I was also playing SS_Nothing and I was a builder alien. I had just rebuilt the viduct hive and was moving off to help with an offensive attack by healing the aliens close to the frontline. Well, I heard a marine zooming along near me (he was using his jetpack). Cursing under my breath, I pray he is not coming my way.

BLAM BLAM BLAM, the marine flies around the corner firing. I quickly recognize the sound of a HMG. Doing what I do best, I tuck myself in the corner of a strut and throw down a defensive chamber. (Means he would have to kill the chamber before he could kill me, but chambers are weak when building). Thankfully, he had to land to recharge his jetpack and reload. This gave me ample time to get the chamber online. A defensive chamber heals you, so I gained back nearly all of my health. I pulled out my spray attack abd began firing madly.

Plopping down another defensive chamber, the marine backed off for a second to let the commander drop some health for him. Again, I had enough time to get the defensive chambe online. Now I was cornered with 2 defensive chambers healing me The marine flies up, trying to pick me off. Madly spraying, I finally killed him

To say the least, he was NOT happy when he respawned "How the HECK did you live?!? I had jetpack a HMG!" I just smiled as the rest of my team began their attack as I had reached the frontlines, and healed them all up. Soon, his complaints were lost in a level 4 swipe.

Heh, reminds me when i was playing with Silverfox, mojo, comprox, and a few others on ns_nancy. We were getting heavily owned and backed up into the marine spawn, and with comp's repeadidly attempts at attacking the hive which failed terribly everytime . I, equiped with only a welder and 20 ammo for my LMG, noticed a nearby level 3 destroying our infantry gate. I promptly pulled out my welder and starting welding the little thing. He imediately noticed it and starting flapping around, so i chased it welding like mad. The next thing i know its dead in front of me with a welder kill in my favor. The next thing i hear is, omg... i feel so stupid. That was l337.

Recently, we've played on Tanith quite a bit. Tanith has an interesting design, in that it seems all the Marines use one door, and not the other, to exit their Base.

I was playing Aliens, and, as usual, doing the Level 2 Builder thing. Everyone else tore off to give the Marines some grief, while I ambled around, dropping some Resource Towers and starting a Hive.

Now, I must say, there's a bit to Tanith that eludes me - I often get lost on my way to a certain Hive - the 'Waste' Hive - and often end up taking a route there that all but goes through the Marine Base. If I'm brimming with Resources, I'll devolve to a Level 1, and try to skulk past, climbing over the hallway door that leads into their base, then re-evolve to a Builder on the other side.

Well, I needed these points, so I just hopped on past, and made it (this time). Once past the 'front door' - the one everyone uses, I paused... the Hive Cluster was under attack! The Marine team was trying to take one of our infested nests!

Time for a different tactic. Plop! Plop! Two turrets, in case anyone tried to interrupt me. Another of my Hivebrethren clicked up on scythelike claws, apparently on the way to defend the Hive, but stopped and watched as I dropped an array of Defense Towers.

Glorp! A cocoon covered the tiny fellow. Yes, he knew what the plan was.

I mothered my little pocket of infestation to its completion, as the cocoon burst, revealing a Level 4 Soldier in its glory. Soon, a mass of alien mucus covered me, as I joined him in fully bipedal stance.

Aided by the defensive turrets, and the sheer power of our mighty sinews and acidic missiles, the Marine base quickly fell - the Turrets, the Infantry Portal, and soon after, the Command Centre, collapsed.

When the cat's away, the mice will play.

