At least it's the best looking of the three...(I'd like to take this time to point out that vertical stands **** me off - it was retarded when the PS2 did it, it's not any cooler now). The backward compatibility with gamecube games interests me fairly much - since then I can get around to playing RE0-4 and some metroid or something. And...I'm not sure how 'funky' the controller's going to be if it needs to be backward compatible with the GameCube.

Wow. Link turns into a werewolf and has a crazy impy kid ride him while he does Star Fox-esque quick attacks through strange, possibly digital, beasts.
On the sexy-o-meter, this makes an iPod look like someone's grandma. Luckily it will be too expensive or useless for me to break my "don't buy any consoles, stupid" rule.

Its pretty nice, being by far the smallest and probably the cheapest of the new systems coming out nintendo has probably made a really nice move. Not to mention only 3x the power means it can come out earlier and at MUCH less cost.

I think that this is a smart move for Nintendo, people will like having this sitting next to their TV much more then the old gamecube. Vertical is also good because as I just said, you can put it next to your TV and take up less space.
The one thing about this that I am super excited about is the front loading slot.
I hated how the PS2 used a slot, because if it was stood up vertically it just felt so flimsy and it felt like the cd was going to fall out...
PS3 may be backward compatabile for two generations, but the revo is backwards compatible for GC games, and then every game before that will also be playable. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Is anyone else not diggin' this whole "Ugly looking Werewolf" spiel in Twilight Princess? I wouldn't mind so much if it didn't look like crap. And the cubic blackness coming from the sky is too sci-fi looking for me.
<edit>Everyone other than Link and Zelda look like they have down syndrome.</edit>
They could have 0 games available at launch and I'd still buy it by virtue of the fact that I can now buy every NES, SNES, and N64 game I ever wanted to buy but missed out on (Megaman X-X3, Majora's Mask, Final Fantasy III, Super Mario RPG, Castlevania 3, Contra: Alien Wars, the original Street Fighter Alpha)
This, of course, assumes they'll sell for cheap; if it costs more than $5 a game then that's pretty crappy, unless you're talking about rediculously high-profile N64 games, which makes it a minor amount less crappy.
And there's the wireless controllers and Gamecube backwards compatability to keep me sold even if the buying every Nintendo game evar doesn't work out like I wanted it to. And then the new games will come out.
So now do I want to buy an X360, PS3, or both...? All X360 has going for it right now is Team Ninja as I see it, so whatever Capcom, Sega, and Konami end up making more games for.
Whatever, I just hope they tell a little more about the system... And show some in-game footage.

Yes, I know many people really thought it was great, but I thought it was really a stupid design. It's very design made portions of it unusable when other areas were being utilized. PlayStation's controllers (and ultimately, the Gamecube's) allowed for the fast switching between the D-Pad and the joystick(s), something the N64 controller could not do. And yes, there were several times where I needed to switch between the two. Things were also too widely spaced apart: so many buttons were hard to reach on that thing. I hated it.

I like the N64 controller, it had sufficient buttons, it was comfortable, and it was the first system to have an analog stick (except for some of the consoles in the 70-80s).
The Wavebird is probably the most comfortable controller that I've ever held (FYI, I have small hands). It has the main analog stick directly under my thumb (something Sony did not do, for some reason), yet the D-Pad and C-Stick are easily accessible. The only problem that I have with it is the Z-button. I end up having to use my right index finger for both the Z- and R-buttons. It would be better if it was placed so that my middle finger could reach it (and maybe the middle finger on my left hand would have a second trigger, too). Still, most games do a good enough job with button assignment that I rarely have problems with the placement.

Then they threw two sticks in at the bottom and made the controller design they stuck with for the later part of the PSX's life, and the duration of PS2's, and warped it around a little to get the PS3's.
I personally like the way the Dreamcast, and ultimately X-Box, laid out the stick at the top as opposed to bottom, and has triggers as opposed to shoulder buttons, I like how it feels. Gamecube's d-pad does feel slightly tiny, but all the games I play have only utilized it as an alternative to the stick (which feels much better than PS2's), or as 4 buttons (a la Metroid Prime).
Only other probelm I have with the Gamecube controller is that the Z button feels weird. So small compared to the L/R buttons...

Of course, the PSX controller was originally the SNES controller with two extra shoulder buttons and handles to grip with.
