I downloaded the free subnautica game from epic games launcher for my windows 10 laptop and it gets me to start page and when click survival it loads maps and stuff and it says to play game click any key and after that it just become black screen also I can not get sound what so ever. and some how I can skip black screen with esc but after that it freeze when I try to do anything other than walking.
I uninstalled and reinstalled game
-Vrmode none
and still doesn't work so if someone can help that'll be awesome
HD Graphics 5500 might be the problem. It's going to share system memory with that underpowered GPU and Subnautica and Windows... it's not going to be pretty. If you put another 8GB of RAM in + a dedicated GPU, even a 1050, you might be fine.
I bought the game in the launcher from the Epic and tried to put the mod Nitrox but when you install alpha 1.0.0.8 error occurs, claiming that I install the mod in the wrong directory. Direction rechecked several times, the game was reinstalled. Help please.
I have had the same issue with the black screen, blue cursor and music. Scoured the forums and this is what worked for me, give it a try.
-go to your C: drive
-click users and select your username
(if you're unsure of your name open CMD/command prompt and type "whoami" without quotations and hit enter)
-click in the address bar and type \appdata after your username file path
-click local low
-click unknown worlds
-click subnautica
-click subnautica again
-click saved games
-delete options folder (I copied and pasted it to my desktop then deleted it from the subfolder)

Please note Nitrox is incompatible with almost every other mod because it conflicts with QModManager, which almost every other mod uses as a base. Be sure you don't have any other mods installed.

How does that work? In that CMD prompt (if you are in PowerShell, first put in cmd and press enter to use 'normal' CMD prompt), type in
echo %userprofile%
Cool, right?
If you want to see a list of variables your system has set, you can type
set
without arguments into the CMD prompt and see a list. Any value on the left, like for example SystemRoot, can be entered as %SystemRoot% to substitute its value in a command (so if you were giving instructions or making a script, and didn't know if maybe a user had custom installed Windows to D:\WINNT instead of C:\Windows, you could tell them to put in %SystemRoot%\ and the system will take the environment variable and substitute it to whatever that particular system has set).
Some variables are system-wide (apply to that entire Windows install regardless of who is logged in) and some are per-user (like the %userprofile% changes based on who is logged in at the moment).
User variables are stored in the registry here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment
and system-wide variables are stored in the registry here:
Excellent! Im happy for you. I was in the same boat. I just started playing the game when Epic offered it, I was completely taken by surprise and I am totally obsessed lol. I sunk about 25 hours in before this happened and I feared the worst.
Im so glad i didnt get any problems from the epic games launcher it seems i got lucky with that, even though i have a serious bug in the game. My aurora cannot render correctly
Hello, I'm new and I also have the same problem. I downloaded Subnautica when it was free on Epic game. I then contacted Epic Game and was redirected here.
when I start the game nothing happens. We can just see on the bottom left '' loading ... '' and on the top right of the number (probably the date) , I also have an error message [see file]
I try all the solutions proposed before and none works.
I had my pc at Christmas and I do not know anything about gaming.
if you please, would you help me? thanks
(sorry for English, I speak french)
Got the game through Epic. Stable playing during a month.
After december windows update (I guess) got much issues:
- No sound
- Black intro screen with "Press any button" and "hold escape button" when I start new game. After holding "escape" the game starts but:
1. Game menu does not work. Trying to save or quit - buttons are ignoring me.
2. "Tab" shows me empty inventory.
3. Random glitches with doors and transport.

Ah, let me show you the magic of environment variables!
You can just copy-paste this into the address bar and it should go there for you:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
You are actually the best!
I've been waiting forever!
I'm actually almost in tears!

Yeah, FMOD isn't loading according to your output_log. Check and see if there are any driver updates for your system.
