erm i just saw another movie the one with the flying saw things. no idea what they were but the spark effects are amazzing. + it showed the bit in the screan shot where the water creature impales a bag guy. The lip synching and water effects are ground breaking. AND it showed flame effects when gorden set a enemy on fire with sum sort of nade launcher. heheh its quality.

AHEM neway i g2h get bk to revision 4 my GCSEs now(big tests in england when u are 16)

What I found amazing was the character movment, it looked amazing. And the eyes and facial expressions (the last game that tried facial expressions, Soldier of Fortune 2, it was laughable).

I hate this slang but the situation calls for it.

Barney in the House!

Did you guys see him in those videos? Damn that bobby looks bad-****, especially when he was carrying that MP5, back against the wall and peeking around the corner. Sweet. The musculature is quite impressive, Valve really did their work.

Hmm, nope. I have seen many a game that surpased what I saw for how good the graphics were.

But here is the important part, those were all scripted, cut scenes, or CGI FMV (Computer Generated Images - Full Motion Video). This is all interactive, and only barely below the afore mentioned methods in terms of graphical quality!

Just on that alone, HL2 is going to "roxors my boxors"! Hehe, I know I stole that saying from someone, just can't seem to remember...

I know all the other stuff that will come in the gameplay of HL2 will put me into some sort of rapturous-like, zen-like, or some other silly semi-religous state state.

Imagine if NS was ported to the HL2 engine. Imagine an Onos charging at you through a stack of barrels, and then having the barrels fly accross the room!

Or perhaps a cloaked Fade, distinguishable only by his shadow (or better yet, watching what looks like just a shadow running at you!).

Ooooh I can't wait. This is yummy.

The link works, I think the site is just getting hammered a lot. May have to retry for awhile to finally get on.

except of course for when the gun is used to pick up a matress.. :P

and in another video, it picks up a dead soldier by the leg and swings him around heh.

That was a different gun though.

It was red with a tractor beam, while the other was orange and just use magnetism

i think its the 2nd gamespot movie but im sure the first thing picked up is just a cardboard box.

Its cool when gordon moves those antlion things with those bombs, sends lots to there doom into the sgs so gordon could get through with minimal dmg. dont have a high value for life they do, they just follow the scent . shame that big thing came along and wasnt so easily fooled, poor gordon flew.

NS will have to get some outside maps just so we can have aliens like the strider ones

cloaking could be done like the char model that has the water texture on it u see in the tech demo.

another cool thing would be where comm could maybe place a certain ammount of cameras in places and they work just like the one in tech demo.

all my doubts of HL2 not revolutionizing the gaming industry likes its predeccesor were just eliminated with that tech video.

Think of how Day of Defeat 2 will be, and NS2! If the DoDteam goes back to their senses and makes DoD not suck, it will be the greatest mod in all existance on Half-Life 2.

Gah! After watching that one made me say... WTH! MUSIC!? Man, I remember in HL SP when I'd listen for the Sounds and find out patterns and make beats with my CrowBar. ~_^

Now, BAD VOICE ACTING! Oh wow! "Get... the hell.... OUT OF HERE! Gah!" No, that was worse than Manos the Hands of Fate.

they still have until September 30th to perfect it! And even when it comes out, some people will just not be satisfied

But after watching that tech demo, I will personally go to their house and kcik the crap out of them if they are not satisfied. The camera part was awesome, and I want the gravity gun or tractor beam or wahtever it was!!

Yes I watched about 6 of the videos and they were all pretty darn impressive. The camera was great, the ragdoll physics were nice, and I also liked how the matress would bend over/around other objects.
• DubersDubers Pet Shop Boy Edinburgh, UK Join Date: 2002-07-25 Member: 998Members
Yeh the camera bit is really cool. Think of the aplications for that in a mod. Splinter Cell mod here we come!!

I wonder if gordon would have appeared on the moniter if he had picked it up from the other end.
