    Cork2, do you see a sign at the top of this thread saying "Ask questions in here"? No. Do you know why there isn't a sign saying "Ask questions in here"? This is a thread for playtesters to post their stories and for people to comment on them. This question was probably worthy of it's own thread as I am sure that there are other people wondering that same question and not thinking to look in this thread.

    Real life has been taking away from my PT time as of recent (curse that silly girl and the stupid school!&#33<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->. Hopefully, this weekend will present more opportunities for playtesting, and more times when I can sit down and type away. It's not looking good . . . as I'm scheduled to go "shopping" on sunday . . . .
    Wish me luck, I will try to get back here as much as possible and play as much as possible.

    The aliens were having a rough time of it on NS_Nancy.  The marines had relocated to the hive room in Mother from the start, and from this well-fortified location were expanding all over the map.  They'd set up numerous sub-bases around resource nodes with multiple turrets and a phase gate at each, allowing them to jump quickly around the map for both attack and defense purposes.

    We got two hives, then lost the second one to a siege turret.  One prolonged battle right outside the hive was two fades (tommyd and Humbaba) and I (a Gorge) against two or three HMG (HA?) marines and one or two turrets.  I had level-3 adrenaline, and was healing as fast as I had the energy for it.  Flayra complained later about "Fades that wouldn't die"... I was quite happy to tell him why they had been invincible, after we successfully repelled the attack.

    We got the second hive back up, but HA-equipped, HMG-toting marines were becoming commonplace, and none of us had the resources to evolve to Fades (really the lowest class that can successfully 1v1 an HA marine).  As the hive again came under attack, one or two of us began to work on the marine base in Mother.  Mother is difficult to defend, as it has two normal entrances and two excellently-situated vents.  The second hive fell again, but the marines' defenses were weakening.

    My teammates were losing ground at the final hive when I arrived at Mother as a level3.  I began spiking the last turret, but respawning marines eventually killed me.  I ran back as a Skulk, evolving Carapace and Celerity (speed).  I leapt from the vent and attacked the turret, strafing madly (and quickly!) to avoid its burst fire.  Successfully defeated, I then tore into the phase gate so that marines could not come back to defend their now-vulnerable base.

    The Phase gate went down, and I saw the infantry portal right beside it.  I quickly attacked it, praying that my teammates *didn't* kill any marines for the next 20-30 seconds (so none respawned).  Finally, it disappeared in a cloud of smoke as another Skulk showed up and we both tore into the Command Console.  It beeped as the commander jumped out to defend himself and his base, but he was no match for two angry Skulks.  A third showed up, and we polished off the CC, then the Armory, Observatory, and other structures.

    Chromeangel evolved to Gorge and began building a new hive... but we had lost our original hive, and it was now 5 HA-equipped, HMG- and welder-carrying marines hunting down 3 skulks and a gorge.  *None* of us would respawn if we died... it was kill or be killed.

    Apparently they had left our previous hive to come back to the (former) marine base, as tommyd evolved to Gorge there and started a new hive as well.  The marines arrived at the base and, sadly, made short work of the three of us.  It was down to tommy, a gorge, and the two hives slowly building.  He hid in a corner of the distant hive room while the other hive finished building and the marines quickly destroyed it.

    Watching tommy from the spectator view, I heard the dreaded sound of marine footsteps approaching.  He ran, but his stubby legs could not carry him fast enough, and he fell to the deadly fire of a marine's HMG.  A tense finale, but ultimately decided by the marines' high-tech advantage.
