it's not relics fault they make superior RTS games <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
<a href="http://www.bubustylez.com/SC2Torrents/" target="_blank">http://www.bubustylez.com/SC2Torrents/</a> <- direct torrent links to artwork- and cinematic movies, instead of crappy blizzard downloader, thanks to some digger.
Hijacking my own thread, anyone got these custom NS models? <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=7904469844828439552&showtopic=99206&st=120&gopid=1627770&#" target="_blank">Starcraft Community Pack</a>

You can always use youtube grabber or a samiliar programm.
The most videos are on youtube - but that's crap quality of course. The official site has all the high-res released videos. Tomorrow the gameplay video will be released there :S
So there you have it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Well this just confirms that Blizzard are in production of two games doesn't it? Considering SC2 looks RTS as far as I can see and there are a lot of job openings for a new next-gen MMO going at Blizzard. Doesn't take a genius to work out that all 3 of the main Blizzard franchises (Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo) are starting to reach their potential.
EDIT: Of course I am assuming the next-gen MMO positions are going for a Diablo based game basing that on WoW being MMO already and a Starcraft game being made as RTS. It makes sense in my head.

i seriously doubt that could be even remotely true. the hirings for the next gen mmo are probably for wow and the expansion packs they are going to have for it for the next eternity.
edit: also apparently sc2 has been in production since the wc3 the frozen throne came out in 2003

Yeah, I agree that Blizzard is unlikely to be doing a new MMO any time soon. If you Google for the Q&A session which the developers had during the Seoul Blizzard Invitational, they emphasise the fact that they are focusing on SC2 and continuing development of WoW. There are no hints of any other games in development or of Diablo 3 or any other MMO (thank god).

I have one concern, it is small but it is a concern nonetheless.
When one of the Terran Battlecruiser dies, it doesn't "explode" so much as "fall apart".
It was a blurry video yes, but I barely saw any flame or explosions on the ship when it went down, to be honest when a battlecruiser blows up I expect an actual explosion. Having the ship 'fall apart' is all well and good when you have the havok physics engine running in your game, but by gods at least make the ship fireball as well.

seriously... their implementation of bittorrent is trash, it's giving me a "An incompatible network driver was detected, peer to peer is disabled" with the most recent drivers on a very standard and common NIC which has no problem running any other p2p programs or protocols..
thanks for those youtube video links, and if anyone has a mirror for the official trailers from starcraft2.com (http://starcraft2.com/movies.xml) that doesn't use the dysfunctional blizzard downloader software please post em.
Great. Brood War with a handful of new units, a marginally better looking graphics engine, a horrifically zoomed-in viewpoint, and the exact same gameplay that's been there for nine years. Awesome.

Why should the gameplay change to a great degree? They're improving on what has worked for them and appealing to the same fanbase. If the gameplay was to be dramatically altered to a new format, then I imagine the game would not be called 'Starcraft <b>2</b>'. Also, as far as I can see, with the new unit changes the gameplay will have a little bit of altering (although not so far off that it is not recognizeable from original Starcraft) and all the units seem to have their own little quirks. Zerglings can go suicidal, and zealots can charge. It all seems new to me.

Blizzard managed to change the gameplay radically between Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 and still mak a good game. If people just wanted Starcraft with a few different units, they'd play Brood War.

Pikmin was the only RTS that was really different.
But the point of a sequel is to evolve how the game plays, not just add prettier graphics. I expected Blizzard to add something to encourage new strategies besides new units and encourage some player ingenuity. So far, noting.
Apart from the, you know, expansion of the story line? Not everything about the game has been announced yet. They have plenty of time to trying something 'radical' despite the fact that one has yet to actually come with a suggestion that would make the gameplay 'innovative' for them.
