64 Bits Of Pwnage...

A few months ago my boss gave me his Nintendo 64 cause he never played it. I was quite busy at the time, and so it just sat around for months. I had never had a N64 before, because I got out of consoles completely after my disappointment over the 32X (and my discovery of a little game called Wolfenstein), so I missed a few of the new age classics for it.

Last week I got Mario 64 and Paper Mario off eBay.

OMG.

They pwn!

Mario 64 I've already beaten, I finished it last weekend. Absolutely pwn game. It has to be good, because that camera is so damn awful. I lost count of how many times I died because of the camera. It makes me appreciate how 3D games today have finally gotten that down.

This weekend its Paper Mario. I loved Paper Mario 2 for Gamecube, and this one is every bit as pwn. My only complaint is just how similar they are. Your first three party members (at least) are the exact same, barring the graphic used (since its a different person) as characters in the Thousand Year Door. The enemies, and even somewhat the order in which you encounter them are also, so far, identical. I just wish there was a bit more variety.

So...have you played Ocarina of Time? I never got around to beating it, but I wish I could find an N64. Still got my cartridge...

I remember you going off to play that in #naturalselection <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Mario 64 does indeed rock. Dire Dire Docks ftw.

Don't forget to at least rent Majora's Mask and Perfect Dark, those two are the very best the N64 has to offer.

Perfect Dark. God. I've only ever had one gamer friend, but he had 3 brothers, two around our age. 4 player mayhem is so fun. I had a tendency to punch people in the head for being idiots, though.

At least their vision doesn't get that blurry in real life.

(That annoyed the hell outta me in the game. Other than that, loads of fun.)

Paper Mario had a much more superior battle tune to Paper Mario 2. But that's the only thing that's better.

A lot of people have some great nostalgic memories of Goldeneye, but if you've never played either of them before, there's not much point in playing it when you can play Perfect Dark, unless you want to try the (admittedly awesome) singleplayer.

I got a lot of good playtime out of my n64. And I gotta say that out of all the games I've played. BioFreaks and the Clayfighter ones are the few that stick out in my memory.

    Super Smash Bros?

Also, the only sports game I ever liked was Major Leauge Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Junior (or whoever) for N64. No idea why.

    Rayman 2?

    Banjo-Kazooie?

    Jet Force Gemini?

    Mario Party?

    Ocarania of Time?

    Kirby: The Crystal Shards?

And of course, the grand masterpiece of the N64, Pokemon Snap.

And since it was the same generation, if you haven't yet, get Mega Man X4.

    (P.S. Wasn't there a Killer Instinct for N64?)

EDIT: Oh yeah, I remember 32x... I had a Genesis 2 w/32x and Sega CD... Only games I got for CD were Silpheed and Prince of Persia, though, and 32x was just Mortal Kombat II and Doom (which crashed out to the DOS emulator once O.o)

mario kart 64 is dirt compared to the awe and majesty of super mario 64 + the yummyness of super smash Bros. you can't deny super smash bros. i wasted even more hours on that game then i did mario 64. i did the calculations once... and i played the game for over +1000 hours a year.

Oh god yes. Smash Bros changed the way I view life. Now everything I do is just a combination of button presses and directional stick movements.

Up Smash followed by a nuetral air to post.

Yeah there's a new category of friends for a lot of people.

The "deep" friends you talk with all the time about stuff you assume is really deep.

The "movie" friends you go see movies with. Sometimes it's to go bash movies, sometimes it's because you want to play big boy and pretend to be a critic.

The "party" friends you go hang out with at like 2:00 am and go do random stupid **** with. Like tying a string across a road between two poles at windshield level and hanging glazed donuts from them.

The "annoying" friends who've been with you since elementary but you can't send them away because well you just can't.

And now the "smash" friends who comeover just to play smash. It like supplanted all the other reasons to hang out with them, if there were any. I don't have any of these now, but my brother used to have a few guys who came over just to play 2v2 smash, my brother and I vs them.

    ----------------------
    :: EDIT ::
Here's something to start your list:

    Super Smash Bros. 64
    Mario Kart 64
    Mario Tennis
    Paper Mario
    Perfect Dark
    Goldeneye 64
    Starfox 64
    Starwars: Shadows of the Empire
Rogue Squadron <- The first and what should have been the last.
    Conker's Bad Fur Day

    --------------------
    Hall of <s>Shi</s> Shame.

Doraemon 64 <- I <i>still</i> believe the rumor that only 1 copy of this was sold in the U.S. and it was returned 1 hour later.
Hey You Pikachu <- If the peripheral was a rifle then yes. Sadly it was not.

    MORE TO BE ADDED.
