Playing around in creative; I made a reaper pen. It kinda works - the reaper's head doesn't seem to be able to pass through the base, so it stays inside, although its body frequently clips right through the walls as the monster tries to find a way out.

That, my good man, is one of the coolest seabase designs i've seen in a while.

Ok; here's my completely overkill base that took up 6 hours of my life:

Now, you've all seen the "rock, paper, shotgun" articles on the info beneath the launch screen right? This is from the "dangerous creatures" update:
"If Pip were around, she’d focus on how the latest Subnautica [official site] update added a lovely big undersea tree and new glowing Ghost Rays to swim around it. She’s a peaceful one, our Pip, probably hoping to build another wonderful seabase near that tree. However, Pip is at EGX today, so Pip can’t write this. Instead, you get me telling you about the awful new hostile sealife in the aquatic explore-o-build-a-surviver’s ‘Dangerous Creatures’ update. "

So I decided to outdo RPS and build my own amazing seabase.
    Here it is:

This is the only reason why I would ever want multiplayer.

Making gigantic bases that actually serve a practical use of housing multiple people.

I guess there is always imagining that there are others.

Base Tour, as noted in the youtube description, sorry for the throat clearing near the end, ran a lot longer than i thought it would, made for a very dry throat.

Why didn't you make this with glass corridors?

Because he'd break the glass, obviously! I did put in an observation deck with some glass corridors, I just didn't make the whole thing glass.

And here's my current actual base, in hardcore mode. The central column houses an alien containment tank on the levels below the moonpools, and a bedroom area on the level above. One moonpool for each of my accessory vehicles (obviously). Power is from a trio of thermal plants you can just make out in the picture that doesn't show the ghost tree. I chose this spot because I can see the tree cove (damn that place looks cool) but the depth is just above the 900m cutoff for the seamoth, so I can make moth runs to the surface if I want, and not have to drive the cyclops. It's also not far to reach the ILZ and the unfinished precursor base in the Lost River.

Alright, with the new update coming soon, I'll probably nuke my save game again, so I made a few screenshots of my current base at the precursor gun base. Set it up directly at the moonpool area for a place to park the Cyclops in. Conveniently has a thermal vent close enough to link with the base for night time power. Named the Cyclops "Precursor" and the Seamoth and Prawn both "Warper" hoping the real Warpers won't notice the difference.

It's a rather compact base, consisting only of a Moonpool, three Multipurpose Rooms, two Observatories and three T-Corridors for ladders between stories. Growbeds on connectors provide all the plant materials I could need for production.

Just found these forums. Been playing since Christmas just past. Loving this game a lot :) Thought I'd show what I've managed in Survival mode so far. Have 3 bases & of course the mobile base - my cyclops. Sorry if the narratives boring but I don't do a lot of this stuff and I'm old ;)

I don't know why I hadn't thought to check out these forums before. So many beautiful bases! They've given me some ideas for future builds :D
Some of the pictures look so..clean and high quality. Is it just the graphics (mine are only on recommended) or do many people edit them?

I'd like to share my current base, I think the cove tree is the most beautiful place ingame <3 I did this in creative and then in my survival playthrough.

Although I've been playing Subnautica since its first public release, I haven't had much time to spend in the community other than reporting bugs keeping up with the Trello boards. I hopped onto the forums recently, saw this post for the first time, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone's different bases. So, I thought I would share my own as well.

Details about the base and its design can be found below the video (for those interested in more detail).

The tour video itself purposefully has no voice overs, music or sounds other than the natural sounds of Subnautica, and I've tried to explore inside and outside the base as if I were giving a crew member a first time tour, including day and night viewpoints. Since I'm playing, recording, and editing on a laptop, I had to limit the video to 720p HD to keep 50+ fps with the highest game settings and still have a smooth video. So, YouTube may not play it as crisp or smoothly as I would like, but it should be good enough. Hope you enjoy!

