<div class="IPBDescription">Let's remember to be accommodating as much as possible</div>This is great! The $15 sale has brought in a huge influx of new players. I played on a couple servers tonight where I was literally the only non-green player there. Of course, this is really good and yet somewhat challenging at the same time, since literally 90% of the people in the game had no idea what they were doing. I ended up serving as commander for most of the games, particularly as aliens, since the learning curve there is so steep. But my alien teammates caught on quickly and took to direction quite readily. Just had to explain some of the basics, like how to evolve upgrades and then how to activate some of the 2-hive upgrades, and they were good to go.

So just as a friendly reminder to all the NS veterans out there... if you find yourself surrounded by green rookies, try to be as helpful and welcoming as possible. Judging by tonight's turnout, there's going to a huge wave of players coming in over the next two weeks. Don't be afraid of joining rookie-friendly servers and serving as commander. Those servers desperately need veteran presence to provide some assistance and expert tutelage. Be patient and encouraging as much as you possibly can, and NS2 is sure to gain a slew of new players who will stick around and keep playing.

The more the servers are full, the better for everyone!

+1 New players are fun because of their ability to be constantly amazed by the game. Also because lose or win they will never show as much frustration as vets!

I've been having a blast. Helping out rookies. It's just the best. All the tactics that were useful two days ago are now out the window and you just have to roll with whatever strategy you think your particular team of green names can accomplish.

After last nights games I'm really looking forward to having a mess about tonight. Playing with so many rooks that were enthusiastic was brilliant :)

It's making me learn to be comm... which is a good thing I guess.

Very much so. There's basically zero stress serving as comm to an entire team of rookies. They have no idea whether you're doing well or completely screwing up. That said, one must be quite patient with a team that struggles with waypoints and fundamentals, like walking up to the armory to heal and equip.

Just try and play as Com if you are an experienced player. Actually contributing to the game as a soldier I found is really, quite unfair. My friend recently got the game and I followed him into a Rookie Server last night, I simply commanded every game and taught everyone the basics. The times I hopped out of chair or hive I felt completely OP.

It was actually a blast being in the teaching role, I haven't experienced that in awhile. The only time I became frustrated was on Summit playing as Kham. I controlled the entire map with cysts, lame everywhere, and four hives. My Rookie Aliens, just didn't understand the concept of going "Rhino" and pushing the power node in Data Core to win. I ultimately got out and pushed with the team as a Gorge to demonstrate how the power mechanics work in NS2.

It's good but i've noticed a lot of them being aggressive over the mic or start throwing around hack accusations because they don't understand the game.

Although both sides of the fence need to co-operate a little more, IMO. Seems like there's a lot of vets losing it over "bad teams" when half the team is Green.

I see lots of them stating that "Game sucks", because they get pwnt all the time.

Even telling them to use Bile Bomb instead of Spit helps a lot!

lots of rookies will result into stomping, veteran's don't want to play with rookies and rookie's don't know anybetter to switch teams.

this means rookies go marines, veterans go to aliens once they see whole marine team is full of green colour, and sits in readyroom until they can join non rookie team -> pub stomping.

this happened 90% of the times i've been playing.

Yeah. Patience is the best thing you contribute, as well as resisting the urge to dominate. Having been a player since the NS1 launch, it's really reminded me how daunting and different the game must be for new players. I'm spending a lot of time on chat fielding questions about how to refill ammo and teaching people to use c and talk about the entirety of the map instead of just the room you see.

Instead of frustration, though, in feeling a whole lot of optimism about NS.

Yea these are for the most part the worst rounds I've ever seen of NS1 or 2... but it will be fun in a few months when people know wtf they are doing so it is worth it! XD
