The comm chair software has encountered a problem and needs to restart. Would you like to check for a solution and restart the program?

Just reminiscing here, but I really disliked the NS1 mode of res usage. Alien success was wholly dependent on players sacrificing their res to build for the common good. Someone had to agree to go gorge early on and devote their … -

I like this idea. Is it possible to do such a thing today?
I really liked the commander tutorials in the game. The voice actor did a really nice job, and the UI forced you to take specific actions. It was clear and b… -

I'd say you can't change those types of players. If they don't want to do tutorials, they probably don't want to devote the time and effort into getting better, and so they won't. They'll probably leave after passing the rookie l… -

I think most rookies are fine as marines, but the skill gap on aliens is MONSTROUS. I'm in a unique position, I stopped playing NS2 maybe 4 years ago before the whole rookie tag came into being. I started playing again about a mo… -
I miss the player base from 2003 NS1. I used to run a server and we had a group of regulars that frequented all the time. Matches were almost always fun, lasted forever, and those friendships carried over to many other games. Many of them were fr…

NS2 games last a lot longer than other team-based games with dedicated servers, and they're much more intense. At least, I feel that way. I feel much more involved in a lengthy, hard-fought battle in NS2 than I do in something like TF2 which feels…

Making changes to either of the two most common lifeforms (marine + LMG, skulk + bite) could dramatically impact balance. At the very least, any "buff" to aliens can only negatively impact marines, and they're still not at the magical 50% win rate …

The mod OP is referring to existed in NS1 and was installed on a few servers back in the day. It featured dynamic balancing, so it switched players from one side to the other DURING the game, not before. The commander was not aff… -

You must play on only a single server with an active admin, then. I've played nearly 500 hours, and have been trolled dozens upon dozens of times. Yesterday was especially problematic, as a pack of trolls were running from one se… -

This has become the "in" thing to do. I've been in at least 5 games now in the last week or so where our team has completely stomped the opposing side, and we voluntarily conceded when it became apparent that they were going to F4… -
These trolls were rampant yesterday. There are at least three of them, working in concert to disrupt as many games as possible. Typically as marines they'll let the game run for a while, then recycle everything and waste those resources by scannin…

This. Stop playing on giant servers with a thousand players. The game was balanced for 6v6. I've found a good mix can be found on 16 or 18 player servers, and I completely and utterly avoid anything more than 18.

Done.

Okay, well if that's the case, fix the server title to include "ns_tram 24/7" or something to that effect.

Like people wouldn't find it out immediately, it's pretty blatant.

Yup, me too. I see "Voogru Hive" on my list and I simply ignore it.

I thought about that, too... but then reconsidered when you realize the potential for the comm to troll his team with drawings of dicks and boobs. -

Yes, of course. But highlighting a few areas in this way should not take much time at all. It'll be useful for players just joining the server, as well, so they get up to speed quickly. Not to mention helping those who don't use… -
If only marines had one weapon that would completely wipe out an alien base. Like an EMP depth charge they could purchase and set up in the alien hive. Then it'll nuke everything in sight. Then, and only then, will gorge bile bomb no longer be OP…

I saw a mild drop in performance with 238, not the same level as others have reported, but it was noticeable. 239 has seen a pretty dramatic improvement overall, probably to the highest level I've ever experienced. DxDiag output attached.Okay I've reproduced the bug [video].

Maybe that's what happened to us. Placed a new cyst too close to an existing one, which killed off the others. If that's the default behavior now, that's quite annoying. I guess it's to fix the issue with getting stuck in certa…(Quote)
I'll give it a go and see if I can reproduce it.
1. Phase gate. Marines can phase back to base for health/ammo, so building armory first isn't necessary. Comm chair? Silly choice. Extractor would be the next choice, and then an armory. So in this scenario, I'd go PG, extractor, armory, move o…I have never been satisfied with performance in NS2. I'm biding my time until I can afford to purchase a new rig. Been playing on a 5yo box (3.0 GHz E8400 core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM) with a more recent GPU (Radeon HD 5870, 2 GB). r_profile suggests I'm…(Quote)
I really long for the old cysting behavior. Was it really so broken that it needed all these "improvements"? Cysting is such a pain right now.
