I prefer "resources", it's clean and easy to understand. As a bonus it's a universal word for different kinds of resources, e.g. money, food, employees etc., point being it fits both marines and aliens.
Not a fan of the suggested renaming. That's where we were originally with carbon and....whatever the other was called. It was confusing, so we went to a nice universal 'resources'.
whats wrong with "<u><b>resource</b></u>", that is what is comming out of the "resource collectors/harvestors"...stick with "resource", dont change it!
Resources have the same functions and come from common resource point for both teams, so I don't think having different names for each team increase clarity.
They are placeholder voice alerts, so it doesnt matter... the new ones are in the making, or at least very close to being made.

Nothing wrong with or hard to understand about t.res and p.res. Quite the contrary. I think the game just needs A LOT more tooltips for newer players. For example one that tells them they can evolve to a higher alien lifeform, they can use the armory to buy weapons, etc etc.
It doesnt make sense because nanites are streaming out, the extractor collects the and the harvester destroys them( lets more bactirium grow) so resources should stay
For immediate clarity to new players, I would be in favor of changing the names, It would also strengthen the asymmetry of the teams using different names. I like the idea of credits, and for me proteins is a good word, and I would be happy if they were used as the replacements, but if I might offer some suggestions if they havn't already been thought of.
For the Frontiersmen; Tres = Resources. Pres = funds. and the Kahara: Tres = harvest. pres = feed.
Drones, SCVs and probes all mine minerals. In NS2, harvesters and extractors mine from the same source.
Call them the same thing. Until you've done a usability study to see if anyone <i>actually finds it unclear</i>, don't waste time changing it. Once again,<b> do a usability study</b>. Don't ask the 10 playtesters in an echo chamber how they want it to be. Get a large number of disconnected people to tell you what they think of resources/credits/proteins.
I think "resources" is fine. It fits well with the backstory and makes sense visually: Money doesn't grow on trees and credits don't flow out of a hole in the ground.
If there's any work to be done, it's in better differentiating team and personal res.
It's a small point of confusion for new players but I can see a few reasons why that might be: the icons/labels don't intuitively communicate the concepts; it's different to NS1; there's no intuitive reason or backstory explaination for the tRes/pRes system. F. eg, you could say the harvesters and extractors are tuned to process a certain ratio of industrial grade nano paste (tRes) vs consumer grade (pRes).
New players often don't realise tRes even exists until they command for the first time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the whole point of changing it to pres/tres because people were getting confused? And now you want to change it up again. Sounds legit.

just make sure you use the full names in some sort of demo.
making two different names (credits & proteins) for both sides just adds to the complication....!
(plus I don't like the word credits, it's not something I expect to get out of an "extractor".)
