Well let's do the math, now that I've checked the forum. He's spent about 1950 PPs on this attack (wow), and at the time he sent it, I had a lvl 4 star base (14 defense). His fleet has a Combat Value of 195 (ouch), so at the time he sent it, that was overkill. Now I've spent 300 PPs on my star base at that planet, bringing it up to lvl 9 (150 defense). So if I'm lucky enough to boost it to lvl 10 (227 defense) in time, I should be able to clean the floor with him. Hopefully my other fleet of 6 destroyers (a pitiful 18 defense) will make it home in time and possibly save the day. The drama, the suspense!

Boggle, if that guy comes back and your fleet is away - then he could dump all his accumulated pp into a starbase and make things very interesting.
The best way to work things - never ever send a fleet to any planet that your friend is sending a fleet to. Do everything that you can to make sure they never meet. So if you want to take a planet - you can ask your allyto kill the starbase, and then bring your own combat ships and transports in when he leaves.
You'll prolly be fine, so long as a transport never ends up at an nme planet that isnt being seiged, and your two fleets never meet. Word of warning, his fleet may arrive early - so make sure you leave plenty of room for error.
Nil_IQ - how much exp did you get from that little "slaughtering of the lambs"? How many SU's?
Transmission - go all out for that lvl 10 starbase, and research mathematics like their is no tomorrow - which there wont be if you cant handle his fleet. Its hard to say which is better, carrier or destroyer.
Carrier is better for defence, destroyer is better for offence. And also remember, if you have one carrier and it wins taking 90% losses - it stays alive and automatically repairs itself to full health. PP lost - zero. However if you have the same pp value in destroyers (ie 8 destroyers) and you take 90% losses, then you lose 7/8 destroyers. PP lost - 210.

You cant rely on numbers too much in this game. There are random factors thrown into each battle, sure you might have an attack of 30 and they have a defence of 20, but you can still lose. The only way you are really, really guaranteed victory is to have atleast twice their defence in your attack, say, 40 vs. 20.
For now, I'm just going for economy. There's one threat in my system right now, I'm far far stronger (I have three planets, to his one), but still, he's a pest. Have to deal with him soon or it could get nasty :|

HORSE-STEALER: He won't be so High And Mighty if there are only 12 planets in the system, and you have 11. That'd be pretty good reason for him to get the hell out of there.
Both pretty sneaky tactics, and that way you don't need to Hammer him into submission through some long and bloody feud.

Sorry eediot I wasnt terribly clear in explaining it. The idea is - if you move between planet 12 and planet 1, that can take you absolute ages, like 12 hours or more.
If you move between planets 1 and planet 2, that takes a hell of a lot less time - so if you time it right, and get heaps of energy, and launch the fleet just when he goes to bed you can have your fleet at his planet before he knows about it.
i have 4 planets now, 15 destroyers, 1 colony ship and 1 battleship, should i bring them all to my home planet and let them hang out in there and if i come under attack send them to help that planet. or should i keep them all spread out throughout all 4 planets (which i guess they would be weaker).

If the transports go along with a fleet and a fleet wins, the transports survive. They are only killed if all your combat ships in the same fleet die. So they will then proceed to take over the planet assuming that they have the required level of culture.

kida - change your science to social do not spend ANY PP [production points] in your planet yet. you can get to your planet by going to 'planet' then clicking on the planet name. it has a list of buildings and ships that you can buy/upgrade. dont do any yet until you research a bit more. i would suggest waiting until you have enough PP to upgrade BOTH your Hydroponic Farm and your Robotic Factory to lvl 3 at the same time. That will cost like 60 PP i think.
If you want to spend money on it, i.e upgrade or buy a ship, click on 'spend points' in the planet window. then SELECT HOW MUCH MONEY YOU WANT TO SPEND [ONLY spend exactly enough money to complete upgrade/buy it...] then select the one you want to buy.
then just log on once every day at the same time for 3 days, and adjust your things better.
when you have like level 5 hydro, lvl 5 robotic, lvl 4 galatic cybernet, lvl 5 energy, lvl 7 social, then buy a colony ship. send it to the CLOSEST UNINHABITED planet to you.

You're best off making a farm or factory first, I like the farm, but either is okay. Then you switch off those two until they're around level 3ish. Then it depends what you want to do.
For science, I recommend social first (more population = more science and more pp)...Once it's up to 2 or 4 switch it around. Math is good too.
im lvl 0 on maths, and i dont see the need for it. my fleets will still get there at the same time, and this early in the game i dont really need to time it perfectly to get them between logons.

I suggest math after social, because math is supposed to (besides adjusting the time calculations) add defense...I'm not sure how much though. Which is why you might want to go with energy instead. Always go with social first, population is important.
