Which is faster and/or more maneuverable? ISD's (for their ship size obviously) are capable of fairly rapid redeployment & a decent top speed (see the initial chase after the Correlian Blockade Runner for this) whereas if I remember correctly from the WC games, the Concordia takes a year & a day to get anywhere, as well as the fact the ISD can jump fairly quickly, while the Conc takes also ages to do so. (And REQUIRES jump points no less)<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->They were able to keep up with or even close on the Millenium Falcon in SW:ANH

<!--QuoteBegin-Shockwave+Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Shockwave @ Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->That means no lateral aiming for the weapon at all (actually if I remember correctly {insert hazy recollection of when I decided to try to blow the Conc up} the Conc's entire anti-captial ship weaponry is forward fixed mount, only it's anti fighter weapons were turreted) whereas the entirity of the ISD's weaponry is turret based.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->So this all depends on just how good the Concordia's angular acceleration is...

<!--QuoteBegin-Shockwave+Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Shockwave @ Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->If that's the case, what's to stop the quite fast ISD from simply circling the Conc and bombarding the bejesus out of it (which is entirely what an ISD is meant originally to do, bombardment)<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->Not alot...

<!--QuoteBegin-Shockwave+Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Shockwave @ Mar 15 2004, 10:03 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I think the fighter engagements would be largely fruitless, the sheer numbers of TIE's would overwhelm the Conc's, but the Conc fighters tend to have a higher individual skill level & ship quality.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->The Concordia has more fighters (~100 to 72 combat TIEs + any assault gunboats), but all the TIE's have to do is prevent an attack. TIE/B's slinging proton torps or concussion missiles are going to give the enemy fighters a problem.

Stormies are nasty. Their E-11 carbines are capable of fully automatic fire and each shot is powerful enough to blow fragments out of the surroundings. These fragments of bulkheads are moving fast enough to kill. Their armour is fully sealed, allowing breif exposure to hard vacuum without any special life support modules and is fully protected from bio/chemical weapons. The white plates provide extremely good protection against physical impacts. Personal sheilding on some troopers is implied in the Star Wars novelisation.

The problem is getting the TIE boarding craft over to the Concordia.

    Just a few things...
<ul><li>Confederation class dreadnoughts can turn at 1 degree per second. That doesn't sound very fast to me, so there you go <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--></li><li>Top speed is the very nebulous "100kps". I've seen that expanded as "klicks per second", and I'm pretty sure based on ingame relative speeds that it's <i>not</i> kilometres per second. Mind you, maybe it it reasonably quick; the fastest fighters on the Concordia can reach 500kps (without using the afterburner).</li><li>They've still got 8 turret-mounted Anti-Matter guns, which ignore shields. I guess that depends on how Star Wars shields work, but I'm prety sure they hurt like hell nonetheless.</li><li>Confederation fighters have missiles, too. They've also got chaff pods, and they've also got afterburners with a large fuel reserve. The threat from concussion missiles and such probably isn't as high as you'd think since they've got the capacity to accelerate <i>very</i> fast, using the afterburners. In fact, in the game, unless you want to use up all your chaff pods you pretty much have to use your burner to dodge missiles.</li><li>How many missiles do confed fighters have? In its anti-fighter configuration, the Sabre heavy fighter has four image recognition missiles (locks on to a specific target), two friend or foe missiles (you just fire them, and they go after anyone not transmitting Confed ID codes) and two dumbfire missiles. That can be swapped for six torpedoes and two other missiles. The Sabre is the upper limit (well, out of the fighters on the Concordia).</li><li>As far as I know, there are security personnel on the Concordia. How would they fare against Stormtroopers? They'd probably get their arses kicked. In Wing Commander II (the game the TCS Concordia's from) in one of the cutscenes a traitor murders someone in the comms room, and he's armed with what looks like a modern (um, I mean modern as in 2004 real life) bullet firing pistol. I could be wrong. Anyway, the Concordia isn't really equipped to capture stuff, so it doesn't have soldiers on hand. Of course, they have to get through the fighters first (and survive the flak cannon when they're there).</li><li>I wish I knew in more detail how the Phase Shields work, but there's the possibility that turbolasers won't work on them at all <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->.</li><li>I'd be more worried about the ISD handling the Broadsword bombers than whether the Concordia can handle TIE/Bmrs, in particular whether the TIEs can shoot them down. Broadsword have back and side turrets <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--></li></ul>
