    we were mearly making comments and sugestions on the pack which is asked for on the first post , I dont really see how is with people saying a dissagrement is a fight which would get the post locked. I'll be the first to say the forum mods can over moderate at times but I doubt they would lock the thread for that.

    whats that acid rocket meant to be <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> i looks like the playstation control symbols to me , wasnt it meant to be birdo's eggs or something.

    cant wait to see that boo lerk in action, would be pretty cool if there was someway to give it an animation of it covering its eyes as it cloaks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    i can see you never played super mario world. the fade will be a magikoopa since dorian is modelling it, and those shapes are what magikoopa shoots

    Any more news on animating the zapper or the superscope? Or how about using that guys wrench for the knife?
  • DreamScarDreamScar Join Date: 2004-04-17 Member: 27982Members
    the wrench is nice, but I think the controller in it is kinda wierd and unnessicary. Would look better without it.
  • Mr_GargMr_Garg Join Date: 2004-05-07 Member: 28532Members
    Agreed DreamScar. What would you use as gorge that uses the same Spinning Triangle Square Circle Thingy the MagiKoopa uses?
    No offense but I still think Chain Chomp doesn't fit the bill as a gorge...

    bullet bill doesnt have arms, did you mean the launcher having arms? like this one.

    i tried to make it look like this one

    [edit]
    does this look ok, o_O took off the controller and made the chrome into silver instead of gold.

    uhh like this for the bullet bill guy. all i did was make the bullet tip thinner, and added the square base. Im not sure what you guys mean about the smoothing groups, doesnt milkshape automatically smooth the model? left the thing in many groups considering i dont know if it helps people to mesh it.

    [edit]
    heres a better picture of what kind of bullet im modeling from =D

    for mario concepts, <a href='http://www.mariomonsters.com/main.html' target='_blank'>http://www.mariomonsters.com/main.html</a>
    they have some fanart of the mario creatures. heh i was watching smb3 cartoon yesterday, and koopa says to his daughter .... "America is in the real world". Lol does that means that their saying that the mushroom kingdom is just make belief to kids who watched the show.

    Yeah BB and AR use the same model (on my install at least). Here's the pic to prove it:

    Your whole model is smoothed. Smoothing groups smooth certain bits of it, such as curves, but not the whole model in one group. That leads to generally crappy looking stuff. I don't use Milkshape, so I dunno how to do smoothing in it, but in Max you just select faces for an SG and assign it a group.

    Edit: sorry for doublepost

    as you can see on that pic of yers, on the under-water launcher drops a bullet bill, on his side there is something white, its an arm, kinda.. against the side of the bullet.

    If you check any pic of a bullet bill you see those arms.

    And on the old SMB1, its not his teeth, I thought that before I found out what it really was, his arms <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    and the SMB64 doesnt seem to have those arms, but what I know the original creators of SMB didnt make SMB64, thats why I dont see it as an original SMB game.

    Edit: as ye can see, he has arms <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You may be, but all that is is just the bullet bill that's about 4x larger... It's nto actually any different other then size.

    sry for double post but heres the ms3d file of that bullet model. can someone mesh this thing plz.

    [edit]
    replaced file with model that has better grouping names.
  • DreamScarDreamScar Join Date: 2004-04-17 Member: 27982Members
    export it to .obj format and I'll give it a shot.
  • zwingzwing Join Date: 2004-04-21 Member: 28071Members
    here ya go, had to rename my groups and used lithunwrap to convert the model.

    ok, here's what my first UV map looks like. I have no idea how to export it in maya, I just clicked UV snapshot, and it made this file from my UV map (in BMP format, however).

    there should be some way to export it back as obj, then it could be checked to make sure the maps are aligned properly in milkshape
  • zwingzwing Join Date: 2004-04-21 Member: 28071Members
    couldnt you just use lithunwrap and "save as" the model as a *.ms3d file? thats how i made converted that ms3d file into an obj file.

    <b>Who had the idea to make this pack?</b>

    this pack is very fast growing up. W00t.

    Nice model Delarosa <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> Not sure if the pack needs it, but nice nonetheless.

    Zwing - about your model. I opened it up in Max, and I can see a few problems. First, the barrel of the launcher.
    <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/mario/bbillerror.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    This is what people will see from behind <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Not the prettiest. For a cylinder this size, use at least an 8 sided one. I did a quick barrel, just to show you what I mean.
    <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/mario/bbillhelp.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    The Red faces are smoothing group 1, the blue are group 2, and the grey aren't done. As Burncycle (i think it was him) posted somewhere or other, select like faces for a smoothing group. Look at the reds for an example. They're like faces. And this is a 12 sided cylinder, to make it look good. Interior done too. 194 polies. If you want to use it, I can spruce it up (a few face errors from my jerky mouse are on the inside, but you cant see them in the render) for ya.

    hey quick request can you guys post wireframes too? when you guys render?
  • DemiguiseDemiguise Marks Servers Reg Join Date: 2004-01-19 Member: 25462Members
    i also want to skin mesh it but there is that problem that the barrel of the gun looks a bit weird and wouldnt look very nice.
  • CoolCookieCooksCoolCookieCooks Pretty Girl Join Date: 2003-05-18 Member: 16446Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor, Constellation
    it has a skinmesh overlay on it chrono <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    zwing, if you do save as n lithunwrap, the second you save it all the smoothing groups mess up..
  • DemiguiseDemiguise Marks Servers Reg Join Date: 2004-01-19 Member: 25462Members
    i thought that was if you optimzed it first then saved
  • CoolCookieCooksCoolCookieCooks Pretty Girl Join Date: 2003-05-18 Member: 16446Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor, Constellation
    doesnt really make a difference, saving in lithunwrap = bad

    exporting uv maps in lithunwrap = win