Here is a funny little ditty. I joined a game on Eclipse. Seemed reasonably early. We had 1 hive up and the marines were running around with light machine guns. The moment I spawned, I heard a lone marine's clinking of his footsteps. I crawled up to the wall above the oor and waited. He was parasited. I saw his yellow blip move to the edge of the door through the wall, stop, walk back, stop, walk back to the edge of the door, than turn around and run. With the potential threat averted, I hid behind some defense chambers and evolved upgraded carapace. I ran out of the hive and up through a hall, up a long wall in the Triad (a trio of blue generator towers), and ran out to see here that my teammate was under attack, I looked on my HUD and saw a blinking red light labeled Tommy-D.
The enterprising tommy-d, lvl 2, was engaged in a skirmish with a turret. He would place a turret down, and while the marine turret was distracted, attempt to build the turret and spit at the marine turret. I came in and threw myself at the marine turret, which already had its hands full. CHOMP! CHOMP! * many. Turret dies. We move on, and repeat the process again, tommy-d healing me all the while.
I see the marine base, undefended after those two turrets. I run in past the fire of one that I missed and bound around the corner, I see the CC, and get an idea. I decide to show my disdain for the marine commander by standing in the middle of the room and evolving to a lvl 3. I begin the change and take a screenshot. Heh heh, show those marine to not leave the CC undefended. Humiliation is one of the best teachers. I hatch and tear apart the CC with my nimble jaws. Grendel pops out, helpless, and I maul him.
I fly out one end of the cc room (imagine an oval shape of hallways with 2 rooms on each long side) and see a marine runnign into the other, oblivious. I swoop in behind him and ::CHOMP!:: tear him apart from behind, jaws rending him to shreds. I fly in a complete circuit and shoot out, past 2 marines and a turret, who spin to face me. I fly right around a corner into a marine! CHOMP! CHOMP! I miss. I whirl around, hit jump and hold, for a good swoop CHOMP! Dead marine.
There is just the spawn gate left and we win. All the aliens move in and we proceed to dispatch the respawning marines in between gate chomping. The gate falls and there is one marine remaining. I fly around a corner and chikclick. BOOM! Splat. Shotgunned to goo. The last marine is chomped my a comrade a split second later. Ah well, everyones gotta die some time.

if you join aliens half way through the game, do you get any recources so that you are not very far behind the rest of the people in the game?
• GwahirGwahir Join Date: 2002-04-24 Member: 513Members, Constellation
I don't think that would be necessary for aliens, since they use them up pretty regularly, it seems. when you play a mod where you acquire money, are you given more to start with if you join late?
• LegionnairedLegionnaired Join Date: 2002-04-30 Member: 552Members, Constellation
Like Gwahir said, guessing from the PT stories, the cash system is nothing like the CS system, as the rescources are given out at a steady rate, and your pretty effective as a level one already

since some people are waiting patiently the storys was a good idea some are boring others are good, this was a good idea to keep us occupied when the ns team is finishing up the last tounches for the game.

Last touches? I laugh at some of you newer members. We aren't even close to last touches. The game itself needs to be polished still, much less the maps.

This has gotta be the biggest thread in the NS forums. But anyways, I'm glad to get info from the playtesters, makes waiting for NS harder, yet easier at the same time.

edit: Forgot something entertaining I thought I'd share with you guys. I was playing AvP 2 about a week ago, and it was a team objective map, I was playing as a marine (of course). A rather devistating attack at the hands of a few aliens had left our team with only 7 members, including myself, instead of 15. We were retreating to our airlock spawn when we were ambushed by 2 aliens, who we managed to waste in about 2 second flat (5 pulse rifles, my smartgun, and a shotgun tore the ugly f*ckers new orafaces >=]). We then decided to head to the armory and restock, which was about 30 meters away. When we arrived, 4 aliens popped out of the ceiling vents above us and claimed the lives of 2 marines, head-biting them both. We killed 'em. We then entered the armory and locked down the doors and sealed them from the outside. Little did we know that there was an alternate entrance to the room, through the floor. We stocked up and healed, and then resolved to make a mad dash for the airlock to safety, and victory, when the lights blinked out. What came next was easily the greatest gaming moment I've ever encountered. We all dropped 3 or 4 flares, and activated out shoulder lamps, knowing what to expect next. atleast 8 aliens shot out of the floor, some clinging to the ceiling, others to the floor. It didn't much seem to matter, as we shot all who came forth. I ended up being the only survivor of the incident. I knew what I had to do. I rushed the door, opened it, and found an empty, silent hallway. I dashed towards the airlock, backpedaling and wasting aliens as I went. I finally made it to the airlock, closed the doors, and took off in the shuttle. It was one hellova ride.

Is this normal AvP2 or a mod or the expansion? I have never heard of that mode.

Hey all I am a new poster but been haunting this forum for quite sometime; about 3 or 4 months...

Great job!!! It appears that this mod is going to be consuming a lot of my time (us law students don't have much to begin with.. damn you flayra!&#33 much to the dismay of my my grades!

All I wanted to state was, "Am I the only person that got Jammer's obscure but hilarious South Park reference."
