    What about <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instar" target="_blank">instars</a>? It's both a real biological term for a life-cycle stage of an insect, and makes you think of things that glow.

    Gotta go with Tycho on this one, I don't imagine these things as any kind of star, scientific meanings aside

    From a Marine perspective I'd feel like calling then "pixies" would give them some sort of comfort from the daily fear of being chewed or sliced up by the typical kharaa.

    "Oh crap it's...wait...it's just some pixies. We're close to the hive guys!"

    Nice find with that word I also find myself agreeing with the graph that you posted earlier.

    Instars would also be a good name for glowies/nymphs because they float around in open space (air) similar to how stars do.

    I'm not sure what a good name would be, but the current aliens (with the exception of the onos) all have a name which is a single syllable verb which describes what they do or what they look like. These things (the nymphs) are eggs, and they float and they glow, maybe we could think of a cool sounding verb for one of those things?

    Another alternative to instars would be <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krill" target="_blank">krill</a>. When I see those things in pictures they definitely look like some sort of plankton.

    I am simply going to vote against anything with excessive "y"s.

    Nymph is fine as it is a real word. Embyr is simply excessive "y"s.

    Actually, more than just 2 cents.

    Nymphs is a good name for them as it would be technically kinda accurate. However as many have pointed out, marines would likely call them somethign else, and there glowies, worms, whatever fits <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    Because Glowies is a simply modification on an every day word (glow).

    Nymphs is a very rarely used word unless you are a biologist, a classicist, or a geek, and 2 out of the 3 aren't thinking of the right thing any way.

    And Embryrs has excessive "y"s.
