Just got off a game on Hera. I was playing as aliens, and for the first 10 or so minutes of the game, the combat just kept going back and forth between the "holo room" and the neighboring reception area. Neither team could get a foothold on the holo room, which held not just one, but two valuable resource nodes. Both aliens and marines fell in groups in vain defense of this room. It was just so intense -- for what felt like the first time, I really didn't care about how l33t my score was, all I wanted to do was cleanse the human presence from my new home.
Sadly, my computer gave out while this was going on, but I managed to reconnect to what was still a rockin' game. MonsE evolved into a Lerk and just started tearing the marines a new one like I had never seen before, keeping them holed up inside the reception. I was doing a decent share of butt-kicking, too, single-handedly removing a few turrets from the holoroom and giving several marines an insight on just how sharp my teeth and spikes were.
But anyway, we managed to destroy the final marine outpost and kill the marines -- except for Relic25, who had escaped the grasp of our claws. At the time, I didn't realize how weak our hive defenses were, but there was very little stopping him from running all around the level. It didn't hit me until I heard "Our hive is dying!" and learned that the Ventilation hive, far from the site of most of the combat that game, had taken a lot of damage. It eventually fell to the presumable knife of Relic25. I spread my Lerk wings and rushed to the site of the dead hive as quickly as I could. I heard the echoing of marine footsteps in the background, but everyone's favorite map designer was nowhere to be found. I cursed to myself, I hadn't been fast enough to stop the pesky meatpop.
However, soon the hivemind told me that a movement chamber in the nearby fog-filled Maintenence corridor had been attacked and destroyed. I yelled "I'm on it!" into voice-comm, then went on a mission of vengeance. I heard Relic's footsteps getting louder and louder as I approached the old marine start, which had been taken over by the aliens early in the game, although there were no alien structures there but a resource tower. Finally, I got him in sight and shot a few spikes his way. They all missed, but I had informed him of his fate. With no ammo to shoot back, he was pretty much history. I chased him into a tight alcove near the door to the warehouse while shooting a flurry of spikes, then finished him off with a strong bite or two. What a way to end the game. I can only imagine what Relic was thinking as he ran through the level alone, then suddenly heard a crescendo of flapping wings and saw a few spikes just barely miss their target. No hard feelings, Relic

So good to hear the dying screems of a lone survivor.. or at least I would assume as much. Sigh, I torture myself. Thanks Rhoads, enjoyed the story

I love the stories when they get down to just one or two people left on a team trying to win... but I always wonder how everyone else is feeling sitting around waiting till next game for them to play.
CMEst, an idea popped into my head when you said that... What is the death camera like when you are waiting to respawn? Can you only see your team, and where they are at or is it along the lines of something else?
