    "Evolve" A new game engine produced by Unknown Worlds Entertainment currently in its alpha,
    an multiplayer engine stream lined for net code, physics, graphics and sound to bring the ultimate multiplay experience to you. A perfected engine without the clutter of AI and other rigorous code that chews your box and spits it out. "cough crisis"

    With a new 3D level editor on its way its hoping to sport single vertex manipulation, face cutting, edge selection, subdiv editing, merge tools, sculpt geometry, triangulation, polygon reduction, to get you on your way as you manipulate primitive shapes to construct your personal play experience. with all the good ness of hammer, Maya and 3d max thrown into a blender and working with a unique synergy.

    Don't fret if you have already made levels "Evolve" plans to incorporate its own set of converters and additional room for plugin converters, to change your brush formats to and or from any of most commonly used video game file types and or 3d modeling file types, .mb to .vft easy.
    For those game enough to make "Evolve" the ultimate experience, brush up on your lua coding.

    comes standard with converters for
    Maya
    3D Max
    Hammer
    UT3
    and
    Rhino for those after a free ware

    additional converters/plugins, will most likely hit the torrents with in 2 weeks of beta

    "Evolve" produced by UWE created by Max paid in cookies from Flaya looks to be the next big thing since a slice of bread in the video game world, currently only supports XP, but soon to support osx, and other various PC platforms, if not hit the torrents and DL a shell that can execute this program cos your missing out.

    once you take control of the "evolve" world creator you will swiftly adapt to the new tools if you have had any minimal experience with hammer, Maya or 3d max, create your world, add your lighting, import files, textures, export in diff formats, compile in various formats and run your game. don't forget evolves
    unique lighting, graphics and physic's thanks to physic-x and nvida. now go create your world and bridge the gap as UWE units the world in video games as you play with enhanced net code, and blast your ears with exceptional sound clarity.

    Game engines come and go, but this engines the only one to of "evolved".

    Eh I didn't like evolution, and was sporting the word evolve since I heard the pod cast, evolved also has a nice sounding.

    Dell done guys really am impressed, I hope yas can incorporate a few of my wishes, into the released level editor, cant wait.

    p.s when you guys are winning awards and making the heads of vindel spit chips of jealousy can I get tickets to sit with yas at your table, please.
    Stop by see some of my latest works in maya, ill even evently host my WIP's and old old works.

    Thanks for the engine name suggestions and feedback everyone. I think "Evolution Engine" has the most support so far (although it's not unanimous).

    but.. you're not gonna make the decision based purely on community popularity, are ya? i mean, sure i like Evolution, but it's like a second or third place to other names.

    and looks like only two others liked my "Natural Engine" suggestion sad-fix.gif (though that's not the reason for what i said above, honest.)

    Since I still couldn't find a feed for the podcast, here's a way to turn the news feed into a podcast feed:

    CODE
    <?PHP
    header('Content-type: application/atom+xml; charset"utf-8"');
    $feed = file_get_contents("http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/news/atom.xml");
    print preg_replace('/(href=.(http:\/\/www\.unknownworlds\.com\/files\/ns2\/[a-z0-9_-]+cast-\d+\.m[po][3v]).*?<\/summary>)/i',
        "$1<link rel='enclosure' href='$2'/>", $feed );
    ?>

    It is ugly and slow, but works on both iTunes and on my Nokia S60 phone.
    You can try it by subscribing to http://nysv.net/rss/uw/atom.xml

    What i suggested is not outrageous for some games i could care less if they have no funky lighting system.

    But this is NS its all about the environment/immersion/ambushes and mostly in very atmospheric indoor area's.

    Having a proper lighting system would bring so much to the gameplay of NS this is one game which can really benefit from a good lighting system beyond just the eye candy factor.

    Doom3 is not the best example as it uses a very outdated shadowing method and technology has dramatically changed since then. Its running off technology which is over 5 years old so its not a very good comparison.

    I'm not saying they go CRAZY with the latest rendering technologies but they should really give a thought to what technology is around today.

    Yes I agree... I *did* say "there are some things that contribute to the FEEL of the game and then there are...[there I started talking about the graphics wow factor]".

    So I do belive ye were misunderstanding me there, matey.

    EDIT: Oh and my using Doom3 as an example was just to provide an example of a very hyped feature that people drooled over in promotional stuff but wasn´t all that when you played the actual game

    My $0.02:

    Evolution Engine or
    Symbiote Engine

    imo "Evolution Engine" has the catchiest ring to it.

    Since this will be "Unknown Worlds" first trek into this territory, the most fitting engine title that comes to mind is "Ark Engine" for obvious reasons.

    afaik it was the original UnrealTournament which first utilised subtractive BSP.

    Unreal was a single player game using the UnrealEngine 1.0. Unreal Tournament came after biggrin-fix.gif

    As for the "first game to use" question, I'm going to guess either Doom or Heretic.

    I love stripping away commander to soldier relations and turning the game into a run to the hive and click mouse 1, and repeat till victory.
    While the commander plays his little rts game isolated from the rest of the team.

    Doom and Heretic were only pseudo 3D and were mapped in 2D. So I would say Quake would have to be the first game to use the solid block building method, being the first true 3D FPS (level over level !).

    What about Duke Nukem 3D? I only messed around in the level editor ever so slightly but it appeared to be somewhat 3D from what I remember... minus the sprites of course. Then there was Descent that 3D space game where you go through space mines, asteroids and what not and destroy robots and eventually escape. Duke Nukem was released 5ish months before Quake and Descent was released a year before both.

    Evolution / Evolve seems to be popular but I would suggest the Darwin engine.
