I don't do emo, myself. Angst is bad. Indie's fine, though.
• AlienCowAlienCow Join Date: 2003-09-20 Member: 21040Members
Indie is generally twangy, which is no good thing in my opinion! Tbh its all opinion how you class music anyway, so I probably technically listen to everything from pop to hardcore metal, but I just call it all deathly dark rockin' emo.

Mostly Rock/metal stuff, and a bit of random stuff here and there.
http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/raz0r/

To summarise:

Metallica
Atreyu
Fear Factory
Arch Enemy
Tool
Led Zeppelin
etc.

Can't stand trance music, and most rap just annoys me.
despite most of Arch Enemy's and Atreyu's vocals consisting of screaming, the music is actually quite melodic.

Basically anything sans rap. Few examples...

Blind Guardian
Nightwish
Rhapsody
Pink Floyd (obviously, in sig)
Some Apocalyptica
Beethoven/Mozart/Bach/etc
Trans-Siberian Orchestra ("Beethoven's Last Night" album a must)
Elton John
Aerosmith

The rest is anything I find catchy; Scattered over Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc etc you get the idea. Oh, and classic country music. Not the neo-country-sounds-like-rock stuff. Stabbing Westward is starting to grow on me, also. Been in love with Jazz for a long time, as well.

There's my diverse musical taste.

Really depends on my mood, but I'm open to trying pretty much anything. I tend to gravitate between industrial and club noize, though.

Current playlist has Breaking Benjamin, Queen, Terrorfakt, some Japanese bands, Dragon Ash (Japanese hiphop/punk), Guilty Gear XX, a whole lot of OC Remix, Michael Jackson, NIN, Rammstein, Benassi, Alizee (French pop), Daft Punk, Rob Zombie, VNV Nation, Imperative Reaction, WASTE, and the Spawn movie soundtrack.

I vote we all make twoflow play... no more sitting on the sidelines sniping for you!

My main love right now is for Amon Tobin, and to a lesser extent squarepusher and Plug, they are the cream of the crop when it comes to breakbeat if you ask me.
<3 also to boom boom satellites and venetian snares (even though I only respect them rather then 'like them').

away from breakbeat/ DnB I like almost most things, anything on Ninjatune is good for me. I like Classics that arent too 'sentimental', anything a little darker like The Rite of Spring.

I like a few metal bands still, can respect alot of thrash, love some of the more accessable Jazz names, still have a space in my heart for Radiohead, and generally like anything that sounds fresh to me (Mr bungle/ Animal Collective etc..), though I dont like extreme sounds for the hell of it.. I think songs need groove, and many on Warp (for example) seem to just push for abusive sounds without much context... blah blah.. though Autechre are pretty good.

heres a few more random names;
Mr Scruff, Tool, Herbie Hancock, Pink Floyd, Portishead, NIN, Pantera, Hexstatic, Hive..

As far as I'm concerned, bashing bands because they are 'pop' or just not what you would listen to is stupid. If somebody enjoys the music let them have their fun. Of course this doesn't apply to manufactured bands which should be avoided like the plague and most definately not encouraged.

Classic rock is, in general, much better than the new stuff. I can go days with one Rolling Stones CD in the car. Lead Zeppelin, AC/DC, Van Halen, and Black Sabboth are some of the best.

The problem I have with new stuff is that it all sounds the same. My dad thinks along simliar lines, and he first postulated that it was old-fartness kicking in. However, I was there to reassure him that at least one person younger than him thinks the same thing. Godsmack, Puddle of Mud, Nickelback, Audioslave, and such... you can barely tell the difference between them. Then there's Linkin Park, which sounds different, but all they do is let their lead singer scream at the top of his lungs while the rest of the band recycles a beat from some other song at the same tempo and in the same key.

However, I do like Green Day. Call me punk or emo all you want, but it's still good music and I still don't plan on committing suicide.

I'll also listen to a well-scored and well-performed classical or baroque peace every now and then.

I was thinking more along the lines of sieging a castle and listening to O Fortuna (greatest song ever, I kid you not), but whatever floats your boat.

I have a list made out already. Organized by artist, then album, and I have marked my favorite songs (and in some cases, the only songs that I listen to by them if I have the whole cd) with asterisks.

While the rest of the music in the band is basically repeating itself, I dare you to go listen to My December, and come back and say he does is scream.

My musical tastes? A bit of everything. I could listen to Rammstein or NIN, anything even just semi-heavy, then turn the TV on and relax to Britney Spears. I get weird looks when I tell people my musical tastes.

And this is what happens when you want to keep your posts as short as possible by reducing the amount of letters, for example by instead writing the two letters "CE" you rather just use the letter "D" which is placed in the middle between "C" and "E".
It is like maths, where you create the average out of"1+3" by summing it up to "1+3=4" and then dividing to "4/2=2", I was like "(C+E)/2=D".

\o/ explanations.

Please tell me your joking right? Should we all go die because we have a different taste, a diffrent opinion on the people we find attractive? Just to give a comparison on how stupid you sound.

Get off that god damn high horse and come live with the rest of us in the real world. The lack of oxygen up there seems to have fuddled your brain.
