I think everyone here who has asked when or if it is coming out that they download milkshape and take a crack at it.
That way, you mongering, greedy fringered folks can understand all they have to do, and even respect them now for doing it. They don't HAVE to do this for you. This is like Doom 3. There's no release date, but IT WILL COME OUT. People don't make stuff like this and then not release it. Patience is a virtue, now use it.
Dont overreact omega. Its simply people asking for a superb model. If they didnt want people to want it, and wonder when its out, they wouldnt have made a preview thread.
I am all for defending modellers against the sort that arent appreciative, but starting trouble simply for "IS THIS COMING OUT?" is taking things too far. I hollowed the egg and made it openable. Now for no reason i cant compile it anymore. just crashes. It just compiles if I delete all objects wich des not make sense.
There is an openable AvP2 egg, to which you can attach the base tendrils without the goop. I believe there was a goopless tendril model... I can find and upload, if you want. Of course, if you're intent on making it from scratch, that's cool too.
Seeing the shots above, though, I can see that this project has come up with something even better than the AvP2 models. Good job.
And it's my understanding that browsers do not load images more than once on the same page. They load it once and copy it, to save on download time. Check it for yourself. Make a page with a whole lot of copies of a couple images; they'll all load at exactly the same speed and as if only two were being downloaded. All copies of one image will be displayed at the same time, at the same rate.

point on the images loading in subsequesnt posts is very simple. If I post it, that's fine it is my pic and my host to do as I see fit. But, if someone else posts it, using my host, it's bandwidth theft plain and simple. If I request that an additional posting from someone else who is using my host to show images, be edited. it is a simple request, not at all unreasonable, and should be honored, PERIOD. it is my image and my host. The simplest solution is to edit the offending post. The argument Greedo made is ridiculous and does not matter, it is my request. One Other MOD seemed to have no problems concerning my request on a seperate instance of this, and he understood fully the ramifications, and was really very happy to help me. If Greedo were to ask it of me I would gladly do it in a heartbeat. This was an issue for a long time on the DOD official forums until people started getting really upset about it and the moderators understood the implications of bandwidth theft within a community. Greedo made alot of suggestions, one of which was that; if I had issues with this, I was to rename the image. well then I have to go and rename the links on every instance of my posting on this site, my site, and other locations Sorry, but that is alot of work and stupid to suggest allbeit it does solve the problem, but a moderator should moderate! he in essence is asking me to do his job...
Work smarter, not harder. Do what you can do for your community member that is not being unreasonable in his requesting this. I am surprised Greedo did not ask me to write letters to every single person on this forum asking them to never clear their cache so they don't have to reload my images ever.

the non textured pic makes the egg look longer/higher because it has no textures. the lower half of the egg is covered with the green tentacle texture. the egg itself is just sitting on that hill.
You're right, One False Move, and I agree that it is not an unreasonable request, since it -is- your image. I was just stating what I assumed of the technical side of it, which doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong [or that I'm right, for that matter].
And Biohazard, don't take what I said as being the absolute truth. I could very well be wrong. Hosts could consider it to be extra bandwidth in order to pad their bills, or something. I wouldn't -really- know. I just -suspect- that's how it works.

Yeah, whatever happened to the queen...This thread started out for like 8 pages all about her and now it seems like this is all for these wierd egg things. o_o
Post has gone the way it has due to the fact that Daphisto started the model - Ollj started animating it - Tykjen made the queen soundpack I made the Egg, and Ollj started to animate the Egg as well. and don't forget the WAD edits ( Which may be scrapped due to mappers embedding their textures)
so all posts are kinda relating to one big thing in essence .
The work on the Queen is not Easy... but I as well anticiapate her release ( hopefully before a new version of NS arrives and things have to be redone)
