Shouldnt have been removed.. I have seen it have trouble loading certain mods at times, workshop seems slow/buggy sometimes :/. I am not at home atm so I cannot confirm.
edit - ok wtf private, you should see it know i think i messed up the last publish cause i was half asleep.
About the fade issue, there was some serious tickrate issues with the inital build which may have caused some hitreg issues, I am hoping thats all resolved with the current one however we havent run a larger playtest yet to confirm.
Yes, it's now in workshop. To find a server people, you should server with these maps: ns2_tanith_beta.level and ns2_eclipse_beta.level There is one with NS2C and its not combat ^^
Marine hud is mostly unchanged (removed some lines and adjusted positions), but yea alien hud is a WIP.. Wanted to move away from the dials since I felt they were somewhat hard to read quickly and also had significant delay. Also wanted to add chamber counts and hive health info without taking up too much space. I do hope to get some better texture for the health bars and possible an overlay again, but was running out of time when designing it so i cut some parts out.

I remember there being friendly fire on players and structures in an earlier version, didn't notice it on the Monash Aus server that is running. Is that an option to turn on/off?
Hey ok we had "some" players, it was a fun thing to see the old gameplay. But there is a lot of stuff missing, which is the reason i guess, for most empty server. For start, its very good work! Electric Rts are missing, 360° Sentrys, the turret factory should be smaller and on. But really, for the first version its great.
wonderful work, I hope you keep improving the mod.
only reason its an empty server is because of the low population ns2 currently has. And i'm sure older vets already moved on, but maybe if NS2 gets its act together we should see more active servers, not just on these modded servers. Again, thank you for making it.

Another reason is that the servers dont show up when you use Menumod.... lots of the people who would play ns2c use menumod.
hmm, I actually don't use Menumod, but that's strange never knew about that. They need to add steam browser support, for much cleaner interface. If they refuse to do that, i wonder if someone has to make mod for that, haha, geez.
I think, that the aim of NS2c should be remake of original NS1 as close as possible. Some kind of hybrid nobody will want to play - not NS1 players not NS2 players. For blend between NS1 and NS2 I suggest to release a differenet mod, something like NS2c+
6v6 with like 60 hydra's and buildings all over the entire map. I sat at 100 fps constant the whole game.... The game feels as smooth as hl1 with 100 fps!
Unfortunately I have that bug where NS2 locks up when trying to join a server running mods. I really hope they can fix this soon, I want to play some games of NS2c so bad...

somewhat, but not really. For example adding infestation isn't bad idea, but just the visual appeal - infestation won't play any major role on gameplay but only make alien environment feel more alive. Just allow alien buildings to generate infestation where every they are, to certain X amount of radius, that's about it mostly.
things like that would be nice if they added, but again only for visual appeal. We don't need those silly cysts.
Hi, I am getting "Client and Server Differ" when I go to join my server, I have the ConsistencyConfig check set to not check for any files. I have other servers that run other mods and I have the ConsistencyConfig setup the same and they work cause if I don't I get the error.

Infestation may not play a major role in the gameplay, but it does play a role in the performance. Removing Infestation provides a nice performance boost in my mods, admittedly if only the hive spawns infestation, it won't be such a problem, but if all structures do it might.
Hey all, I'm also having some problems joining servers that are running the classic mod.
I tried subscribing and having the mod active and joining the server but I would run into a problem where during the loading screen it would start "downloading mods" and would subsequently freeze/hang my NS2.
I then tried removing all mods (Well, I unsubscribed to them and none are active anymore) and I still run into the same freeze on loading screen and the "downloading mods" part of the joining of the server.
Has anyone run into something similar or have thoughts on a work around?

Looks like there's no other work around other than having a CPU with more than two logical cores.

This is interesting & ns2c really does seem to smoke along with performance.
I wonder what the root cause is on this.
is it purely the increased # of entities OR is it mainly rooted in "SpawnInfestation" logic. If the latter then perhaps Max's work will move more of this processing into the engine and we'll get a decent perf boost in NS2 proper.

Also, could really use a european server running this :O

Next try: tomorrow.
But it was nice to see all the old upgrades so far, but some tooltips are missing Dragon.
If people want to play ns2c, there are atleast 4 public servers up most of the time for anyone to go play.
NS2:C Classic Mod #1 [MODDED]
NS2:C Classic Mod #2 [MODDED]
NS2:C Classic Mod #3 [MODDED]
NS2:C Classic Mod #4 [MODDED]
Team noGG
Monash
