I live on the east coast of Australia so the answer is no.

I'm going out abseiling this weekend on a 100m (300 feet *bleugh*) vertical overhang, lotsa fun. We're gonna practice rescues.

A tale of Marine JOY! I had just gotten home, and sat down and joined the game. Here was the status of the marine team.
They were playing on NS_Nothing, and were isolated in one hive room on the right hand corner of the map. I joined and all technology had laready been researched. All other easily defendable areas had been blanketed with turrets. Our only advantage was that whoever had been commanding last had wisely placed structures . . well just a minute. I need to describe the hive room we had been holed up in. The far right corner Hive room ( I believe the generator hive) is shaped like a big barrel. BIG. As in, 5 or 6 stories tall big. It is a piling of bulk heads and "decks" sticking out from the wall, with a pit of electified water at the bottom. As I was saying, whoever had been commanding before I joined had placed structures on those shelves. Often out of sight of aliens. We had jetpacks, so such heights were a non-issue. The game stalled for a good 20 minutes after my joining, with neither side gaining the upper hand. Finally, me and grendel snuck off down a hallway. Sighting a vent that we knew lead to the "vent hive" (or, "Hive Location: Ventilation), we got in and began our slow crawl through the level. Outside of the vent, we could here the pulsing gooey sounds of alien infestation, taking hold of the station. We crawled to the end and jumped out. I looked down at my feet as I surveyed the hive room, which was fortified with a mear two alien turrets.
At my feet, a gleaming shotty was lying. Ah . .joy, it must be fate. I picked it up and flew back up into the vent, Grendel flyign into the vent across from me. We could cover eachother this way. I typed "Someone get in the command chair and put up a siege turret in here" I waited and, sure enough, one appeared, barely squeezed into the tight space of the vent. I built it frantically, waiting to be ambushed at any moment by a level 1 or level 3. Sure enough, a level 1 ran up, but not at me, at grendel. I whirled around and unloaded 2 shots, spraying the vent with pellets, but failing to kill at that range. Only 8 shells left. Grendel finished him off, and I got back to building. The build disc slowly filling, I heard the sounds of yet another Level 1, this one caught on faster. It shot up the wall and looked me right in the eyes. My fingers Squeezed the trigger. BOOM!. Alien goo mixed with lead pellets spattered the outside of grendels vent.
I completed the siege turret and watched it rotate around menacingly. It locked on to the hive below me and behind me, out of my sight. I turned around to face the outside of the vent, awaiting the angry aliens sure to come to my doorstep. I hear the claws of one, clacking on the ground. I ready my shotgun, just 7 shining shells remaining. The toothy snout pops up over the lip of the vent. I wait. He shoots inward, claws rending. Let me pause for a moment.

Waitaminute, arent marines toast in a vent? Usually yes. Here is an exception.
The shotgun is a Close range weapon. Basically, its the marine answer to melee. Because I was fully upgraded, it was bite vs. technological bite.
In other words, charging a shotgun at close range is never a good idea, even if you are a bloodthirsty, numb to pain, alien killing machine.

