Congratulations to Archaea for their win, and the entire NS2 community for an outstanding piece of competitive gaming.

Thank you to RTSGuru.com and FPSGuru.com for their sponsorship and support, and Roccat for their generous prize donation.
Thank you Dillon and your awesome group of admins for you precise, timely and reliable administrative work behind the scenes.
Thank you to every player, and every team captain, for your timeliness, professionalism and flair. You should all be very proud. What you all did is the envy of many a larger game, and no doubt many competitive communities to. You are building a wonderful environment in which people can play the game they love in front of incredibly large audiences.
Now the question is... Who will knock Archaea off their perch? ;)

Those matches were fun. I watched replays :P especially that 40 min game with nexzil & inversion.
Minus the 2 hive 7 minutes onos games...
Only by watching the matches. The recordings are located across several locations

Thank you to Hugh and Wasabione for casting, bringing us in and providing us with a cracking start. Thank you 100x over for you guys. All you guys, without your interest, dedication, love and play we'd not have teams and to watch you guys play was simply put: Amazing.
From casting those few games in our "wtf is NS2" style manner taught me much, took my heart and I intend to continue with NS2 and casting.
Congratulations to Archaea!!
Gooby plz

Challenge accepted.
Not really. If their team play is good enough, then you have to outskill them. Currently no team besides inversion even comes remotely close to the skill gap between ARC. This is disregarding bad game mechanics that lead to victory of course, of which NS2 has a good chunk.
This is the unfortunate truth, and why you probably won't see Inversion improving a whole lot in the near future. The NA competitive scene is d-e-d dead. We can't really scrim before 6-7 EST, and by that time the only opponent to play is often a very sleepy nexzil who does not play the quality games I know they are capable of at those times. In terms of experience/team play we are probably the greenest team out there by several magnitudes, I can count on one hand the number of quality practice games we've had in the past 2 months.
There is just no one to practice against in the NA because no one plays this game in the NA. So we just kind of get screwed in this respect. :|
I am wondering why nobody has yet mentioned, that a lot of decent information about this tournament were missing. No tournament website, no livestream the first day.
I had to message different people, casters and others, to find out what is going on ... or why there was no livestream on friday.
Hugh did a great job in organizing a sponsor and i expecially liked the insight from the rts/fpsguru guys. I would really like to see/hear them some more on the liverstreams.
But that doesnt mean, that the organizer stand behind criticism.
+Hughs and wasabis castings ( as allways )
+special guests
+sponsoring
-no central tournament website with all essential information
-no livestreams the first day
Well to be honest there was no central website cause I simply ran out of time... We had spoken with all the team captains and had many admins standing by with the rules and such... The bracket was publicly available but I forgot to post the link. Also if you heard me Sunday night... I was well dead... actually beyond dead I could barely speak. Friday and Saturday Casting and admining and all the other stuff too, was just too much + live streaming adds a lot of pressure to the players and casters and can be difficult too.
You can check out http://youtube.com/wasabi0n3 for a lot of the matches that happened on Friday and I believe some were uploaded to ns2hd as well...
The Logitech event this weekend will be much smaller and a lot easier to manager, but we hope to have some special news for you folks in the next two days that should help with these events in the future.
I was really angry that day.
It was the biggest tournament we had yet. And we missed a lot of it. Recordings are not the same, because i would allready know the result.
Despite the prizes, it was one of the mediocre tournaments i have yet experienced. U have the resources, u can invite some people from the community to cast the first matches and still failed to do so.
U are rushing the tournaments, thats yours and hughs problem. Hugh is allways telling us, that the community is a big part of the game, but u failed at least at one day (friday) to support that claim.
I know that most of the community casters would have liked to stream the first matches, as i would have liked to see these matches...
Plz dont do that ever again...
Even though wasabi and hugh would not have been able to stream friday.
Other casters was standing by, and have been trying to contact you for over a week.
Both Ryne and Arclight comes to mind.
Please do not exclude ANY caster from ANY tournament, or cup. The more the merrier. More promotion for ns2.
the tournament was kinda sloppy organized. But hopefully it gets better as the time goes.
Please don't ever make such a blase post for feedback ever again. Your tone and argument is incredibly offensive, as if you think that somehow the amount of casting done in the Guru Tournament was a active choice made by me or anyone else involved.
You could have come in here and said 'I really wish there were more resources available, because I would love to see more of these games. It's a shame that Friday games were missed.' That's valid. Hell, I feel that way to. A post like that would focus attention on everyone's desire for more live NS2 play. It would be constructive criticism.
But you didn't, your post doesn't, and instead of doing any of that you've induced my absolute disdain for your opinion.

I have no idea why you are posting this. Post it in a thread about a tournament that has excluded casters. Don't post it in a thread about a tournament that hasn't. Otherwise, in true forum nature, people will read this thread and think I did.
Now, give me moar! And info about logitech this weekend would be great too! It feels like we should have brackets soon so we know which maps we need to start practice.

He's obviously a big fan of the streams and didn't make any personal attack so in return I think you could be more sympathetic.

OK back on topic...
...I'd give the tournament an 8/10
-1 for not covering early matches which confused me
-1 for sound level issues which is funny when we're all shouting in the chat but also kinda distracting
