*Artemis looks for the nearest and lowest healing alcove and climbs up into it.* "Argh, I must rest my weary bones." *I lie in the healing pool rolling in it, covering my whole body in the cool, refreashing waters.* "We shall feast tonight!" *I feel the food from the hive passed through the bacterium absorbed directly into my body.* "We fought a great battle today, our foes were mighty indeed. But who were they?
they were anouther clik, much like yours. they were competing for honor and glory against thier fellow comrads. of those who have not been yet assigned to an outpost, they were amoung the greatest. know you have earned great respect from your bretheren for your victory. even now a place is being prepared for you.
you find an appropriately low alcove, which water had accumulated in. ignoring the dryer leges above and the perches on the cealing you climb in and rest. time passes.
remeber to take your stats if you havent already. i think everyones back? so lets go on.
the night wanes and the new day comes. your rest has healed you. you sense many fewer bretheren, but the same places lay before you. training grounds to the north, open fields to the west, an encampment of the draug to the east, or deeper into the caverns.
*Artemis is up early but does not disturb the others until they have all woken.* "I will use my time to train. If we are to fight in real combat then I am to be perpared." *Stand up out of the healing pool and leaps out to the ground below.* "They remind me of the hot springs back on my homeworld." *Shakes of any water on my skin then walks of to the training grounds in the west.* "Maybe we can finish our scrim Mintika."
*peers out of her healing alcove, eyes shining with vigour and intensity* "Ahh...nothing like a good rest and a new day." *leaps gracefully to the ground, and walks outside towards the training grounds* "If you insist, my friend - let us begin then."
[skulks pass, going in all directions. you catch wisps of thought, none of wich are whole or make much sense...ender...<fear>....war.... first spawn... death. it gradually becomes obvious that no one wants to fight you bacause of the victory your clik achieved yesterday.]
you head out to the west. there is scattered spoor of the draug, and even fewer skulk scents. you realize that this is an exellent place to improve your tracking skills, though there isnt quite enough cover for an effective ambush.
game mechanics:dex., str. and con. in combat
str. and con. both affect damage oppositely. one point in str. nullifies one point in con. and vice virsa. the formula i'm using right now is:dmg. + k(str. -con.) = final damage, where k is 10. so for every 1 point you have in str. your garenteed to do 10%(of the total target life) more damage then if you didnt have it. and for every 1 point of con you take 10% less (of your total life) damage then if you didnt have it.
dex is used in your opposition roll. both attacker and defender roll a d20. both dexes are added to thier roll. if the attacker's total is higher, the attack hits. moreover, for every point the attacker's total is over the defenders total max damage delt is raised 10%, up to 100%. so, if an attacker gets a 15 and a defender 14 then damage is between 1-10%, before str. and con. are considered. (if the defender rolled a 5 then damage would be 1-100%)
net effect: if your con is 10+ points higher then your enimies str. you wont take damage from being hit. if your dex is 20+ points higher then your opponents you'll always hit and never be hit. if your str. is 10+ points higher then your enimies con. you will kill on every sucessful attack.
upgrades like cloak become available when you have sufficiant stats above those required for your evolution. so if your evolution requires a minumum of, say, 10 str. and an upgrade that requires 2 str. you need 12 str. total. most but not all evolutions require more then one stat. no evolutions currently require more then 5 stat points, or less then 2. the list of upgrades will become available after you leave this planet, and as your int becomes sufficient.
it becomes obvious that if you want to hunt your going to have to track it down. you sense most of your clik to the west, and you know there are things to hunt there.
*Artemis leaves the saftey of the caves and heads out into the plains in the west.* "Well the hunt is on. Minitka I have bigger fish to fry." *Sniffs the air for any sign of prey.* "Ah, the trill of the hunt. It brings back memories." *Hugging the ground I start to crawl on my belly, stopping occasional to sniff and look around.* "Where I was born there was little or no cover on the ice plains. Very much like here."
*Crawls up behind Demiguise* "Wait for it my friend. Have patiance and you will learn the way of the true hunter." *I tense the muscle in my body like a coiled spring, ready to attack at any given moment.*
"West, eh? Very well, we must postpone our little duel yet again, Artemis." *abruptly reverses direction and bounds off to the western plains*
the draug is incredibly outmatched by the group of you. you realize that nothing on the western plains is going to offer much challenge combatively, especially hunting as a group. but it is fun to hunt it down, to stalk with the other members of your clik. the draug lies dead at your feet.
*Artemis sniffs around the dead druag disdainfully.* "There is no honour in attacking foes this weak. How about a bet?" *I set of crawling north west, hugging low to the ground and keeping a look out for any sign of movement.* "The first to find and kill a draug gets the highest healing chamber tonight. What do you say?"
"im in...." *Sniffs As much as he can around the Dead body and then around in the Air to catch the sent of a Draug or whatever.*
"Mmm, a bet like this is...irresistible. You're on, Artemis!" *begins to track towards the south-west, watching and sniffing warily for any prey*
J D W, if you dont post soon i'm going to make your char inactive.
you all spend the day hunting to the west. occasionally one of you will catch the scent of your bretheren, but they give you wide birth and respect your hunt. by the afternoon you seem to have the entire plain to yourself. time passes, and you return to the caves with your catch. the leges are fairly bare, and you sense very few others still on the planet. your little competition finds J D W and Epoch tied.
J D W and epoch, +1 stat.
"your place is prepared and the others have gone before you. enjoy your catch, rest as you would. when you are prepaired you will be sent to your place." "if you would, i have a task before you choose to go. the virulent draug have turned against our unity. soon they will assault this hive and the peace of the loremasters. as the first amoung us We ask you to destroy thier nest and thier young. moreover, We ask you to bring thier hives queen to Us that the loremasters might strip her mind in the safty of our enclave."
"JD well done. We hunted well, but I fear we are too great for this place. Many songs will be sung about our tales here. Well JD I'll wrestle you for top bunk." *I walk back to the cave and wait for JD.*
"By your command, we shall carry out this task...though in the morning, I hope." *curls up in a healing alcove and prepares herself for a relaxing sleep*
