizard could have activated his (50% chance) ability to not die but reveal himself to the wolves, and the wizard will know who all 3 wolves are as well the other way around.

Only the guardian, wizard, and wolves know if it was a guardian save or wizard's ability.

    Edit: And the Psychic too.

I was tempted to copy+paste my opening post to the last game, but that caused more **** than it was worth for me

Instead, i'm going to hold my vote until something a bit more concrete (Yes, i know) comes up. Nice one on the Guardian save, by the way.

If the wolves and the wizard are running in the same pack right from the start, then we're majorly screwed, and there's not much we can do about it. I'd rather believe the guardian made a save...

OK then, not completely random but it may as well have been. My reasons?

Simple, picking any of the people that I know have already played the game might put me as a suspect. i.e. a vote for Freak83 looks wolfish, as does a vote for Saltzbad (not applicable in this game), The Muffin Man etc. These are all names of people who really know what they are doing and removing them from the game looks suspicious. Plus, these are people I've talked to so I might be able to work out when they are acting differently.

Nurot is the first name my eyes fell on that I've had no contact with whatsoever so a) nothing could be viewed in my vote either way (that was the plan at least) and b) he was also the least likely person to get voted off for the same reason, he won't be seen as a threat. This means that I don't get a phantom vote but don't have to worry about killing someone off if I miss a deadline.

Finally, I'm dopey, hadn't even realised I'd done it as you well know Fatal Error. Especially as a) how does an 'early' vote help me? b) if that was the plan then why would I instantly edit as soon as I knew (I was talking to petco at the time and he mentioned that I couldn't post yet). c) My attitude is always weird as everyone who knows me will tell you .

I vote for you now instead because you're trying to start a bandwagon straight away on grounds you know are false because you were there at the time (you're the one who announced what I wrote, even turned it into a setinfo). If it was a genuine suspicion I wouldn't mind but to me it looks like you're just jumping on lolfighters perfectly understandable vote.

After all, when the game first starts we really don't know who to trust and we have no evidence to base suspicions on (except poor bobs death , serves the skulk right for sneaking aboard). However I do think that lolfighters accusations against the word random are slight spurious at this time. While random can often mean you don't want to say, it often, especially at this early stage of the game, simply means that my reasons aren't any good or it genuinely was based on a random number generator or something.

Oh, my reasons for keeping all that stuff above to my chest at first? Because a) I didn't feel it necessary to spout all that out and b) because if it looks like I think too much about this stuff I may be seen as more of a threat than I currently am. I survived last game by looking harmless and inept

Besides, while the phrase 'random vote' may mean as little as 'I'm not a wolf', I enjoy nonsense like that, as you all know from my declarations of humanity from the previous game.

    So... is that enough?

What a great way to vote. Why don't we all just random.org our votes? I'm sure the game will be lovely.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
lolfighter, if you care to have any logical reason to vote for any particular person this early in the game, let's here it. Otherwise, random votes are real, for at least the vanilla humans. I know from personal experience playing on both sides of the fence that it is all the special roles can do to make there votes appear random when everyone else really is clueless.

Personally I'm inclined to think CMEast is being a bit too defensive, but then again we've seen this situation before with slacky. One human makes a random vote that wasn't so random, then gets bandwagon-ed to hell the first day, because people think that will make them seem more human by agreeing with the crowd. So, mainly to just prove a point, I will be random.org-ing my first vote, obviously subject to change. And the winner is...Helfire3k. Subject to change in the (unlikely) event that someone seems to really deserve a vote.

    Oh, and gj guardian. _o7

Nil IQ, I like making the first vote of the day, no particular reason. In TWG 6 I did it every day as the psychic, and in TWG 5 I did it every day as a human. I'm quite positive I won't be able to find a wolf on the first day, so my vote is either random, or I jump on a bandwagon. Either way, there's no reasoning behind my vote, so a random vote to start the day is as good as any other vote I could make. Besides, it seems to do a good job of starting up discussion and getting others to vote, which is why I started doing it back in whatever game it was where I started doing it.

  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
Maybe it doesn't help, but it doesn't hurt. IMO, running around chasing ghosts of hunches, trying to actively lynch someone the first day, THAT'S more hurtful than anything, because it allows the wolves to hide behind the shield of "oh I agree with so-and-so's logic, vote". Trust me, if the wolves this game are anything like me, they want someone to become a target. It takes the heat off of their justifications for voting, and eliminates the chance that one of them is randomly lynched.