"Atlantis" started as one cross section tube on a single platform with a solar panel, situated in the Safe Shallows (what I've termed the "Keystone Tube" in the video). I started my umpteenth play test from scratch using the latest Infected Update and played through all aspects of the game again, building up this base one piece at a time as I was able, as I found the resources and blueprints, and as was needed/desired. Nothing was pre-planned or designed in advance, and no land was terraformed. I just worked around the land and built what I could when I could. I did have ideas as to what I wanted, but not where. Everything ended up in almost perfect locations for entry/exit as well as just enjoyable views - a cross between on the fly strategic choices and pure luck.

The base should illustrate about 90% of everything that can be built or discovered at this time, with exceptions like the thermal generators (I am in the Shallows after all). Since I only built a single base in this play through, I decided to role play a little and try to make the base reasonably realistic for a crew assuming at this point they either can't leave the planet or have purposefully chosen to stay. I think I've reached a good balance of hull integrity vs. glass and viewing areas, as well as including well defined spaces such as operations, quarters, storage, leisure, gardens, reactor, water filtering, docks, etc. Reactor power is backup only - the entire base is fully powered without issue using all the solar panels you see, placed in strategic positions. Having been a submariner in real life, there would normally be more bulkhead doors, but it bugs out my game after about the 4th or 5th door.

Looking at your fantastic buildings I start to get frustrated. I am new to the game and tried building a base for a few hours now. All I can get is one foundation and a not aligned room flying a bit above. Putting a second foundation next to it or a second room on top or at the side seems to be impossible.

I sure am missing something, like the skill to do it or the right controls.. *sighs* or is this a bug? I'd appreciate every little bit of help.

Here's CP Omega & Relay Station Charlie, working on Waystation Whiskey Foxtrot atm.. Just for distance reference Relay Station Charlie is maybe a half a click North West from CP Omega and Waystation Whiskey Foxtrot is about 1 click from Omega (1 click = 1000 meters)

Here is relay station Charlie, which is now abandoned. The nuclear reactor is probably dead and gone offline by now and the base is most likely running off of auxiliary power supplies.. I keep it online just to be able to say there is a Relay station in that area.

I'm sorry for you, you have a really cool base and it would be cool to see it here.

Well then, I also see the broken html code now... Something screwy is going on here

Maybe you could post it in HTML itself, the forum does allow that... There is something weird going on the the [ img ] BBCode it seems... That does seem to work, just check out my post above by quoting it to see it, if you can't do HTML OR NOT!

    @Foxy whats going on yo

I have no idea how to do that lol every picture on this thread is showing just the bbcode link. None of them show up from anyone. But in other threads they load. And even sometimes i can upload a picture and it will post correctly. Most of the time though it just says upload failed or posts that bbcode link. It cant be my end. Because it does it on my desktop, laptop, and my phone. I have no idea whats going on.

Since I've gotten back into playing Subnautica I might as well share my current base~ It's nothing spectacular and is kinda haphazzardly built... But it's home~

Currently no real interior views though, since there's not much to see (Other than the pretty view of the Scanner Room's map~!)

"Aquarium A" is where I have my Peepers and Bladderfish kept, along with a boneshark and some jellyrays.
"Aquarium B" is my 'Stalker Pen' where I have a family of stalkers living. I released one into the waters a little ways past my entrance at the top of that diagram. It's been passive towards me but past experiences taught me that hatched stalkers will still try and attack your Seamoth, even if its docked in the MoonPool. So I didn't want it too close to it heh.

On that note though, I hope that player-hatched fauna being passive towards you is intentional, and I hope they expand on that. I'd love, LOVE to have a stalker follow me around or be taught to seek out metal scrap for me. Or at least just follow me or OMG BEING ABLE TO PAT IT ON ITS SNOUT LIKE IT WAS A DOLPHIN <3 The stalkers are by far my favorite creature in Subnautica, I just adore them to bits. Sea Dragon's a close #2 though!

The base continues outside of the precursor base but I think that this is the most unique part of it.
The base outside is not extremely big but I wanted a place to store my cyclops so I used this. Its able to hold 2 cyclops at a time.
