Well I am planning the layout without elevators or ladders at this time. Some vertical shift will happen tho.

The rotating stairs on the right bottom should IMO be changed to a ramp. It would look more natural.

Nice work here. Seeing all those remakes popping out recently makes me want to make also one. But unfortunatelly, even after countless trials, I can't settle with Spark editor. Dunno why :-/ And where to get time :-D

    That is exciting news!
It should be fun to play on it, even if you just greybox some areas.

Got something done, but still few boxy rooms and hallways to make for the alpha.
Ill try to rush it without details so its possible to try it out somehow.

very nice stuff there you should grey box it really quick so we can test it on the workshop
  • quazilinquazilin Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9880Members, Contributor, NS2 Playtester, Squad Five Blue
Here is the current boxed layout and it should be fully playable if you want to try it out.

    Things to notice!
-There is very little detailing at the moment.
-Not sure if the waypointing works correctly.
-You can build almost everywhere, nobuilds not added yet, nor comm invisibles.
    -BUGS?!

Any suggestions or reports are welcome.

Looks cool man, the basics are there. Seems to be a little smaller in scale than the NS1 version?

I was a big fan of NS1 Metal. Loved that underground corridor with the moving floor door, that tall curved hallway that went into marine spawn, and elevator shaft. That map had lots of originality and created many interesting gameplay scenarios. Thanks for trying to bring this to NS2, wish you all the best with this project!

You should put this in the steam workshop, <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=118717" target="_blank">read this thread for instructions</a>.

Tested it yesterday and while its of course heavily wip, somehow it really didnt feel like good old ns_metal at all. It felt like all distances were a lot shorter, and pretty much everything felt really small. I always remembered ns_metal to be that map that had tall and wide hallways nice for blinking with the fade, but here it felt really cramped. I might be wrong tho, its been a long time since i played ns1.

Ok, I will scale the rooms and hallways along the way, it feels bit tight atm for me too. Biggest problems for me is the Storage and the big elevator shaft because I have to create something else or them... Not sure about the layout too. Maybe changing it to the original.

Yeah the minimap doesn't seem oriented the right way. Marine start is supposed to be on the south side. Took me looking at it for a couple seconds to see the resembelence to ns_metal.

Good work! It's coming along great. :)

I had a lot of great games on metal back in the day.
