Very moving parts to it. The sheer silence in the theatre as these lines where spoken just sucked you right in.
In the last 30 mins some people started to clap every time to screen went blank or there was a long period of silence. Then there would be another 5 mins and they'd clap again once they got impatient, etc. I went to a show that ended at 1:00am so for me the ending felt VERY drawn out. It was conclusive though, i just felt like the scene with Sam going home to his wife could have been cut. The slow-mo capture of a lot of the end scenes annoyed me as well. We seemed to be staring at Sam and Frodo for a good 30 seconds each, or at least it felt like it.
The perfect ending for me would've been : Aragon becoming king> Boat leaving with Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, etc > the other hobbits watching the boat go off into the distance> fade to black.
4.5/5 just because i was getting grumpy at the end.
Boss let everyone have the day off to go see it.

You're a man of taste, have a cool point.
I'm waiting for Maddox to p!ss all over it.
I gave it 9.5/10.

Best.Trilogy.Ever.
Versus Matrix? Stomps it.
you know what REALLY sucks? Reservoir Dogs.
IRL, though, yep, I think this LOTR was the best ever...
I went with a bunch of really loud, drunken friends. Especially one -- he was being that guy you HATE at a movie... he shut up as he sobered up and it got more intense though.
three cheers for elephant surfing!!
I saw soo many ways it could be parodied already... (don't read this next (purposefully vague) sentence if you're scared of spoilers) -- for instance, a parallel between a certain scene near the end and a certain scene near the end of a movie featuring a certain governor of a large US state...
There were also soo many images that would make perfect desktop computer backgrounds... it was really visually impressive... I only wish I got to see more of a certain translucent army.
anyway, going to the midnight release is a real slice of geek culture, and I like it. You get to see the full range of geeks: young and old, cute and ugly, wacky and conservative... it definitely proves all the stereotypes wrong... I wish I owned a cloak

Yeah, it's not like Lotr was some incredible master piece. 'Well done' movie with huge budget. Nothing more, nothing less. It has it's weak spots and it's really good at some times too.
Though I'm looking forward to seeing Rotk.
Faramir: I'm not dead!
Guard: What?
Denethor: Nothing. Here's your ninepence.
Guard: 'Ere, he says he's not dead.
Denethor: Yes he is.
Faramir: I'm not!
Peregrin Tuk: He isn't.
Denethor: Well, he will be soon, he's very badly wounded.
Faramir: I'm getting better!
Denethor: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
Faramir: I don't want to go on the cart!
Guard: We can't burn him.
Faramir: I feel fine!
Denethor: Oh, do me a favor.
Guard: I can't!
Denethor: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won't be long.
Guard: I promised I'd be with the rohirrim. They've lost 3000 today.
Of course, at this point Jackson decided that following the book was a better idea.

I don't get it... did they parody monty python in RotK? I haven't seen it yet.
and for all those who go ripping on LotR for not being exactly like the books...see the Extended Edition releases. Those are what Jackson really wanted to put in theaters but didn't have the company approval to do.
And for all the nubcaeks posting about how LotR sucks:

This is asking your thoughts on the latest movie, not if you like the first two or not.
one film to rule them all indeed.
SPOILER:
The only really noticeable thing that was different was with the dead army that Aragorn summoned actually fought in the battle of Minas Tirith. In the book they only drove away the enemy on the ships so Aragorn could use them. Aragorn actually mustered up people to fight in the book on his way to the battle.
END SPOILER.
Even though the ending was accurate, it just seemed to drag on a little bit. It think they could have done it a little better. Other than those two things, the movie was great.
EDIT: Spelling

Spoiler as well:
yeah, that and the shire not being taken over by dudes. i was a little disappointed by that. however, by then, i didn't care much. my **** hurt enough, and i was glad to get up and leave lol.
end spoiler
other than that, i thought it was excellent. i'm definely going to own the extended version of all three of these films, and they're easily this generation's Star Wars (no, the matrix is not, cuz the last two sucked). if you haven't seen rotk, go, do so as soon as you can. i even skipped school today to see it, so no excuses.
and some one shoot mrpink
