    Just right-click and use WASD.
    Essentially the same thing.

Keep in mind pre-alpha for map editor, not intended for making working maps but to test it and get bugs so max and co. can fix.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

im guressing i need to report them then since i ran into them

Prefabs for light models with correctly positioned light entities would be a great addition. Obviously it will require adding a prefab system though :)

Also, please give us an invert mouse option and a way to toggle movement rather than having to hold RMB

How can you people be so happy with this? It crashes more often than Windows 95 for crying out loud! I know it's a pre-alpha release, but what's it good for when I can't even do the things the dude does in the 1st tutorial?

I finally got the editor up and running but it doesn't work the way the dude uses it in the tutorial. Drawing a rectagle to a side doesn't split it like in the tutorial.

Just had the first blue screen of death with Vista Home Premium OEM x64 and I've had this for little over 2 years and 2 months. I'm not a happy camper as they say.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Try using the pen tool instead

It's pre-alpha. These tools at this stage usually never get released at this early stage of development. Just be patient and submit bug reports and eventually it will be fixed.

I have a crash any time I place a spotlight and go into textured lit mode. Anyone else have this problem? I'd like to help max track it down if we can.

can't say it has crashed once for me :)

its soo easy to use! you just draw a rough layout and detail it later

i love being able to do a fullscreen 3d view for 90% of the editing

Oooh yea!!.. Have had a bad weekend and this really brought the light back for me :D

Like so many others, Im gona try and throw this baby around abit and see what I can get out of it and what kinds of errors I can find for you :P
But so far, I've been playing around with it for an hour or so, and I got a pretty good feel for how it works rather quickly.. Still have allot to get use to, but I must say: Great job so far guys :D

<!--quoteo(post=1739335:date=Nov 24 2009, 02:06 AM:name=Dee)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dee @ Nov 24 2009, 02:06 AM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=1739335"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Didn't help that Sparky somehow tossed my perspective view some 2 miles above my map and I had to scroll scroll scroll scroll my way back to it. :)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The same thing happened to me once.. Its now where the model is placed 2 miles away, its where the view is set 2 miles away.. So pressing "Z" centers you alright on the object.. While you are 2 miles away :P
So if you want to get back to it, you have to scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll... Aaaand Scroll X3 .. But so far, its only happned once..

I think someone said there was a bug that caused that with certain Nvidia cards

Yup it's confirmed there's an issue with nVidia 7900 series.

Gah, you release this while my computer is dead.

I take it there's no way I'll get this working on a crappy Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop? :p

I feel like the move tool is quirky. I'll try and move something in one axis and it'll randomly select something else behind it and mess it up.

Perhaps you could make the area that performs the move a bit more generous, instead of requiring exact precision. Right now I just end up selecting other stuff and it bothers me.

Also, lights should highlight when you select them. Right now there's no way to tell whether it is selected or not.

I think we need to start an official bug and trouble shooting thread related to actual use of the editor. IE not a general "how can I get this running" thread, but "I'm trying to do X, the editor is doing Y, am I doing it wrong or is there possibly a bug?"

    *edit*

You know what would be monumentally useful here? The ability for the editor to write crashdumps. With the correct coding, as I understand it, you can frequently get dumps to highlight the exact line on which something crashes.

Lets add on also a thread about what *not* to do lol. I have much more appreciation for what a ###### it can be to texture things now :P Trying to build and texture very long objects in a single go isn't the smartest thing to do :P

I was just thinking, is there or should there be somekind of measure tool in Spark (for checking distances between point A and point B). This would be good update becouse it could help with balancing distance with similar points.

Select something with the scale tool and it will give you its size.

Theres a distance counter at the bottom right as well as a degree counter (depending on what tool you use).

I'm browsing fan maps screenshots and they looks very good! Congratulation to all! I've tried to install the Editor on Crossover Games but it doesn't work yet.

PS: where i can change topic option in my profile? I want to see forum in "flat" mode and not "threaded" mode. When i delete the the cookie i see it in flat mode but when i log in again topic view return in "threaded" mode. Thanks!

    I set myself a bookmark to <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showforum=91&mode=flat" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...1&mode=flat</a>

So whenever I go through that it fixes itself.
