Ive found out from playing abit more avp2, that the so called "Queen" is acctualy called the "Emproress", so that could be your first hive and the other 2 could be queens, cause i said it before weird to have 3 queens;)
Empress is the queen mother,he rules every alien in her planet,there were 2 queens present at the time when empress was captured,you killed one in predator campaign,one in marine(it was leaving to POC,wich was infested)
And Xenomorph behaviour described in comic books doesn't count. It's not like the comic book writers put as much thought in to their purely-for-selling-books-and-making-money stories as someone who was just in love with the movies as <a href='http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/3119/' target='_blank'>the Anchorpoint Essays</a>.
