Yup, nymphs is the current stand in name for Glowies. I hate the name, but glowies isn't much better. Another 10 bucks to anyone who can come up with a good enough name to get me to convince Charlie to drop "nymphs".

Glarvae? Since technically they are glowing larvae but you wouldn't be ripping off Starcraft entirely. Khlarvae (klar-vay) would work too since they're kharra larvae.
Truth. I'll take that money in unmarked American $1 bills. Please leave the briefcase in locker #204 at the Union Hall train station, and make sure you're <b>NOT</b> followed this time!

Maybe instead of getting 10 bucks, we can all donate 10 bucks to convince Flayra to drop Nymphs..it sounds really silly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Call them tadpoles or larvae. Why over complicate? Marines are bound to name them after something familiar or defining. That's why I've heard some people call Skulks "dogs." Most of the current NS names are variations of defining words. If you use something familiar, new players will know what you're talking about too. You can always change it for version 1.0 just like you did for NS.

Embyrs is a play on the word ember. They float around the hive like embers thrown up from a fire. It's a word that could easily be attached to the visual definition. Even without seeing them in action, I can imagine what they would look like flying/floating/glowing around the hive.
Nymphs is a pretty strange thing to call them because it seems to have no relation to what they are.
Embyrs sounds too much like embryos for comfort... Nymphs is possibly what a biology scientist might think of when he sees them.
Not that I can suggest anything better... Only thing that comes to mind is fireflies, and even then it doesn't fit with their jellyness. Flying jellies...

Nymph is a standard term in biology for the intermediate stage in an insect's life cycle that is essentially a young adult.

Nymphs is fine (albeit 'girly' sounding), Fireflies works by me, but embyrs bothers me for some reason. Looking at it annoys me...I guess it's the y O_o

Many of the names suggested sound too self-indulgent. Perhaps I went too close to bland and ordinary, though. "Embyrs" is close to being okay, as pointed out, but I keep pronouncing it "embeers" in my head. "Y" seems to be a common letter used to spice up fantasy novel names, too. Perhaps "Emburs" would be more fitting for the NS universe, considering "Lerk" is lurk with an 'e'. *shrug*
"Firefly" gives me warm feelings (i wonder why <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />). Oddly, it feels a bit long when considering the other class names. (even though it doesn't have that many letters)
I'll probably end up calling them something stupid like "floaters".
Who's naming these in the NS universe? Scientists or marines? I wonder what their scientific names are.

It should be something a marine would actually use. Identifiable, simple and have a practical name. Like all alien lifeforms (think fade, skulk, lerk, gorge).
