Yes, that is the largest picture we have for now, but it's better than nothing, right? The floating DVD is obviously meant to show that their system is in fact about the size of three DVD cases, as announced earlier. Along with this picture, we also have new details on the console and its online network.

Nintendo is billing the Revolution as about two to three times more powerful than the GameCube, which may seem like a bit less than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but Perrin Kaplan wisely notes "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' it's about what you do with it." Nintendo Revolution games will use the standard DVD format and will be fully backward compatible with GameCube games. The Revolution will also play normal movie DVDs. Nintendo will offer a FREE online matchmaking system. Also, using their online service, Revolution owners will be able to download (likely for a fee, but that has not been announced) many Nintendo games, both new and classic.

Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference takes place later this morning, and you can bet GamesAreFun will be sure to give all the details as soon as we get them.

i liked the idea of a gamecube, it was different to all other consoles. all these new generation consoles all look the same, cuboid shaped with grey and black parts.

I'm gonna have to say, the upcoming generation has the second worst console designs next to the current one. All of them look like every single freaking generic electronic product. And jeeze, even Nintendo falls victim to the virtical stand hype.

Thank god consoles are moving away from the grown-up toy phone look.

    Latest Rumor:

<b>Nintendo will offer downloadable games for the Revolution, from systems at least as far back as the SNES, <i>and quite possibly, for free</i></b>.

This is by far the best looking console out of the three and the small size is definitely nice. It's just shame I won't be buying one.

Some Japanese Nintendo guy just pulled the Revolution out of his pocket. It's really really small. They have red, yellow, white, and silver colors too. Gamecube and Revolution discs play through the same drive. It will play DVDs, with a small attachement.

    512MB Flash Memory
    Optional SD Memory Cards
DRM Software to "Share" Intellectual Property
    Built-in WiFi
Wireless Controllers, supposed to be very unique in a way they haven't told us.

1 or 2 Wifi games ready for launch, including SMASH BROTHERS. All of their key franchises have Wifi games in development.

EDIT1: Mario + Zelda +Metroid in development. FF:CC Wifi for Revolution (controllers with a screen perhaps?). WILL PLAY NINTENDO GAMES FROM THE LAST 20 YEARS INCLUDING NES, SNES, and N64. They will have to be purchased. Is capable of playing every single Nintendo console game every made.

EDIT2: Well, I'm extremely impressed and slightly disappointed. On the one hand, Smash Brothers Online at launch, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and FF:CC for Revolution, as well as the fact that you'll be able to purchase Nintendo games for the Revolution, online, going all the way back to the first Mario game. However, there was only one short clip of Metroid that was probably for the Revolution. No other gameplay shots.

I'll definately be picking this console up. Even though the PS3 and Xbox360 look very cool, they don't have any games that I'm looking forward to, whereas the Revolution has 4, as well as an entire back catalog for me to choose from. I'll probably also pick up the PS3, because I've already got many PS2 and PS1 games, and SquareEnix is probably sticking with Sony.

Merk's rumor on downloadable content is confirmed, though I'm going to doubt it'll be free. In any case, one hell of an argument for me since I'd be able to play some of my all-time favorite games whenever I want that way.

Here's a link to the Nintendo presentation that I was watching (it also has the Microsoft and Sony ones too):
    <a href='http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html' target='_blank'>http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html</a>

Watch as <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shigeru_Miyamoto' target='_blank'>Shigeru Miyamoto</a>'s dog humps <a href='http://www.tinawood.net/' target='_blank'>G4's Tina Wood</a>'s dog. It's got an amazing Zelda trailer at the end (Link = Werewolf).

Another tidbit I forgot to mention: Nintendo wifi service will be completely free (at least for the DS, although probably for the Revolution as well).

Like I said above, you have to purchase the games from the back catalog. Let's hope that Nintendo has some sense and makes them cheap.

    What would you rather have?

    Smash Brothers for the Revolution
    or
Smash Brothers for the Revolution with Online Play?

I know which one I choose.