So, where was I? Oh yeah. He bites me. Bites me bad. The siege and I fire simultaneously, I hear the hive wince below as I watch my enemy liquefy. 3 more level 1 carcasses later, the ACM (Automated Siege Cannon) stops firing. Grendel's english accent rings over voice comm: "You stay there, I'm going to go see if the hive is down". Alrighty, fine by me. I peek my head out and watch as he swoops down. From the bottom, I hear pleasent news "The Hive is Down! they have 1 left now!" Well, this game is brightenging up. From the brink of death to the brink of victory in one clean stroke. Elegant. To top it all off, Grendel adds "And I found a Grenade Launcher!". Well, peachy keen, considering we have less than 1/3 the resources we need for a GL. This is truly fortunate.
Grendel issues the orders now "Alright, everyone meet at the base upon respawn, get together, move out, and take out that last hive. Me and Hum are going to defend this" Well, I'm fine and dandy in my little vent, and my helpful commander has dropped a weeks supply of health and ammo right in my face. Grendel flies back up into his vent, and we wait.
Out of nowhere, a rush comes. two level 1s, one in front of grendel, one behind me. They hit us at once, Flanking us! A level 3 swoops past, flinging spikes into grendel's vent. The siege must be preserved if we are to keep the hive down. I spin around. BLAM! BLAM! Goo. I spin back around. BLAM! nothing. The aliens escape, and the Grenade Launcher is lost. I fly over to grendel's vent. In seconds, the old level 1 is back. He tears apart my siege turret. I fly out of my vent, and swoop into the siege vent. CHOMP! He's too quick for me. I fall and my shotgun clacks on the floor.
Eventually, we got together as a team and, using vents, frantic building, and even 2 knife kills (I got one of em), managed to eliminate that last hive. We won.
I learned a few thigns myself. If your welding vents, have a shotgunner cover your welding man. In fact, anything involving vents, take a shotgun.

I dedicate this story to the beauty that is SHOTGUNS!

    <span style='color:orange'>Bit of a doozy!</span>

We were playing on NS_Nancy (I think) and was about a 5v5 game. On the marine side, we were trying to get a few upgrades before moving out. Seeing we needed more resources, we moved off to a node near the alien hive that was already online. On the way, I lost my 2 squad mates and it wasn’t looking too good. I arrived at the node to find it still empty. I could hear the ticking of alien claws nearby, so I quickly scanned the area and narrowed the location of the noise to a vent above my head, or a door nearby. Hoping to let the alien come out and kill it, without it knowing I was there, my silly commander dropped a resource nozzle, alerting anything nearby with nice sound effects <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

Seeing I may as well try and get it built, I positioned myself in a spot where I could build and watch some of the hot spots. Not even done ¼ of the build, a level 1 charged out of the door. Thankfully, opening the door had alerted me, and given me time to get me gun back out from building. Seeing as I was all prepared, he barely got his head out before he was long dead. I turned around to build some more, and heard the door open again quickly. I spun around to see a level 1 trying to sneak onto the roof. I littered the walls with bullets until I saw the body fall off. After a reload, I turned around and finally finished the resourcer. A turret factory appeared beside me, and I built it quickly without incident. *psswt*, I felt a little jolt as a level 1 parasited me! Cursing under my breath, I spun around to see him diving back into a hallway. I chased him into the hall, and killed him off just before he got around the corner at the far end.

Finally, back at the nozzle some backup arrived, and we laid down 2 turrets for a little defense. Thinking it was all good, we headed off to another nozzle for some more points. I stopped a few seconds later, as I heard some chomping back at the last nozzle. Running back, I saw a level 1 had sneaked in and was taking out our resourcer. I hopped over some boxes and laid waste to it. The commander kindly dropped down one more turret to cover the path we had missed earlier.

We moved out to the next nozzle again, and built it quickly. Stepping into the next room, we found 2 alien turrets. Strafe firing at them, we killed one of easily, but a flier had dropped by, and hurt me badly. The last turret hit us both once, knocking us dead. Upon our respawn, our commander kindly dropped down some HMG’s for us! I locked and loaded. With 2 teammates this time, we moved off to kill a hive. En route, we discovered the aliens had all 3 hives online! The aliens began to bombard our base…

While my 2 silly teammates ran back to defend, I trudged onwards to the “Mother” hive. I kindly explained if we killed this hive, we could deprive the aliens of their highest level weapons, but my 2 teammates that had run back to defend, had been killed by now. Seeing nothing around, I emptied 2.5 clips into the hive, dropping it dead. As the hive played its’ death animation, a flier came in too late, trying to save it. I embedded enough bullets into it, to make it retreat, obviously too hurt to continue the battle.

