If one thing that the screens of East suffer from is being too busy. A lot of visual clutter.

    Those shots are great!
I'm not sure if its just the angle, but I can't tell if there is a pipe below the resource node or not to explain where the resources are coming from.

If there is then that's great, it'd be sweet if it there is steam/smoking coming out of it to give it a more immersive effect, if there is not you should try it out if possible.

Nope. I think I was waiting on an idea that cool. Thanks, Heroman. I'll definitely do something along those lines.

Something along the lines of how it is done in Alien expansion in Tram, tis a shame that the map is pretty unstable right now.

    <img src="http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd440/Heroman117/tram_ae.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

With the amount of space you've got available to you below the resource points, i'm sure you can come up with something really creative.

Looking good! The part under the resource node shouldn't be an empty void, but probably have pipes and stuff running underneath it.

I don't know about that. It seems like he put quite a bit of time and effort into it.

It's really miraculous honestly...the skill and determination it took to deliever such a thing.

    ------------------------------

As far as West Skylights go; keep it up. It's looking great fmpone!

Lets just say that if I had mapping skills one tenth as good as Asraniel's ascii skills, I would be the center of a bidding war between Epic Games, Valve, and Dice for lead level designer.

The architecture in West Skylights look so curvy and sophisticated. I love it!

If only the walls are less cluttered.

I'm confused as to why you're using a texture which has black squares on it. It really needs to be a translucent texture with something behind it if you're going to use that style. On a 2011 game it just looks awful.

The map has come a long way, and I think tomorrow I will post updated shots to give you guys an idea of where the map stands now. Until then.

Hmm... I suppose NS2 has lighting that is controlled by power nodes. That does look a tad too dark for full lighting.

The floor to ceiling suspenders on the side of the stairs do look rather strange.

Yea when I saw the first screenshot(s) I was expecting it to be quite bright, much like ns_veil was, but as time marches on it seems to be darkening a bit. Not saying you should brighten the map up though, I'm assuming once the main-menu is reworked we might see some better control over global gamma\brightness-settings for the folks who aren't as keen on NS2's inherent darkness.

I could release a partially detailed version, but at the rate I'm detailing I think I'm just going to finish the thing then release.

It's not as dark in game as it looks in screenshots, because I like to take dramatic myspace angles for my screenshots. Then again, I just don't think it looks very dark at all either way.

I would trim the grate at the green line and remove it on the red side. It looks like you were being lazy and just ran the pipes through the grate which definitely is below the visual standard of the rest of the map.

Love the new topo artwork (looks great and reminds me of an expanded version of the originals!), although I wasn't sure what rooms were what in the later pictures. Do you have a rough percentage of how far done you're with the map? Looking forward to playing it.

You're forgetting polish, optimisation, re-working areas due to gameplay, and misc other ###### that always needs to get done.
