*screw* the ambient lighting, yay for ingame particles!

    <img src="http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4125/steamvent.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

For now use the *Cinematic* entity, the *Particles* entity crashes the game as soon as it's triggered, and if "start on" = true the game crashes when the map loads. It's no longer skipped when loading the level so keep that in mind.

nice update team, keep up the good work!

Every patch seems to get worse for me. Still have major graphics problems and now sound glitches.

Can't wait for the Heavy Armor preview now. I bet it's gonna look slick with a coat of black paint.

I'm pretty sure we could already use in-game cinematics....

I mean, I could. I made a fire and saved it as a cinematic then added it into my map and it worked just fine.

Or maybe this update changed something?

Good update. I'm a little iffy on the jetpack design and would have liked to hear some more about it, but it could be a lot worse.

So the protolab is just an extension of the AA now? and no turret factories. I feel like we're losing too many important buildings and bases might become too simple.

I just hope Gorges can still web (or something similar) to deter and help defend against Jetpack attacks.
Also, I hope the Fade's (new?) Blink ability still allows for mid-air kills - nothing like a Fade Blinking to intercept a Jetpacker mid-air for a kill.

The heavy is actually an exoskeleton suit now ala aliens. With potential to wield 2 miniguns.

Anyone know if you can join another players game? I've tried, but it just comes up black after going through the first loading stage. Right now I'm waiting for another person to make one, curious if they stay on long enough - if it will work.
*Get the loop sound bug :(*

2 errors. So far is yet another sound bug. Once I fire, the sound loops forever.

Other is the build bot in the cinematric intro/menu screen is not appearing yet the moving spotlight for him is still moving properly.

Can't wait until I get to fly around in NS2 :D<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Same here on both.

Nice. The engine test on Steam is finally comparable in performance to the standalone release. Keep it up!

that blue cart, seems to be a welding plant actually. it would be cool if these had a aoe buff to welding say a 10% speed increase within 5 yards.

Sound loop bug confirmed. How about making a psycho-mode out of it? A some kind of combat-madness for the marines who have been in battle for too long? :)

yeah got the missing build bot. But performance wasn't listed as one of the update changes, so I'm not too worked up about that.

Lighting entity seems interesting, more lighting options are always welcome. I'm guessing it isn't quite a light as such and more like a directional shader, which I know is what a light is but this reminds me of a normal mapping rig.

Should be good if we have a room with like a big window on one side, you could make the side opposite the window take part of the sun colour while the other directions get the sky colour, essentially simulating what source uses about 10 minutes of compile time to calculate.

Looks like dynamic lighting won't limit what you can do, impressive.

I don't like the ass protection on the jetpack actually. It's really ugly and unfit.

I know it's probably for realism (aerodynamism) and stuff but gaming-wise it removes from the sci-fi imagination.

I did a quick photoshop and I really think they should remove it as it looks way better without it.

+1 for arse flaps on the jetpack.

I honestly quite like the whole design, it looks bulky and solid while at the same time not looking heavy. It's small but you get the impression it has plenty of power in it, and that it would stand up to a few whacks.

Most of all it looks somehow more centred than most, obviously the design would make you go somersaulting if you used it but it looks much better than the common habit of just strapping a rocket engine to someone's back and mounting it miles off the centre of gravity.

Anyone against the butt flap is anti-ass! I, for one, support the hard, working-class asses. They are the tailbone of our economy!