By now, our commander had gotten us some nifty jetpacks to zoom around in. In an attempt to kill more hives before we lost our base, I hopped into the nearest one to find the next hive. With my jetpack aiding me along when it could, I popped out near another hive. I dropped down to the ground, and began the short jaunt over to the hive. A few measly level 1’s tried to attack, and I disposed of about 4 of them en route. Suddenly I became quite scared, I heard the familiar BOOM BOOM of a level 5 walking around in the hive room. It seems he had retreated back here to let the hive heal him. I peeked my head in the door, only to find a packet of alien turrets firing at me. Cursing at my luck, I tried to high tail it out, as I know I had alerted that damn level 5. Not long after, I heard the roar of a level 5 as he began a charge attack, and it stormed down the tiny hall. Seeing as the hall was so small, my jetpack was useless and I quickly died.

After respawn, I found our base under heavy attack. I quickly loaded up on ammo, and snuck out the back door and hopped back into the vent system. Heading back to the last hive, I asked my commander if  we had siege yet. He confirmed we had. After a lot of maneuvering in the vents, we found a spot where we could build a siege and it could hit the hive! Unfortunately, with my jetpack sounds, I had alerted a level 3 in the hive of my movements above. I tried to do a quick exit, but I had used my jetpack all up, and it had not had time to regenerate. I got off a few shots at the level 3 before he killed me.

After my next respawn, it was all over. The base was almost dead, and we just got pounded into the ground <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> Even after nearly killing 2 of their hives myself, we still lost. But, damn, was it fun!

Hey there buddy, your not there to DM, your there for the team!  And the team needs them resources ...

And I'd just like to state for the record; Comprox <i>'had to leave'</i> about 5 minutes before that match ended.

If he had stayed, I know we could have won ...

And where was he after the game you ask ...?  Why, kicking back and relaxing in IRC ...

And he knew we could of won, cause I was the only marine that could stay alive for more than 2 minutes and actually get to a hive <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

Why?  Because of your damned Rambo tactics ... and they stay at base, when the marines need to ATTACK to win

    Bah!  Off my post fewl!
They stayed at the base, because you ran off trying to kill everything by yourself - someone has to stay behind and build upgrades and resource towers! Upgrades don't matter when they took so long to upgrade that we are DEAD when they are done, no? <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

A little addendum to Humbaba's account of our epic game against the alien horde...

We are all hunkered down in the hive. We have a phase gate (nifty teleport device) in the middle of the hive base, placed so that we can quickly nip back to the original spawn base. I accidentally step through it to discover that the spawn base is toast and there are 10 alien turrets all around the emergence point.

    Fade to black.

    2 Mins later...

<Greedo386> Go through the phase gate.
    <Grendel> Are you sure?
    <Greedo386> GO THROUGH NOW!
<Grendel> Umm, have the turrets been killed?
    <Greedo386> GO NOW!
<Grendel> *Whimper* OK, if you say so.

*zzzip* (Noise of 10 turrets opening fire over voice comms)

    <Grendel> Arrrghhh
    <Greedo386> Damn. LOL.

Discipline is good. Cowardice is however occasionally worth a look.  <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

It depends. How often do you go to a board and tell the owners how you think they are not doing a good job providing you with free content frequently enough? If you feel that that that was insulting and threatening, well, you need to get out more. What's even better is you post your complaint in a thread which you have never seen before - a mod team telling you interesting stories about a game before release.

I think I should clairify a few things real quickly.

Edit: I can see where you can get that, but I meant no ill-will by it. The previous poster simply stated that 15 or so screenshots are posted every week, which is incorrect. The screenshots come about every other week most of the time. I didn't mean to sound like 'OMG they r lazye dont take screenz evry day'. But if I did, I am sorry that it came off as such. I was just saying that the statement was incorrect and I will try to correct people less in the future.

That said, back to your regularly scheduled stories.

Well, bear in mind that that game was in constant flux. People were comign and going, dying and spawning, getting weapons. I found the shotgun upon walkign in the room. It is entirely possible that a marine carrying one had died 30 seconds earlier. As for the grenade launcher Grendel found, I don't know how it got there, but my best explanation is that a marine came in as me and grendel were hiding in the vent and was killed.
