Oh! I just had a dream about those! I dreamed that the slaughterfish from skyrim were in Subnautica, but they looked different and these were their skeletons!
It's not deserted. The devs just don't have that much time to post in the forums. You'll see them much more often if you keep Discord running in the background (and/or on your phone, Discord has apps) and occasionally check though the messages in the #subnautica-chat channel.
If you don't want to install anything, Discord also works as a webpage. See my sig for the Subnautica Discord chatroom link.

Enjoying My Little Pony doesn't make you a Brony any more than enjoying Frozen makes you a Princess, IMHO. Obsessing over MLP, though.. yeah... then you might have a problem. xD
So I was mucking about in the Scarce Reef, using Pipes for the first time in many many many months, and used them to dive down to build my little base there. I didn't have a Seaglide or a Seamoth yet, but I wanted to do so anyway. Every time I play Subnautica I play the early game a little differently, and I like to pace myself instead of beelining for the Island to get all the 'Essentials' and just rushing it.
Went a bit off topic there, heh. Anyway, so I found myself in a bit of a shortage of Quartz, and so took a little stop by the Blood Kelp trench to dive for some, bringing an extra set of pipes with me (Really, I've actually come to like using them now - the devs did a fantastic job at updating them!)
((Spoiler'ed to save space))
As I was diving down - being startled by a Warper several times - I saw something in the sand....
(The cliffside it was on)
Is this supposed to spawn here? I thought they only showed up in the lava zones. Anything about these in the BKZ on Trello?

The devs recently decided they wanted to make the upgrades a little more accessible and put a handful of non-drillable ones in the BKZs. I've yet to find any myself.

Ah cool, that's good to know! So the pieces scattered about in the BKZ might be there to stay then.
Brought to you in 144p! ^
Jk, cheers for sharing - the Ion power cells and batteries hold much more charge than the standard - power cell contains 1000 instead of 200 and battery has 500 compared to 100 - according to the tool tips,

You mean I can use the seaglide for a whole 2 seconds now!? JK but seriously this will make extended trips less of a hassle.
Not feeling this right now. I don't like having to make separate ion batteries/cells - I'd much rather be able to upgrade the ones I already have like the lithium ion batteries were supposed to be made.

Maybe they'll be an upgrade for lithium Ion batteries.
I had an idea last night about these cubes that float stationary in the Precursor facility, and when you get close they open up like if you were to open a Rubix Cube, but all of the cubes were still kind of floating in a cube shape. Then if you got even closer it would fire a continuous laser at you. The only way past them would be to sprint past, so not too hard. Just, yea, Precursor robots should be a thing.

Maybe. The recipe as it is in experimental right now is not for an upgrade, but for a separate kind of battery/cell. Could change, of course, but it isn't right now. The ion versions don't quite make the standard versions obsolete, but with as many batteries/cells you can find and/or are prompted to make in early game, I highly value the freedom of deciding what I do with the collection I already have than having to go out to start a brand new one.
Not to be a negative nancy, but how's everyone feeling about that autosave feature mentioned on Trello? I'm really hoping it's optional or for a backup save. I tend to hate autosave when it overwrites my manual saves for how it takes away my freedom to experiment and mess around. One practical matter I can think of is when building bases I sometimes dislike the end product and quit & load to before all was built so I can give it another try. An overwriting autosave would not allow me to go back.
Most games save the autosave to something like autosave-1, 2 etc, whereas the normal save is different.
The last eight games, at minimum, that I've played either have no autosave or an overwriting autosave. So I hope your assessment is correct, but I can't help but feel a bit "ehh?" until further info.

You can just break down everything and get 100% of the Materials back.
Though yes an option to disable Autosave would be great. Like if it Autosaves as you're getting eaten by a Sea Dragon on Hardcore mode.

Oh man, I remember playing Halo Reach with a friend and the game triggered an autosave RIGHT as our warthog went shooting off a cliff... So the game would jump to the autosave as we're in midair and about to die... Like six times before it finally pushed up back to the previous autosave before it xD

I may be a fan of horror, but that's too horrific even for me.
Mind, the card notes that you still need to trigger autosave yourself by entering bases, the lifepod, or the Cyclops, but I can still imagine that to go bad in several ways.
And yes, I can deconstruct a base, but bugs (the game not forgetting modules unless the entire base is deleted and having a set deconstruction order that can lead to having to deconstruct more than you constructed), the energy use of the habitat builder, terrain deformation, and that one card somewhere about not giving the full recipe back upon deconstruction in the future aside, I've had several scenarios in which reloading was just easier than deconstructing, whether for reasons of time or vicious neighbors. It's like Rollercoaster Tycoon. Yes, you can deconstruct if it doesn't work, but reloading is just easier.
*** @tomjubert Hey Tom, these are going to be going into new Data Canisters that Charlie mentioned in an email he sent out a while ago:
"Finally, Cory and I decided on a small tweak to our recipe approach which will both keep the lifepods as a real treat, while reducing the linearity of them: we will add "data canisters", which will grant you a recipe when you pick them up. These will be concentrated around lifepods, and the best source for them, but they will also be found at tech sites, and very occasionally randomly in the world. Once we set this up, we can remove the hand-placed PDAs with recipes in the lifepods."
The intention being that we can put them as rewards for exploring the life pods, but also have them in a few other places in the world, just so they aren't only in one place. Andi is currently working on this task, so it will probably be ready to hook up at some point this coming week.

I think he meant the precursor facility.
Maybe it's just me, but everytime I hear the word "Discord" this remix keeps popping up in my head: https://youtube.com/watch?v=xPfMb50dsOk
I should point out that I'm not a Brony... but I would become one if the show had more sweet music like this one.

Murderous alien robots.
Excited for the alien power cells though. I imagine they'll be end-game items to give you like 100 times more power, but not be rechargeable.
Maybe they'll be an upgrade for lithium Ion batteries.
